  • Here is the biggest 80s jazz fusion compilation yet! My last two mixes were big hits, but have become ad-ridden. This mix is a collection of some of the rarest 'lost gems' of the 80s-early 90s contemporary jazz realm, all selected from my large collection of LPs, cassetts and CDs. A lot of these songs are unheard & have been forgotten about by most, and have never been heard online. Many of the albums featured in this ultimate mix I've shared at some point on my channel. I wanted to recreate the feel of tuning into 94Q Jazz Flavours, WNUA, The Wave, KJZZ stations back in the 80s-early 90s era!
    So...enjoy a non-stop 7-hour playlist of some of KJC's choice selections, and maybe a martini or two!!
    I host two smooth jazz radio shows on WQNA, in Springfield, Illinois, and have uploaded airchecks from my shows here:

      Ah yes, CD 101.9 originally started up by Russ Davis from down my way in Atlanta where he hired Jazz Flavors from 1978-1988. That’s where I heard a lot of this music back then

      I was still too young to be experienced to anything past top 40 radio and pop hits. Michael Jackson, Billy Ocean, and other stuff like that was what I exposed to the most. I wish my parents listened to this kind of stuff, I would have loved it!

    I'm getting an education from your site on artists I didn't know existed. The Breeze Network was the station I enjoyed, and they had a deep playlist, especially for a satellite network. For you, 94Q must have been a similar revelation. Each service/station had similar playlists and styles. It was probably best that there weren't presets on my radio with different shades of stations like these--I would never have gotten anything else done.

    • @KJCMuzique
      @KJCMuzique  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I'm glad, hope you discovered some new favorites, or maybe some forgotten ones. 94Q "Jazz Flavours" was just like this mix, but to me Jazz Flavours was so special because it had deep roots in jazz rock fusion emerging in the late 60s and 70s, and from 1978-1989 the show slowly evolved to incorporating everything from chart artists, to local groups and imported music that wasn't even available at the time, even to this day. I truly miss those days, if I had not lived near ATL, I may not have been exposed to this music and would not have been inspired to start collecting as a teen.

    What's Up KJCMuzique, Man I just finished this one and man you got some great tracks in this one. I was doing some woodworking in the garage and just turned this on No Fuss, just great music. thank you This is a great ya'll.................By the way this is how WNUA in Chicago use to be; when they first started out. With NO DJs just great music, and a station ID ad every now and then..

    • @KJCMuzique
      @KJCMuzique  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Man, 94Q "Jazz Flavours" on WQXI was basically this playlist with the occasional vocal tune here and there, which I enjoyed as well. Russ would play everything from "chart" jazz albums, local artists, and highly obscure import albums that he obtained while travelling. He played many foreign artists he discovered at the Montreux jazz fest that he went to annually. Somebody just sent me a tape they recorded off of 94Q Jazz Flavours in 1986 that has some tunes I don't even remember hearing before on it, hope to upload it on here soon.

    This is a GREAT playlist! I’m looking for a song that isn’t on here though. I don’t know the name of it or the artist but it features a piano lead with a unique bass line. It was fusion with a bossa nova feel. I first heard it in 1980 (possibly 1979) but for the life of me I can’t find this song.

    Thank you very much for this great long playing album. Just perfect as overnight background music for full night relaxation. But I would appreciate much more with all ads taken away completely. Way too many annoying and despicable lousy ads that know nothing but fool off people for their money. Plus quite embarrassing and humiliating too in formal gatherings when while listening to good sound an ad suddenly blurts out in the middle, even twice louder than the music itself as if coming from nowhere and cuts off the pleasing ambiance created by the great music altogether. Sorry to say, unless the ads are eliminated, would not recommend the video played in parties or any gathering. But In general, i definitely love the video compilation but only dislike the ads that spoil it.
