    My daughter has type 1, a few weeks ago my pharmacy was having a hard time ordering more so we had to drive to a different pharmacy that happened to have them in stock. I hope this trend for non diabetics doesn't mess up access for those who actually need the sensors.

      This happened to me too. There was a shortage due to non diabetics buying them I had to drive an hour to a pharmacy and they only had a short stock. They let me buy two months worth so it gave me time to try to locate more when I needed

    The good thing is most of the people doing it for a trend can actually make insulin... blood sugar spikes are normal, and it will naturally go down. Unlike a type 1 like me! Why are they concerned for a normal function of the body?

    • @GearMaven

    Are people using these as a trend having to pay the same prices at diabetics who actually need them? Are they readily available to them? Or do they have to wait like actual diabetics?? A trend to some, but a lifeline to my daughter.

    It DOES NOT keep you updated on your “blood sugar”. The sensors monitor “tissue sugar,” which is the result of eating sugar, carbs, etc., on your blood sugar about 45 minutes to one hour later. So it DOES NOT monitor blood sugars in real time like finger stick sugar monitoring devices do. That being said, I wear one of these to prevent my fingers from becoming pin cushions every day. I use the Libre sensors.

    • @itsmeprasad1987

    • @JoeSmith-fu9yx
      @JoeSmith-fu9yx 6 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      Nothing is real time because it can take up to an hour before you peak which is why you shouldn’t test immediately after you eat.

    • @GamerplayerWT
      @GamerplayerWT 6 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @ Wrong. When you finger stick and drop blood on a meter stick and put it into the glucose meter, that’s what your blood sugar is at that time. That’s what real time means. The Libre sensors, etc, on the other hand, do not give you a “blood sugar” reading when you check it. That’s tissue sugar. So it’s not what your blood sugar is at that time. So, not real time.

    • @geshu100
      @geshu100 5 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      Maybe not real time but can be a valuable data point in viewing glucose treads so diabetics can treat to keep blood glucose within range.

    Elvated blood glucose levels is a late marker of metabolic dearrangement. It occurs when your body can no longer safely store excess energy (mostly as visceral fat) and fats becomes elevated in muscle and liver cells. Save your money. Instead find a way to reduce caloric intake and/or increase physical activity.

    making glucose monitors available to everyone is a HUGE opportunity for people to understand their bodies and what they're putting into it. i eat a low carb diet and was stunned to learn how many of those products spike blood sugar in a very unhealthy way with regular consumption. do yourself a favor and try this out you don't have to wear it forever, just long enough to see how your body reacts to your regular diet so you can make healthy changes.

    I disagree. This should be made more affordable to people with diabetes and not be used as some fun tool for healthy people. These sensors are expensive, three sensors Libre 3 with reader costs nearly $1,000. Lucky if you have insurance to pay for most of this. And each time to apply a new sensor you have a huge piece of plastic (applicator) left for the trash can. Hopefully reliable non-invasive Blood sugar watches will be available to replace these money-making sensors!
