I was in Rome a couple of weeks after you, it looks like you had similar weather to us, warm and sunny! It was an overwhelming place with the stunning architecture and historical places! It certainly bought back really happy memories ❤
That was a great vlog, especially as I am going to Rome on march for my 50th birthday, cant wait to go , grazie Steve e Alicja, e stato meraviglioso 👏🏻🇮🇹
Just a quick tip...if you move 'inland' by just a bit the prices go down. I paid 6 Euro for a ham and swiss croissant, a chocolate croissant and a large cappuccino. By inland I mean back from the main corner of the intersection. Love the video, glad you posted it!
And remember, often you pay extra for sitting outside, or even sitting at all. The cheap shots of espresso are consumed standing at the counter, with or without a cornetto (a cream-filled croissant like Steve and Alicija had). If you go sit outside, it's immediately double the price...
Watching your video takes me right back to my visit, I did so many of the same sights. Steve you are so right, EVERYWHERE you look in Rome there's some history to look at. Great job.
Steve this is excellent footage of Rome. I felt as if I was right there alongside the two of you. I love that you do not add annoying loud music to your videos and that we can hear the sounds of the city and it's people. It really felt as if I was walking around Rome myself. Thank you for another great relaxing entertainment.
I am in Rome right now, a weekend away from Bucharest and this video was such a surprise. After all the steps during the day, to see your video in the evening. Great video as usual!🎉
The river is called the Tiber. Rome is under construction for 2 reasons. Reason 1 is that they are extending the metro. And reason 2 is that the Catholic church is having a Jubilee year in 2025. Those weren't Italians queueing. Those were tourists.
Aw you two together on your travels..brilliant.what a gorgeous city...been around lots of places in Italy but never Rome...thanks for taking us with you..ciao. 🏴
That was a lovely video guys. Wonderful to see Alicja again. Am looking forward to the next part. The food looks fantastic, I could almost smell the pizza. Ring on Rome Part 2!
Great video. We were in Rome just the other week, for the first time too. Absolutely loved it. I think we walked about 10 miles every day. Managed to visit most of the places we wanted to, and also managed a trip out to Ostia. Found some great bars and restaurants and met some really nice people. I think that was the surprising thing, the locals were keen to talk to us and not treat us as just another tourist. Late night conversations over drinks until the bars closed, numbers exchanged. Managed to persuade some guys that they should go to Glasgow for their friends' stag do. Bar owners remembering us and giving us tips on where to eat. I decided to be a bit more adventurous with my meals, and ventured into the cucina povera side of the menus. Tripe, oxtail and beef cheeks were all consumed. Absolutely cracking city and can't wait to go back again.
Rome is the “eternal “ city Sooo much to do and see. Overwhelming in the word that pops to mind. But walking in the back streets is key to enjoying Rome. Wander and let it happen
Great video Steve. You have inspired my wife and I to do a little traveling out of the United States. We are headed from Phoenix Arizona to London England next month. No plans just going to arrive and go for it. We are also going to do our first Long haul flight
I absolutely loved this video. Thank you so much to both of you. As someone that loves to travel too, you've just inspired me to go to Italy soon. Lots of love from South Africa
Yet another great video. Steve, I've said it before and I'll say it again: you're my favorite TH-camr. That said, I am reminded by today's video of something my elementary school history teacher said: "Behind every great man is a great woman." Whether she's a wise sounding board, someone who offers ideas, or just keeps the man grounded, her influence is often greater than outsiders know. When you bring Alicja along in your adventures, it's fairly obvious that she's all of the above. May both of you always be the most important part of each other's world. Thanks for sharing.
So good to see you both having a wee break together. You have been away on your own a lot recently, Steve. Wonderful grey Saturday morning entertainment!
Thanks for sharing this trip Steve. Rome is one of our favourite places, been quite a few times, my husband proposed to me there , over looking the forum from the Monumento a Vittorio Emanuele II. Pity you were not there longer as there is so much more to see. I couldn’t believe the amount of building works going on just now. Naples is also a great place to go, a bit more gritty but so much to see and do. Xx
Rome!!! My favourite City. At 2 minutes 50ish you walked through the Piazza Della Madonna, my favourite place in the City. It's an awesome place to hang out at at night. All the locals sit on the steps around the fountain and drink and socialise. I wrote a poem about the place, I love it so much ❤
I've watched quite a few tourist-made videos of Rome but yours reminds me of my visit more than any of them. Well done ! Best, most enjoyable half and hour I've had on TH-cam for yonks.
Same for me when I went many years ago, walked everywhere and in August those drinking water fountains were much needed. Too much to see in a long weekend. Cheers!
13:27 The orange coloured silent sheet steel piling pack shown on the Tiber foreshore is actually there on hire from a Stratford-On-Avon company called AGD....😉
Absolutely loved watching this tour around Rome with you two..l went a few years ago and must return . I loved the fact it's a city you can walk around from ancient attraction to cafe to more historic buildings ( like York but much bigger ) I was blown away by The Pantheon..hope you saw that ..famous Roman food l was hoping you would try .. Spaghetti Carbonara and from the jewish quarter battered fried fish and also artichokes. Enjoy the rest of your trip ... hoping for a Rome Pt 2 🙏😊
Wonderful day out but, wow, busy! We spent our time in Milan and Como. Had the best meal of our lives at a place outside of Milan. Can’t remember the name but we remember the meal. :)
My favourite place, did a lot of work there over the years - can only watch this in bits because of the nostalgia is ovewwhelming me as I sit on an island in the Irish sea in the aftermath of the latest storm. BTW Alicia the coliseum had a canvas roof that could be deployed according to the weather/ If you want to go to Rome without the tourists try late July -early October.
Rome is stunning isn’t it? It’s on my list! My parents went a few years ago with their friends who were both teachers - one in archaeology and the other in classics - they got some wonderful guided tours!
Steve we love your videos, I’d almost go as far as to say “inspirational”. So mate, I know you normally have to keep your eye on the budget, but this is ROME !! Treat that bonny lass to a romantic candlelit dinner ! 😁❤️
I’ve been to Rome three times…and it’s not enough. Looks like late October is a fantastic time to go there, at least you were blessed with the weather. Yes, it’s intense, but as long as you accept that fact, you do fine. Great to see you and Alicja having such a lovely day there. Looking forward to the next! Cheers, and ATB!
You keep doing it😄Just like yourselves, I roamed😆 about the eternal city for a couple of days, in 2012, without really knowing what to see, but history is everywhere I looked. The colosseum was (is?) free for people of a certain age, so little or no queuing for me. Much more impressive from the inside. Loved your video the memory.
Oh Steve this brings back some good memories of my travels to Rome. There wasn’t all that construction when I was there and Queues were not as long either. Great to see Alicja travelling with you. I loved the cats I have 2. Did you take the hop on hop off bus at night everything is lit up.

Amazing video. A bucket list city for me for sure. I find it kinda funny though that the video for Longyearbyen is double the length of this one, and with enormous variations of things to see 😅. Love it though 😊
It's been amazing to watch you and Alicjia strolling around the capital. There are works everywhere because of the jubilee. You know, I've been there so many years ago and you remind me how messy is their traffic! Here in Milano things are a little more ordinated but still crowded and loud as any other city. Ah, the slice of pizza ahahahah they still don't know that Americans and Britains don't like a whole pizza😂
Thank you thank you thank you both so very much for this video, I was six years old travelling from the UK to Australia on board the P & O ship Iberia and we stopped in Rome and thus began my love of architecture, we went to the Coliseum and the Vatican the Spanish Steps and so many other places that simply took my breath away. Probably a strange interest for a six year old to have but even then I was taken by the beauty and magnificence of these stunning places, I will watch this video a couple more times tonight and dip into it many times over I am sure. Thank you both so much ,the emotions that have run through me while watching have been fantastic. As always take care you wonderful pair and stay safe, cheers from Oz.
That was great, I've never been though my girl has, her dad is Italian & auntie lives there so she's been a few times. I've been to quite a lot of places in Italy but never there & I won't now, too old & cba! Lovely to see Alicjia & looking lovely too girl!
You are so luck to have been to all these wonderful place but on the other hand I am lucky to have seen them through your eyes else I would have never seen them at all. Keep up the good work and good luck from Ireland
Roma!!!! My second favourite city! I have been there a few times and was horrified by the queues of tourists nowadays . I never queued for anything. Especially the Coliseum and the Vatican. We used the Vatican Post Office for our cards and not one was received!!!!! Surprised at the lovely weather you had!!!! Thank you! ❤
The cat sanctuary is my favourite place in Rome. Bless the volunteers who work there ❤❤❤❤
Prrr-meow mirrr, meowmeow
@@Tip_Top at largo Argentina. That’s where Julius Caesar was assasinated
@@paulcapaccio9905 yes, I had totally forgotten that! I visited it about 15 years ago. Glad to see the cat sanctuary is still there
Amazing - touring around Europe before Covid, I didn't queue for anything in Rome. Incredible how many people are travelling now.
classical architecture in Italy excites me a lot, it's really beautiful to see, I prefer this to modern cities full of skyscrapers
How lovely to see Alicja with you. Two of my most favourite people on TH-cam.
What a GREAT video. It's as though I was walking beside you two and seeing the sights from your prospective. Thank you.

You in general need to avoid the tourist areas and you'll find the best places to eat.
And remember, often you pay extra for sitting outside, or even sitting at all. The cheap shots of espresso are consumed standing at the counter, with or without a cornetto (a cream-filled croissant like Steve and Alicija had). If you go sit outside, it's immediately double the price...
Very enjoyable day. The man with the bin banging past your table gave me a laugh. Nice to see you two travelling together. Thank you, cheers.
Great to see Rome again from a tourists view. We loved it back in 2016. And it was around the same time of year! Thanks both of you. Don+Jen.
Watching your video takes me right back to my visit, I did so many of the same sights. Steve you are so right, EVERYWHERE you look in Rome there's some history to look at. Great job.
Welcome back Alicia - "the icing on a delicious cake"! 😁😁
what a great video! i love Alicja's sense of humour, you two are so quick witted and you bounce off each other really well!
Thanks again for a great video. You two are my favourite youtubers. Thank you for bringing back memories of Rome that I did 12 years ago.
Great video once again! You both look as though you had a great time. Love the €18 coffee stop, your face was a picture 😂
Steve this is excellent footage of Rome. I felt as if I was right there alongside the two of you. Another great video Steve, just what i needed after trying to prop up fences in the face of storm Darragh😂.
Rome is absolutely breathtaking, an open air museum. Love it to bits.
Oh Enjoy seeing you both. thank you for the lovely time in Rome. It's all snowy out my window. Thank heavens they take care of the cats! ttfn
Yes. You can't miss the Torre Argentina. Just follow your nose (literally)
Great video guys 😃👍

Alicja is back!!! my favorite youtuber sidekick 😁!
Connor Dawg is awesome too though.
Ms. Alicja's dress is very becoming too. Thanks for the Roman tour Steve.

Should have her own channel by now!
Love Alicia’s smile. Brightens up the room. Thanks for bringing us along. I would never go there. Love her giggles.
Thanx for another excellent video Steve, Rome looked amazing and of course always good to see beautiful Alicja by your side
You covered Rome well in just one day, and I liked the stereotypical check-list idea.
Cheers mate! It was fun to make but boy was that a busy, loud city!
I've watched quite a few tourist-made videos of Rome but yours reminds me of my visit more than any of them. Well done ! Best, most enjoyable half and hour I've had on TH-cam for yonks.
One of my best friends is from Italy and she would love this view of Roma! Well done you two❤
It felt like I was there with you folk - thanks so much.

Spectacular place but way too busy for me, thanks for the tour Steve and Alicja😊
Wonderful day out but, wow, busy! We spent our time in Milan and Como. Had the best meal of our lives at a place outside of Milan. Can’t remember the name but we remember the meal. :)
I love Rome… One of the best days I had in Rome is when I got lost… Got some great photographs… Love your video!
Beautiful video . Rome looks amazing .. you keep going to places on my list !!! Really enjoyed it cheers to both of you .
Lovely, positive video! Well done! 👏🏻
Be sure to see The Pantheon, a fabulous building built in Roman times, and still in use.
Going to Rome in September, from Australia. Great realistic view of Rome thanks guys.
Great timing to watch this video - I'm going there in Feb next year so it gave me a preview!
i’m heading there in may from oregon.
Excellent video, epic scenery!! Definitely lucked out on the weather. Hope all is well, take care of yourselves
Besides the continual visual feasts, the busy Rome soundscape is perfect!
As always Steve, your videos are absolutely brilliant, they're even better if Alicja is with you
Rome is stunning isn’t it? It’s on my list! My parents went a few years ago with their friends who were both teachers - one in archaeology and the other in classics - they got some wonderful guided tours!
Another great video thanks both! Missed the ‘pause for Steve’s notes’ at the end, they are always really useful!
Steve we love your videos, I’d almost go as far as to say “inspirational”. So mate, I know you normally have to keep your eye on the budget, but this is ROME !! Treat that bonny lass to a romantic candlelit dinner ! 😁❤️
“we’re going to see cats now” then my cat jumps up to watch…he seems to like you. Steve 🤣

Oh Steve this brings back some good memories of my travels to Rome. There wasn’t all that construction when I was there and Queues were not as long either. Great to see Alicja travelling with you. I loved the cats I have 2. Did you take the hop on hop off bus at night everything is lit up.
Oh that would have been a good shout!
I think I had a 'romanticised' image of Rome, so your video has prepared me for the reality of lots of construction, steel barriers in front of historic buildings, traffic and masses of people.
Being slightly claustrophobic; I personally need the reality to prepare myself for the shock of the real.
The old architecture is magnificent but of course, I must remember; we live in modern times. Thank you both for sharing your walkabout with us.
You can stroll around at a leisurely pace in the late afternoon and evening and it's completely different. St. Peter's for example is often not crowded at all if you avoid the tourist rush times. Purchasing online tickets in advance also helps.
@lala-ct9ir thank you ✨🙏👌

And Alycja, you were looking very Italian-stylish, especially with the hat
Amazing video. A bucket list city for me for sure. I find it kinda funny though that the video for Longyearbyen is double the length of this one, and with enormous variations of things to see 😅. Love it though 😊

Great fun video in the sun in Rome. I find Italians do queue, right up until the doors open and then all bets are off 😂
Haha I like this!
