I also think that the unplanned time of rest when you had to deal with the kidney stones worked as a sort of 'intermitted tapering' and helped your body to get even better prepared for the heavy training towards the Games. Thanks Noah. Just got rhabdo doing Murph because I didn’t drink water like I should have. Hospitalized for 3 days and not allowed to workout for 3 weeks after training my ass off for 7 years. It’s pretty depressing. But like you said: you don’t lose your fitness over a week.
