    There's always an awkward ball, and trying to chase the other balls around to get an angle to cannon it only to scratch or snooker youself is soul destroying. If you can solve that problem your pool strength instantly increases.

    Although I'm just a pub player I did know these shots however in the heat of battle sometimes there forgotten quite easily, however this teaches you to not be so sloppy and look for these options many thanks Mick.

    Technically an in-off is a cannon, its just a cannon into the pocket using the object ball instead of the white.

    Fantastic vid Mick!
    I definitely want to see these options more - I'll spot obvious ones but much less so when it has to be cushion first then in-off. Definitely failed a lot of dish attempts by throwing my arm at a cannon, getting the intended contact but not the outcome.
    Keep em coming - these are excellent and always really watchable

      @@mickthemachinehill I was thinking about when you play one ball off an opponent's ball to pot it. How do you gauge the point at which to contact the opponent's ball? In one of your examples you came off cushion first, then the ball, and it's the point at which I need to contact in order to get the pot that I often can't see.

    Do you think these shots are more difficult on the Australian 7ft tables with the pocket shape differing, different cloth etc? I heard a comment on an ultimate pool match between aus and mauritaus i think, where the commentator said Aussies tend to play cannons with too much pace and he chalked it up to the inexperience of playing on supreme tables.

    I have a hard time with listening to people talking about Pool shots from England... I never understand what they mean my cannon or cannoning... at one point I thought they meant a combination shot. But it's clear here that he's not talking about combinations... I need someone to translate English to English for me... :D I think at some point he allured to a cannon being like breaking out the balls by sending the cue ball into them? Does cannon simply mean "blasting" into the balls with the cue ball? Is it another word for billiard shot? He played a Carom instead of a Cannon at one point. And he played a "ticky" shot instead of a cannon. I really hate the name "ticky" shot... I wish it had a better name. Anyways... can someone explain clearly what is meant by "cannon" in pool?

    • @Deadeye1967
      @Deadeye1967 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It just means the cue ball hits any other ball after contacting the object ball, accidentally or intentionally, intentional cannons to stop or hold the cue ball for position purposes or split a cluster or to pot another ball is usually where you hear it. Technically any contact with other balls with the cue-ball after hitting the object ball is a cannon, it's nothing special, it's just an old term from the original Billiards game. You can attempt a combination shot by cannoning into balls, but it's more "he cannoned into the ball achieving a combination pot".
