Haha about time you did something for all that labor he has given you for free. Oops 🙊 haha bro just joking. Sorry had to get a new TH-cam account my old name was BigP which I talked with you on your channel about the I F pool in North Dallas area. Wife and I got hacked cause the AT&t breach. They hacked our accounts and took our phone numbers switched carriers on us.
That is an excellent framing carpenter crew! All the headers are properly sized and the floor joists, studs and rafters are "stacked." I'm glad to see professionals of that quality still exists.
I am so jealous, that "cabin" is bigger than my house and about 53 years newer. Soooo jealous! It will a great place to spend quiet relaxing times. Congrats on realizing a dream.
No need to remove the pretty holly tree - whether or not the maple makes it. Simply remove the lower half of the limbs from your holly tree and you can stand and look out the kitchen window to the pond - all the way to the far side. The holly tree will get taller and you will have a pretty view and a nice specimen tree.
It's what I would call a farm cottage - a little smaller than a house and a little larger than a cabin. No matter what it is a pretty setting and the colour scheme chosen will blend with the surroundings beautifully. That hay field is magnificent - great hay making weather too. Loving it all LetsDig18.
I remember when this was all a dream Chris had a few years back when he bought the additional property and started cleaning and clearing ,Knowing Chris it's going to be awesome
Thumbs up on the conditioned crawlspace. I did that to my crawlspace about five years age and it has made a huge difference in the comfort of the whole house. I'm on the water in eastern VA and humidity is no longer a problem and the maple floors are now stable from season to season. I used a system from a company in SC and it worked really well.
Chris try trimming up and or pruning the holly bush. I does have a great shape and there is a mate on the other side I think? You can always cut it down later. Beautiful cabin. Great attention to detail by the builder. Can't wait to see the siding and roof. Proud for you. Take care and have a great week.
☘️🇮🇪🇺🇸 wow Chris it’s GORGEOUS!!! Again you prove construction sites can be clean neat organised. The house is just perfect snugged in by the pond , you truly are a master of design blessing 🌹🙏🏼
Nice to see the cabin come together so quickly for Chris can't wait to see the rest of its done and thanks to the men you had to do and amazing job not wasting all the lumber cause the prices this days
Wow wow wow Beautiful house / cottage. Yup goodbye holly tree. Those smaller trees just need a little pruning. Drive a ring of holes around the maple at the drip edge. To put in fertilizer in them. To help boost the maple tree. You really do have a eye for perfection.
@@DeweyCheatumNHoweLLC Thats right for a vented crawlspace as usually there is insufficient venting. But even then, depending on how humid it is outside and how cold the a/c is set, you can still run into issues even with copious amounts of venting. Encapsulating and conditioning the crawlspace eliminates those problems. But encapsulating isn't right for every situation and is more expensive to construct than a vented space. Cancel Reply
@@95thousandroses Thanks. Now I understand it. Where I live, a crawl space is a novelty, usually a house built 100 years ago. That's why it's interesting to see that you can just level off a site, pack in good clay, and lay a slab on the ground. We have to go 4ft down for frost heave. But, we also get the benefit of having a huge basement to use.
Looks to me like Chris has one heck of a professional contactor he hires regularly. Same guy who built his house and the shop up next to his house. Gotta love a contractor who is frugal on wastage. That save lots of $$$$ for Chris.
Wow, now that`s quick progress, very little waste is right, this guy knows how to order. I drive by housing sites and you see all the waste in the middle of the yard that is just going into a dumpster, whole pallets of brick just sitting there unused, it`s crazy.
Hi Chris it's coming along nicely but it's a sham about the Holly tree there a beautiful tree and there evergreen witch would look nice in winter when the other trees lose there leaves, thank's for another great video.
Keep the holly tree if you can. At Christmas time lace it with coloured decoration lights and the usual trinkets to provide some thought and character. Try it for one Christmas, if it fails take it down afterwards.
Please save the holly tree. I would trim them all up so that you just have a top canopy, as somebody else is suggested, and then if it blocks your view which I don’t think it will from my La-Z-Boy, you could cut it if you have to. But I think trimming the trunks up so that you have a nice clear canopy underneath it might save the trees. I think all the trees along the water edge would be trimmed up to make a beautiful view. It’s already beautiful, but I think it would be better. Sorry for rambling.
Looks good Chris, very nice. I did the same thing on a beam in my sun room and was going to do the ends with steel plates to make it look more rustic, but I found a company that did all that in rubber "of course non structure" but the looks were phenomenal, imitates steel to the Tee!!! and lighter, HA!
Maybe I need to talk my wife into a vacation to North Carolina, looks like beautiful little spot to relax for a week. Great job your over seeing Chris.
I was wondering when you would cut the field, thank you. Keep the Holly tree, it frames the pond nicely. :) Thank you for the updates to cottage. Have a great day.
Very nice Chris…It’s great to see more of your dream and goals come true. All which is being made possible from customer satisfaction, dedication , lots of stumps ..lol..😂 and dawn to dusk hard work.
Chris mentions that the pond is lowering due to lack of rain. Makes me wonder how large an area his projects are spread over because he was plagued with rain on the recent concrete crushing series, as well as at other recent sites. Also, with the number of videos he posts there has to be a pretty good sized staff requirement to keep up with video production, meetings and quoting projects, operating the equipment, moving the equipment, maintaining the equipment, and all the other activities it would take to operate letsdig19. I'd be interested in seeing behind-the-scenes videos on how all this is accomplished. Yes, he did just show us maintenance being done on the mini but there is a lot of other equipment that needs constant maintenance. Keep up the good work, Chris!
Hey Chris, I have a medium sized request: Could you do a small tutorial for how you do track your work? I’m a freelancer and feel like I am over-thinking my to-do lists and project management system and would love to see how you do it. There’s a ton of noise out there from people selling all kinds of “productivity systems” but I’m thinking it would be helpful to see what you actually do to manage your work. Thanks man, cheers.
I'm loving it. I can see why you use this contractor. He tries to be as efficient as you doing a job. That's almost no waste and everything is done exactly like you asked. I'll be surprised if you aren't booking 2 years in advance for the cabin rental as soon as you announce it is available. Hope you don't have any issues with government inspections. We all know how things are with the government. I can't wait for the next update and hopefully you get a lot of hay also. Great video Chris.
Wow Chris, In the 40 years that I have worked in construction, that is one of the cleanest job sites I have ever seen! Your guys are really good and Hardly any waste as well. It is looking great, and I do love the vertical board and batten idea. Can’t wait to see the final result. Looks like the only thing missing is me there with a fishing pole and not a care in the world! Congrats man!
For some reason watching this entire cabin process has been very therapeutic. I have had money, giant houses and all the associated bs. I would think I died and went to heaven to live in that house.
We have a lake house on Lake Keowee in SC. It has a 12 x 40 back deck overlooking the lake. 1/3 of the deck is covered & screened. That’s the part of the deck we use 90% of the time so I’d encourage you to screen in the covered part of your back deck. Looking really great!! 👍😀
I like your cottage as you call it ! Please get someone to lay down some 6 mil poly on that crawl space dirt. Covering up those foundation vents would probably be a good idea too. Then install a small humidifier and you want ever have musty smells coming through your floors. I am alerting you of this because it cost a lot more to fix the problem later
Hey Chris! If you want that maple tree to bush out and make a great shade tree, try cutting off the top 3 to 6 feet and keep all the lower growth cut off.
Just an FYI, all that metal may be very noisy in a storm....even just a rain storm. Just think about it. It looks like this cottage is going to be such a beautiful vacation area.
Excellent progress, Chris. Like the siding a lot and easy maintenance is important. I'm glad you mentioned when the first cutting on your field was happening, it looks so close. Thanks for updating us on this. Looks awesome.
Looking good ,great setting and it's going to be a quality build . Hard to find old school builders who don't leave a mess, don't waste materials as you said . I've watch workers on sites sitting next to the rubbish skips ,eating lunch and just throwing their waste and rubbish on the ground . Hard case that the only machine left at home was the loader/tractor,guess you need double ups of the machines so you don't run out 😅
I WISH ALL BUILDERS WERE LIKE THAT 👍 👌 😕 WHERE I LIVE IN FLORIDA WHENEVER THEY BUILD THEIR IS AT LEAST 2 FULL SIZE DUMPSTERS !!😢😮...YOUR GUYS ARE DOING A GREAT JOB 👍 👌...AND SO ARE YOU!!!!..😊
The building looks wonderful and in context with the surroundings, I love it! You've got a good crew there, they clean up every day and do excellent work. Shame they are over the pond for us here in UK. They are not Polish by any chance are they? Seems some of the very best guys here are Polish, mind you with this country's history with Poland, it's not surprising. Thanks Chris you've got a good one there.
Hey Chris, I like the look of the cabin. I like the idea of a ramp, at least in the front. That makes it accessible for someone like me who uses a wheelchair. I wish I could visit a place like this, but I am not able to travel much anymore. Best of luck in your adventures.
Watched a couple of old guys building two houses near mine. They kept all the offcuts organized in the garage. Thy always checked that inventory before cutting into a new piece.
Hi Chris, that is going to be one really nice cottage, cabin, house, or whatever you call it it is looking really nice. Thanks for sharing, Chris, and god bless you. Be safe out there.
Chris, you just saved yourself a huge headache by blocking in the vents. In just a few years, there would have been evidence of dry rot starting in the floor joists and the smell that goes with it!
Nice🎉 I came through on something 😂
You really are useful :)

Chris, your vision of how you want it to look is really taking shape. It looks wonderful so far!
So refreshing to see construction done right & an efficient builder! This cottage will be a gem!

Encapsulated crawlspaces are the way to go in the hot humid South.
Odd, my sister in Jacksonville, NC says they keep wanting her to add more venting

Beautiful ! Just cut the lower branches of the holy tree, so you can see the pond below it and keep it as a screen at the same time.
I think I’d have put some bigger bifold doors on the rear in the living area to make better use of the outside space/view
