- In February of 2021, one of my old videos got picked up by the YT algorithm, which mean that the amount of subscribers began growing really fast - from 4K to 100K in a week! I continued making videos, so 2021 was an amazing year.
In this video I'd like to share my year results and conclusions. I will about how my life changed after I became a full-time TH-camr, what struggles and fears I have, and do I plan to leave Russia.

Hi! My name is Natasha, I live in the Far East of Russia in the city of Khabarovsk, but originally I'm from a small town Spassk-Dalny in Primorsky Krai. I am a 69 year old citizen of the United States, served in the military during the Cold War and consequently was exposed to all the stereotypes of the Soviet Union member states and Russia in particular. What I find valuable and fun about your channel is that your contemporary young woman's perspective on your home. You present your country as it is for you as a regular young person, not a political hack. I so appreciate your viewpoint and am very happy you have the energy and committment to make and post your videos. You are doing a terrific job! Keep at it!

Also, I think most people were fearful that you would go to jail for your content. It was very brave of you, but I don’t think anyone judges you for reducing the content that put you in danger.
Your therapist is correct; you're working like a full time journalist. And please don't underestimate how much your videos have helped all of us around the world who have be often locked down. The time you put in has made a BIG difference to all of us in other countries.
I would like to pass two things on to you: 1) The TH-cam algorithm can send large amounts of people to you but we have stayed (I joined a little over a year ago) because of the quality of your work, you have earned every subscriber. 2) Fear is not a bad thing, it makes you smarter, faster, stronger. You pay attention and think ahead and work harder - don't be afraid of fear. Thank you so much for showing the real Russia and the real people. @@lianvitos the algo never brought me here! I came on my own volition. I watched one of her videos and BOOM was hooked. It helps because I love Russia and Russian culture, but yeah. Yeah Russia is awesome, she should be proud of this little community she has built.
Very well put. Fear is literally a function to initiate the building of a secure foundation for survival and well-being. Attitude and mindset is what makes or breaks our spirit while dealing with the "unpleasantness" of fear.

Your doing more as a Diplomat For Peace then all the saber rattling of all these political leaders. Your showing everyone how much more similar we are as opposed to our differences. That’s making a huge difference for people in the West to see the common goods between all of us.

First of all believe us WE ALL LOVE YOU! - You bring us an insight into what daily life is like in Russia. You also are an excellent ambassador for tourism and (if I were younger) I would love to visit your Hometown Spassk.
Like many of your TH-camrs, we make the TH-cam Journey to come here to find YOU - because we too sometimes feel depressed and lonely and welcome that 'sparkle of light' that you bring into our lives! when we hear your voice and you open up another story for us to escape into!
Being a blogger is a tough job and your videos and content is your Art - and you are VERY GOOD AT IT - your presentations are natural and we can and DO see, sometimes your emotions.
There is a saying "Wear Your Heart on your Sleeve" - You do this and we see it - particularly in this video!
For future ideas - why not start 'Second Channel' - I am just throwing out suggestions here - call it "Russian Cooking With Natasha" (invite a friend over) and prepare a simple meal for two - go shopping for the ingredients and show us simple food-preparation and finally the end the video shows you enjoying the meal - and a RECIPE for us to enjoy it too!
(As a young guy, learned to cook from grandma - She said "you never know, one Day you might need to know how to prepare a simple dinner" - How true, were those words!)
Another idea was (from one of your videos), you were drinking 'KVAS' (and Yes, now I am going to make some here in Canada - I found a recipe!) - perhaps you should do a video on your (I hope) upcoming 'Cooking with Natasha' channel and make some 'KVAS'?
** Of course, you don't need a second channel but another revenue stream may not be a bad idea? **
As far as traveling/working in Europe - perhaps one day, check out World Health Organization: www.who.int/careers
(Russian Federation is a Member State) and I'm sure that your ability to document and film events will be a transferable-skill?

Hi Natasha, don't underestimate "the power" you have as a youtuber as an ambassador of your country. I find it super interesting how you and other russian youtubers, such as roman (nfkrz?), give us a different picture of russia than we know from the media. I live in switzerland and for me, the far east is a completely unknown world. You brought me so close to this part of the world that it feels like it's not far from my home. Thank you for the sympathetic entertainment you offer us and don't let yourself be crushed by the pressure to deliver better and more interesting content. Just be yourself and make your videos as if nobody would watch them. You have the talent and that's why it's good.

A very candid video. Some fatherly advice: Don’t ever feel like you are alone when you have self doubt or anxiety. Almost everyone experiences that. Be confident with your choices and decisions. Trust your instincts. Make decisions on what you think is right for you, not what you think other people expect of you. Keep creating your TH-cam content by being true to yourself. You have 252K viewers that believe in you, but you cannot please every viewer all the time. Your top priority should be to do what you feel is right for you.

Oh my God. Your so sweet and wonderful. Driving exam stories. When I was 58, I bought a small motorcycle. I was living in Durango, Colorado and went to get my motorcycle license. We had to drive around an obstacle course of cones in a parking lot. I completely the course without problem but, right when I was coming to a stop in front of the examiner I fell over and broke my leg!!! I’ve broken legs several times before and knew what it felt and, knew that I had broken it. I bravely got up and asked for help picking the motorcycle up. I looked at the examiner and asked if I passed the test. After all, I negotiated the course without problem. She looked at me and started laughing at me and then said, “You’re joking, right?” “Of course you failed the course. (I thought to myself that that person is somebody’s husband. I was glad that that poor bastard wasn’t me.) 😂😂😂😂😂
Exactly. When you "arrive" then you need to realize how you got there, and establish your style. IMHO it's all about what style you want to present.
You're an amazing young woman, Natasha. The fact that you have been honest whilst vlogging about the realities of living in rural East Russia shows that you not only know about this subject directly, but you also care deeply for that region. You are unlike many of the other vloggers from Russia who can be rather vapid, and concern themselves to the big metro areas (Moscow-St. Petersburg etc), rather than travelling to Spassk-Dal'nij, or Perm etc. You're not like a Moscow woman (who always dresses up in their most expensive clothes and wears too much makeup), you keep it real and speak about the subjects you focus on. In other words, you're an intelligent journalist.
I am glad you're seeking help for mental difficulties, people too often over look that side of health. Good luck with your ongoing success regarding all of your health, your followers (fans) love you and want the best for you.

And I must say I'm not the opposite to "a Moscow woman" because in every Russian city there are women who like either make up or no make up, and it doesn't reflect moral qualities, it's just a preference. @@NatashasAdventures I am glad you corrected this about "Moscow woman". I am not from Moscow but St-Petersburg, but still. I think he meant big city/capital type of Russian woman. I hate it when they have this stereotype that "Moscow woman" is necessary all dolled up, and only people from outside of the two capitals "keep it real". Honestly, those stereotypes are so frustrating. It's probably just because their YT recommends them "Moscow women". There's a You Tuber from St-Petersburg, she originally comes from Belarus, who is also very humble no make up NOT your stereotypical kind of dolled up girl called Ksenia but they wouldn't bother researching anything else. You have been fortunate, Natasha, as a result of your travels to have an opportunity to see your home with new eyes. If your engaging and charming videos entice a few more busloads of Americans or Germans to come and visit Russia, then that will be an opportunity for many thousands of Russians to maybe catch just a little glimpse of what you have seen. Oh Natasha, When you got to the topic about "Fear" & You said (( " Yea I Live In Russia " )) , I almost lost it from laughing, I'm glad I was not drinking anything because I would have choked our spit it out.
I kind of know what you are going through with your health and your mental anxieties, from what I have learned from some doctors, is that your mental stress can tremendously affect your physical health. I now live alone (( but never lonely )) and I pursue all my hobbies and enjoy such peace and quiet from the stressful mess that this world can consume you in if you let it, I now refer to myself as an unsupervised adult 😎.
Yes I also agree, just keep doing what you are doing with your journalistic videos and explanations of what you are feeling and experiencing, they are honest and so refreshing. We have an expression in USA called “back seat driver” which is exactly what your instructor was doing to you. He was supposed to teach you to feel confident and comfortable behind the wheel. Driving is very easy when you’re not being nagged by a passenger. Passengers are second fiddle and meaningless. The driver is the important one in an automobile. It’d be better to go with a friend and have them let you drive their car for a few hours. Then you’ll be ready to approach your instructor.
There is nothing worse than a back seat driver.
In Russia , they prefer to keep their women insecure and dependent , as well as controlled 🤣😂😂
May be you should try taking a driving test in the city , that way the driving instructors would be more tolerant to another girl behind the wheel . It is all that machismo 🤦🏽♀️🤮 and how dare you to drive ? 😂. Another thing will be you starting to wear “ the pants “ 🤣😂
Yeah, just drive with a friend/family member until driving becomes natural and you are visibly confident. When the day comes, think of it as another drive with a friend. Easy peasy!

I`m a german guy, but a lot of the things you mentioned struck with me - especially the driving exam story matches almost 1:1 my experience. I finally passed the exam, but still don`t own a car to this day. I also notice that being alone for too long messes with my mental health, despite me being a major introvert. So I think most of this stuff is common for all of us to varying degrees. But everyone is unique and has their own way in life, so its great to see that you have found a special way that fits you, brings you joy and fullfilment and still allows you being yourself. Thank you for widening my and many other people horizons. :)

My (UK) driving instructor told a story about someone who drove into a hole in the road on their driving exam and still passed. Apparently because the hole wasn't properly signed.

I had a little chuckle. My Romanian woman friend was 44 years old and had never driven or owned a car. From America, I helped her buy a 2007 Toyota Camry with 88k kilometers on it and I bought her driving lessons ... She did the driving lessons and on test day the lady tester flunked her. She calls me up. "Craig Craig~!~! I Fall Down~!" 'What do you mean 'you fall down'? I didn't pass my driving test. I said fear not. "We'll go back to driving school." ... on the second try she passed and now has a driver's license and a car. I'm so happy for her. Now at age 46 she makes a little bit of money teaching Hebrew to Romanians online.
I think it's the fact that you're so open and honest about your experiences as an ordinary young woman in Russia that people find fascinating. It's not just Russians, but a lot of people will sugar-coat things about the country they live in and their lives at the expense of authenticity, and I think it's your attitude and NFKRZ's that a lot of people were especially looking for to get a better, more accurate and humbler picture of Russia, which still remains mysterious for a lot of English-speakers like myself. I'd say that you are doing a great job reminding people of the human side of Russia that exists outside of the news headlines, and that is important work that you do that is much needed in politically tense times like right now. Right. Our media acts like all Russia is is Weapons. Russia is a nation of millions of westerners. They have pride, and they should. Russia has history, culture, and great people. Only the govt is bad. But the people literally have zero control about that unfortunately.
@@bloowhalez Even the government have a lot of decent and hardworking people who's trying to do their best but you're already applied and judges them by your own stereotypes. That's the problem. No offence but unfortunately the comments is always "They're good, but..." when Westerners start to talking about Russia.
@@olekscap4620 okay let me clarify. The Russian people are amazing. Hard working, polite, funny, very well educated and smart, and just generally great people. And they have survived so much. They could teach the world a lot, especially "pampered" westerners.
Now the Russian govt, aka the oligarchy, is completely different. It doesn't represent what the people truly feel and act like. Luckily most people know the Russian govt isn't voted in by the people. Just like the Chinese govt doesn't represent the Chinese people and what they think.
The CCP doesn't represent China and United Russia doesn't represent Russians. They say they do and they have convinced a lot of their populace that these govts ARE what the people want, but if that were truly so political parties wouldn't be banned left and right.
Again, if the Russian people were free they wouldn't of invaded Crimes, especially since the people know it would probably cause sanctions and collapse their economy (which it did)
The average Russian makes $500 a month. And this is caused by Putin. They used to make much more. But the govt is so corrupt it only provides for itself. At the cost of the people. The people are stuck in poverty thanks to United Russia. Even the pensioners don't support United Russia seeing as his they live off $200 a MONTH. I make $200 a day in a small city in the U.S. as a waiter. I literally bring plates of food from a kitchen to a dining table and I make $200 a day.
Freedom is great.
The Russian GOVERNMENT is all about weapons. And I give the Russian govt MUCH credit for their defence industry. Dollar for are it's the best in the world. They can almost stand toe to toe with America in many scenarios, especially cyber warfare, and by spending a fraction of what America spends.
But the true Russia isn't shown to America because it doesn't matter to the daily lives of Americans. It's not that Americans don't like Russians, because that's not true anymore. No one born since the 80s cares about Russia.
I think we should but I'm an outlier. I think, as two powerful western nations, we could be together more.
I love Russia. I think we should be friends, best friends actually. But Russia needs an enemy and that's how this is going to work I guess.
But yeah Russia has AMAZONG history, has been through so many hard times, has a lot of intelligent hard working people, and sk much more. The Russian people, culture and history are amazing. United Russia, the political puppet of Putin, is degradation.

Don't you love her English. It's is about 99% perfect but that last 1% is not only funny it is educational because usually it is due to the grammar differences of Russian.
You can actually learn a bit about how the Russian language works by listening to her (few) English mistakes.
I'd be interested in small, bite sized videos about Russian grammar and language. That could get pretty boring pretty fast so I would only do like 5 min videos in small chunks.

I'm in a similar situation where I'm going to University in another city and I don't know anyone and covid restrictions have made it hard to do so. Hearing about how you have been struggling does genuinely help me feel a sense of solidarity with others who are in a similar situation, and it somehow makes me feel less lonely.

Natasha is a lovely, intelligent, brave young lady. A wonderful "ambassador" for the the Russian people, cutting through the stereotypes we have here in the USA, generated by the "politics" we receive. I did grow up in the 1950s and '60s at the height of the cold war, influenced by a childhood environment of ducking under desks and civilian shelters in case of a nuclear attack from the Soviet Union. Russia and the Warsaw Pact threats of invading western Europe. Listening to Soviet propaganda on Radio Moscow on shortwave radio. Listening to Soviet propagandists on our TV interviews. Now, those fears are arising again in the present political climate and military threats. Her videos are an important balancing force of the universality of the common people's wishes for a peaceful life in their homes.

Cool update. Lonelyness is difficult, I'm in my 50's, I have 4 children, 3 grandchildren, lots of family, lots of good work friends, and all of my close friends live 1,000 to 4,000km or overseas. I often feel lonely. How do I cope? I treasure and really enjoy those moments when I can spend time with a good friend, even though those moments can be years apart.
I first watched "Welcome to Spassk" some time ago. I was originally curious about your town's unique geographical & political location, but was drawn in by your simple and honest story telling. I am a Gen X American that grew up during the Cold War. American vs Russian fear and hatred was real. Without getting too political, all of our politicians often have agendas that differ from the sentiment of ordinary people. It is people like you that show us that we all have more in common that not. Your videos are vignettes of real life that we can all relate to. You are a thoughtful story teller, and a deep thinker with an honest soul. You should be confident rather than fearful. You should be proud rather than anxious (I'm sure your parents are proud). You should be hopeful because your future is bright. You shouldn't change a damn thing! Just keep doing you, because that's why we are all here.

I have a little different take. I too maybe GenX grew up during Cold War but never really “hated” Russians but also didn’t really know. Now in recent years I have spent significant time in Russia and I LOVE Russia and Russians. And what I have learned - and this is in regards to Cold War question - is before I didn’t really know but I have learned to HATE the Soviets! The Soviets were unspeakable monsters and the Soviet system no less than a crime against humanity. Just tour Anna Akhmatova’s flat in Saint-Petersburg or contemplate Kazan Cathedral on Nevsky Prospekt was changed by the Soviets to a “Temple of Atheism”. The Soviets thugs took over and brutalized for 70 years a country called Russia just like they did to countries Poland Estonia Bulgaria Lithuania etc and tried many countries around the world.
The single most important 20th century geopolitical fact to understand, especially as an American, is:

We are all extremely relieved the Cold War never became a full-blown Hot War but it was a just war - it was not some big ego nation mistake or misunderstanding - and the right side won.

When I went to college in my youth I took a lot of classes about Russia/USSR and learned a lot about Moscow and St. Petersburg but we never studied Siberia or the far east and so your videos have been very informative and I'm glad I listened to the youtube recommendations. I hope you can stay positive and finally get your Driver's license.

Great video Natasha. I can relate to a lot of what you're saying in the video. A lot of us don't see the light at the end of the tunnel. But let's hope for the best. Don't feel bad about not fitting in with the rest of the crowd. Because you took your life in your own hands and are building a future. Seriously you got real lucky that you didn't waste years working some pointless jobs until you realized that you can do better than that. I know so much about your country and culture...and life events have prevented me from ever visiting your country. I appreciate your content, and portrayal of your life in Russia. When I was her age, I didn't know where I was going or how I would get there, but I felt incredible pressure from everyone it seemed to get a plan, to make something of myself and my life.
Over the years I have come across people of that age from rural backwaters, from remote islands, from nameless suburbia, and from major world shaping metropolises such as London, New York, Los Angeles, Tokyo. And none of them knew where they were going or how to get there, and all of them felt under tremendous pressure by parents, teachers and society to do something great, and do it now.
And the thing is, almost nine of us ended up where we though we were going. Most of us are quite happy, and indeed a few thank their lucky stars things took a different path than they had in mind back then. And we learned that most of the people who really cared about us, just wanted us to grow up and be happy with ourselves, And the rest would only be happy when we failed.
It's okay to be lost, it;s okay to loose your way. Life is the journey not the destination - corny, bit true. Just dont lose yourself along the way and you will be okay.

Natasha's editing skills are great and can be subtle and fun--sometimes like watching a puzzle with mysteries, hints, and clues. I think what she does naturally in her productions cannot be taught--you either have it or not. She has it.

I really admire your courage for sharing your struggles with loneliness and hopelessness with us all, Natasha. A lot of people have felt similar feelings but suffer in silence. I used to feel lonely but now I feel numb and feel no need to be with other people anymore. It's important that you stay connected with your friends and family, even if you have to force yourself to try. Otherwise, loneliness can easily become a vicious cycle that makes you less likely to socialise and actually worse at being in social situations. Whenever you feel low, always remember that you have a community of people who value and appreciate you greatly. The same goes for any random stranger on the internet out there
Traveling helps , she needs to change her location . It seams to work for her , to keep filming and engaging with the viewers . It is easy to get depressed in a small town where there is nothing to do

I, for one, am glad that you do what you do. I would guess that most of us westerners have never heard about all these places in Russia's far east and you are bringing them to light and educating us. Keep up the great work and I hope you continue to document more places that we do not know anything about. I know I really like it when I get to see the small towns and villages in areas that I have not been. Everyone has heard and seen all the big places, like Moscow, but it is interesting to see the more rural areas.

As an American, I dont believe I had too many misconceptions about Russia when I first started watching your channel. That said, my eyes have been opened to a lot of cultural similarities (mostly in the small towns and neighborhoods of rural Russia/USA). That said, in this video alone, I find out that a lot of Russia's medical care isnt "free" and the protests are a bit more open than I expected (for all causes). I have definitely fallen in love with the Russian outdoors and parks after mostly seeing Russian cities in media growing up (similar to how other countries dont see Montana or Vermont, they see the cities in California and New York on TV). I feel like I could pack up and live in Siberia right now, but I already live in a place where it's beautiful to look in all 4 directions and it is painfully cold half of the year. The next time I move, it will be to a place where there is no word for "snow shovel"

As an American, what interested me in your channel was and is how you show and talk about life in Russia. It is very far from where I live and kind of a mystery what everyday life is like there. What I have learned is the people in Russia are just like people here in USA. I always wanted to learn to speak Russian. I really appreciate you giving me a new perspective on Russia. Like I said before it was always kind of mysterious to me but I feel connected in a way now. Life does seem a bit harder there but I love your culture and some very beautiful parts in Russia. Yes to using TH-cam as a stepping stone to something else. It does not last. I lost 2 favorites, Kim Iverson and Sierra Ky, to some rule break, or maybe just defunding.

This sounds wired, but loneliness and human connection are really important to all health. Isolation has been known as a killer since Cave Dwelling Days. I am an ugly old man with no actual kids and a widower. As a result, I openly, at least to myself, allow a pretend connection to TH-camrs like you.
