Another great and informative video, Mick. I much prefer the clock-face approach. Much easier to play, once you understand the angles
Thanks Mick. Please keep it up. I especially like the videos where you talk through a clearance and talk about the patterns
Plenty of them coming up. Stay tuned!!
You are the best, you rilly give it all when you explain. It makes everything easy to understand. Thanks man...

Hi mick great vids mate , would you be able to show how to play the white of the jaw knuckle to go across the table to the opposite pocket ?? Thanks
Superb mick !! Loving the content 🎱
Glad to hear it!
Loving the channel Mick. The clock face method is a bit of a revelation! Could you elaborate on the “natural” grip you talk about? Perhaps in another video?
Yes, I’ll bang on about it for a while 👍.
Thank you so much mister Mick.
Thanks.
Nice video mick 👏🏻
Thanks 👍
Thank you so much ❤️
You’re welcome 😊
A proper masterclass as per all your videos
Thank you.
Hi Mr Hill. I Love your videos thanks for sharing your knowledge. Can I ask you a question..can you maybe do a video on your personal routine when you practice for a big event and what hours do you put in the routine?
Yes will do. Thanks for the suggestion.
Can't wait ti
Can't wait to see this next vidéo..
Hey Mick thank you for the great content! what cue are you using/you play with?
We will be covering that in a future video.
Brilliantly explained again.
I’ve used the clock face method for as long as I can remember, and encourage my team mates to try it too.
Here’s a question about natural angles, as I understand it there are two natural angles, one for a rolling cue ball as it hits the object ball, and the other for stun shots.
I’ve only ever seen a "rule of thumb" online relating to 9 ball natural angles and maybe the same applies to snooker too.
As I understand it for 9 ball, a stun shot will deflect the cue ball away at 90° from the path of the object ball, and a rolling cue ball will deflect around 35° away from the object ball path, both cases being between a 1/4 ball and 3/4 ball hit on the object ball. Anything outside that’s is completely variable.
So, the question for me is, like you say, the cue ball is smaller and lighter in 8 ball, so do these “natural” angles differ much from those of 9 ball and snooker, where the cue balls are same size and weight as the object balls?
Is there rule of thumb for natural angles in 8 ball, like there is for 9 ball?
For me, a stun shot is when the cue ball is sliding when it hits the object ball, would that be right?
I’m aware that the 8 ball cue ball will almost always move back slightly once it hits the object ball with any moderate pace, even with top spin, before it goes anywhere, so how much do those natural angles differ in 8 ball?
Be great to see if you could shoot a video covering that.
Many thanks for the great work so far, really appreciate them and a pleasure to watch.
Lots of questions in there, thanks for commenting. In short, due to the size and weight of the cue ball, the physics of the balls would slightly differ from other cue sports where the balls are the same weight and size.
Please ask at the upcoming live Q&A session if you need more details and/or we might cover off in future videos.
@@mickthemachinehill Cheers Mick, yeh I went a bit overboard with that, I could have worded it better I think 😂
This is an excellent post because on commentary you are always talking about "play the natural" and keep it simple, but on these vids on clock face you are imparting spin and instructing cue ball each shot. I think the reason amateurs like us stun balls is because we think with stun we are actually playing the natural, because we learn through playing to judge the naturals at 90 degrees tangent line,. Hence we stun to try and guarantee the ball stays on the line we think is correct. This means we struggle with pace control, esp with smaller cue ball. As per the other poster would be great to do a video on actually what is the natural and judging the natural in 8ball clock face method. I am confused by difference in hitting centre ball with smooth action, Vs stun centre ball and effects on cue ball, or for clock face are you saying play 12 o'clock as the natural... .. which intuitively for me is bringing the ball forward from tangent line and hence isn't the natural....
We have videos coming up on playing naturals. Stay tuned.
@@mickthemachinehill looking forward to them. Looks like China was good! 👍
I have a idea about the next video for having a right answer:
Wan you will hit the cue ball with a said spen ,the object ball change the path?
We have some videos on aiming coming up that will go into the detail you’re after. 👍
How do pro players practice Mick ? Do you just knock a few balls in, you know all the shots already il be interested to know
We are going to cover that off in a future video. 👍
Partridge
What is a cannon?
When the cue ball hits another ball after striking the first ball.
@@mickthemachinehill thank you
4:53 Foul Mick, my turn!
Wait the cue ball is smaller than the object balls? Who came up with that 😂
😂
I wasn't the same you must have aimed differently
we will cover aiming in a future video.
