    You have to lift motor up and back down there’s a lot more oil left in there

    Hi Justin, can you post a video encompassing your thoughts of the reels you have bought and previously reviewed, now that you have tested them out on the water?

    Just a suggestion when changing oil on any engine or motor run it first to get the oil hot and be careful when removing the plug maybe even use the socket with a extension so you don’t get burned

    I have a Mercury 8 and I have to change the oil now because gas is in it .I think it's a common thing. One time was from leaving the gas can connected and it was hot outside. Think this one might be from idling too long..

    Gas is getting in your oil try letting the vent on the tank open or cracked especially in hot weather but watch out for rain getting in its just on of the many joys of boating

    Hi, it looks to me like your inline fuel filter is on the wrong side of your fuel pump. I have the 2008 9.9 Pro kicker and the inline filter is before the pump not after... yours could be different, just thought I'd throw it out there...

    • @MaineManBassing
      @MaineManBassing  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah I noticed that too, but it is correct.

    You need to have the motor All the way up when draining oil!!!!’

    With all due respect, this is not the correct method - glad I checked the manual first. The motor needs to be tilted all the way up and turned to the side so the drain plug is facing down. Remove plug, drain, and temporarily reinstall the plug. Tilt the motor back down (to the run position) for a few minutes to allow any oil that was trapped inside the motor to settle and then repeat the process to get the rest of the oil out. You won't get a complete oil change without following this procedure.

    So does this engine just not have an oil filter?

    • @MaineManBassing
      @MaineManBassing  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      not that i know of

    • @jonathankuriatnyk4297
      @jonathankuriatnyk4297 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I actually found an answer to this question by calling the mercury. The filter in this engine is actually a built in screen that while can be changed, is not designed to be replaced with every new oil replacement.

    • @MaineManBassing
      @MaineManBassing  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@jonathankuriatnyk4297 I think you’d have to get into the block to change it... if you ever need to change it. You can check the online parts catalog to see where it’s located.

    Also that’s a oil drain plug not a lug nut. No point of showing people the wrong way no offense. This is the proper way. th-cam.com/video/ibDp2Eo50cM/w-d-xo.html

    can't tell us the mm size of the drain plug at 2 minutes, or 3:20 when you take it off, and put it back on, respectively? come on, man?
