Greatness is Found in Isolation

  • Loneliness has more to do with our perceptions than how much company we have. It’s just as possible to be painfully lonely surrounded by people as it is to be content with little social contact. Some people need extended periods of time alone to recharge, others would rather give themselves electric shocks than spend a few minutes with their thoughts. Here’s how we can change our perceptions by making and experiencing art.
    5 Benefits of Being Alone
Having quality social relationships is essential for mental health, but alone time is also important and beneficial. Everyone is different, and certain people, such as introverts or those working on themselves, may need more alone time than others.
The following are eight benefits of being alone:
    1. Improved Sleep Quality
If you are always busy with other people, you may notice that it is difficult to wind down at night and fall asleep. Those moments right before you fall asleep can be uncomfortable if you are not used to being alone. Taking some time to yourself throughout your day-free of distractions, obligations, and screens-can help you practice being with your thoughts so that you feel more comfortable transitioning from wakefulness to sleep. Choosing to practice alone time can also help you feel more relaxed overall, able to have more restful sleep at night, and see firsthand the impact sleep has on mental health.
    2. Increased Creativity
As anyone who has ever spent time alone can attest, having space from others can free up your mind to think of new ideas. If you are constantly in the presence of others, your mind is more likely to be engaged in being social than in being creative. Those who enjoy creative pursuits, like writing, painting, or music, may need to get some alone time (and even crave alone time) in order to create.
If you are not used to alone time, being alone with others may be a good way to start, such as writing at a library or in a café. Whether or not you are struggling with your mental health, creativity can benefit your mental health by providing an outlet for expressing a range of emotions.
    3. Time to Focus on Setting Goals
Being alone gives us a chance to check in with where we are now and what we need to do to set and achieve healthy goals. We may even need to feel the dissatisfaction or sadness about where we are now in order to get the motivation to change something-and being around others constantly might distract from these informative feelings. Taking time to journal about how your life is in line with your values, plan your schedule, or even research resources related to your goals are all beneficial ways to spend alone time that will help us in the long term.
    4. Increased Productivity
Scheduling alone time may be a helpful way to increase productivity because fewer distractions can make it much easier to get things done. If you are used to being with others, you might struggle to get things done when you are on your own. With practice, eventually, you won’t be dependent on others in order to be productive.
You may find that you need other tools to boost productivity, as well, such as making a list prioritizing what you need to do, breaking it down into smaller steps, and setting a timer to help you work for a certain amount of time.
    5. Reduced Stress
Choosing to spend time alone can help us reduce stress by giving our minds a break from constant stimulation and activity. Even if we are around people with whom we are very comfortable, being with others involves certain expectations and social norms that require our attention. Having space from these rules and obligations can help us feel more relaxed.

See this injury as a blessing. Now, you have observed the true colors of the people that are around you. At some point, we are all exposed to the true intentions of the people around us, and then it becomes on us to decide to either cut the waste out our life or leave it hanging around. Use your isolation to get clarity on yourself and the decision you have to make. Don't waste your isolation, use it wisely and grow while you're going through it. I appreciate your comment brotha, and Imma pray that you have a speedy recovery from your injury.

People who had a difficult childhood,
especially those who never had their emotional needs met
    are prone to limerence.
The reason is because we were always prone to imagining a parallel reality,
a whole world of fantasies we could escape to.
Fantasies have always been a safer world for us than the real one,
so our mind is already used to this dynamic (it's basically like 'muscle memory').
When something triggers this dynamic, it's like opening a portal to our safe fantasy world,
and as destructive as it is, we are used to actually loving it...
    That being said,
my soul is brutally violently viciously maliciously raped
and has been my whole life
    I am desperate to die
    REMINDER TO SELF:
FEAR is a bully. If you try to avoid him, reason with him, appease him, beg him,
he will kick the shit out of you and ruin your life day after day, until you don't have a life no more. But... If you start looking him in the eye and saying "FUCK YOU, do your worst, I can take it"
    and you mean it...
He may beat you once or twice
but after a while, he'll let you be.
You might even become friends over time.

Isolation with Jesus and becoming who He has called us to be is so important in order to maximize our wholeness! Season of healing.
“But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.”

And this is why even in your isolation, you shouldn't feel lonely. You should be in constant communication and conversation with God. Your relationship with Him should be so much greater. If you don't come out of your isolation with a stronger relationship with Christ and a better understanding in the ways in which He is trying to grow and develop you, then you completely wasted it.

I always prioritized being single over a relationship because of this one reason: PEOPLE NEVER REALLY KNOW THEMSELVES. They’re eager for someone else to fill the void to make them happy. When you’re dating someone, they’re putting their best foot forward and everything is ORGANIC. When you enter a relationship with them, it becomes an OBLIGATION. Relationships also become POSSESSIVE. Single life you’re FREE to deal with WHOEVER WHENEVER and enjoy your hobbies. I go EVERYWHERE alone and you meet ppl along the way. You even said your relationship k!lled your AMBITION, you slowly lose your DRIVE because a RELATIONSHIP MAKES YOU COMFORTABLE AND COMFORT IS THE DEVIL!

    • @PursuitofThought
      @PursuitofThought  หลายเดือนก่อน +2

Absolutely! No one shoe fits all. Singleness provides you with a sense of freedom, being able to really focus and hone in on what you want and who you want to be. Right on time! Anybody notice how when you ask God to get close to Him and all of a sudden you are alone? I was in a relationship just recently. One night I asked God to build me into the man He wants me to be. Guess what... Relationship over in a week, other girls disappear into thin air, friends become distant. Hahaha

Matthew 7:7-8 “Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened."
You sought out for Him, and now he's calling you to a season of isolation, because He wants your complete focus on Him. This is a great thing because he must be wanting to elevate you for a purpose. Often the chosen are isolated. Your job is to figure out why He wants you in this period of isolation.

Look at it as a good thing that you have now exposed the fake people around you. Now you can focus on creating real genuine connections with people instead of having having to deal with these fake ones that have been around you. Children absorb the emotions around them like sponges. When we are fighting with our partner, or even giving each other the silent treatment, kids know it. They may not be able to articulate the tension they’re feeling; however, it can permeate the atmosphere in the household and be oppressive to being able to freely express their emotions. You made right decision brotha, just continue to express to them how much you are still there for them and making sure they know that the love is still there. It's a difficult path to navigate, but God will lead you in the right way. God bless brotha

Its definitely not for the faint hearted. Growth in any part of life, whether it's mentally, physically or spiritually is always associated what's some kind of pain or friction. It's all about how we choose to perceive this friction. People that see the isolation as a benefit for their life, are usually the the ones that experience the most amount of growth from it. I'm glad that you see it as a positive and an opportunity. Thank you for writing this. I hope you received nothing but blessings from your period of isolation. God bless you.

    • @PursuitofThought
      @PursuitofThought  หลายเดือนก่อน

We aren't cool people, we're no different than you. Some of us just have experienced what you're currently going through and we did the work on ourselves in that season of isolation. Things will be difficult in the beginning, but they will get better, and you will eventually find a partner that's an even better match for you, if you do the work on yourself in your isolation. I'm telling you this from experience. So you have one of two choices to make, you either fold to the pressure and remain sad and defeated in your isolation, or you use it to better yourself and focus on the things that interest you or that you're passionate about. You have to change your mindset and start to look at it as an opportunity instead of a misfortune. Perception is everything.

Definitely not. We're social beings. Isolation should be viewed as a seasonal thing, or for however long you need it, but I definitely wouldn't suggest it for long-term, or as a way of life. Long-term isolation should be left only for individuals that can handle it (for example, Buddhist monks).

You're in a season of transition right now and I'm here to tell you that something good is coming out of this. And if you can just endure the trial you’ll see that in the end you will be more blessed than you were before. He will bless you with the right woman thats for you, just give it time. Use this period of isolation wisely and grow within it. Don't let it go to waste.

It won't be easy, but nothing beneficial for your life comes easy. Use this season to further understand yourself and who you are. This is the season to figure out what it is that you truly want in life, and building the road map to achieve that desire. Allow God to lead you and direct you to all great things. I'm a thinker, and typically, thinkers like to be in their own space because we spend a lot of time self reflecting and expanding our mental.
