    cameras have a focal range, so you have to know the closest distance you can use for imaging. Check owners manual to see how to set your distances.

    Check the settings on your focus option for that camera, you can search you tube someone has probably had the same issue and posted a how to. Forums for that camera will exist as well and you can usually find a solution there as well. If your luck is like mine it's probably something minor or stupid that was overlooked lol. Great progress on the build!

    I'm right in the middle of building mine. Custom version except for the rear axle. The stock rear axle with the front dropped front axle gives it a nice looking rake. I also painted mine green. You did a really nice build on it.

    Nice build and a great video. Hope you can find the secret to getting that camera to focus, has me wondering if I should back off on the Jack Daniels ! You absolutely nailed it with that darkened green. Thanks for sharing.

  • @blue2824

    That turned out beautiful. If you haven’t already resolved your camera problem I might be able to help. First in the settings go to the metering menu and change it to (spot) and choose (center weight) then go into the display settings and select (grid). That may not be 100 % but it will definitely make things much easier for you because it will always focus on the subject that is in the center of the screen. And by having the grid displayed you will be able to center anything you want
    I hope that helps.

    Nice build, good color choice. I got the 1997 issue of that kit. Haven't built it yet. The original box art has the model in a dark Forrest green. And in the side photos, the engine is the same shade of green. Haven't decided what color to paint mine. I may go with a dark brown. The '97 issue, the only way you could build it was stock. Yes, the original colors were more a semi gloss. That is the way that the Mayfair Maroon is on my '41 sedan, on the firewall. That is the only area that still remains intact on it. It might not be a bad idea to get another shipping container for the other projects, and expand the model display cabinets into the other half of that container. It looks like it has come down to that option for model car display cases.

    The truck looks really good! Looks like more of a goin to town truck than a farm truck. The wood bed really sets off the color nicely. I think the problem with your focus is the background. There are too many objects at different distances it is trying to focus on. Get a black or gray piece of paper or board of some kind to put your stuff on and then zoom in on that. Hope that helps, just an idea.

  • @seanh2390
    @seanh2390 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    not sure if anyone else has already mentioned this but the focus issue may be more related to your technique than a shortfall with the camera. things seem to come into focus a lot quicker on close ups when the item you are focusing on is on the table / has a solid background immediately behind it. I am guessing this makes it easier for the camera to figure out what to focus clearly on, mainly because there are fewer choices / depths to sort through.

  • @MonsterHobbiesModelCarGarage

    did the camera come with a manual? There might be a way to lock out the auto-focus feature so the lens stays at the same focal plane.

    @toddbreitenstein8522 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Really cool build! I like the spare tire on the side a lot. Nicely done.👍🏼
    I feel like some of the focus problems with your camera may be how bright the area where you’re filming is. It seemed to focus on the interior where it is darker much better than stuff on your bench. I’m no professional, just a thought of something you can experiment with.

  • @daveelliott6230
    @daveelliott6230 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Is the focus adjustable on the camera? Have you tried a less sensitive setting? Maybe it's trying too hard.

  • @JoCat05
    @JoCat05 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Regarding your technical issue with the camera. You’ve mentioned it’s new and cost you a lot of money. Not knowing the brand or model. Just in general some of the higher end cameras have an internal setting for minimum and maximum focusing distance. This allows for faster focusing by keeping the camera from searching back and forth across the entire range. You may just need to go into settings and adjust the minimum focal distance. Hope this helps. Thank you for all your insight and tips,

  • @stevemalachinski5001
    @stevemalachinski5001 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Nice build. I think you would be better off putting the camera on some type of stand the focus problem is because you are constantly moving which is quicker than the camera can focus.

    Looks awesome!!! What's the name & brand of paint ???

  • @FMChimera
    @FMChimera 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    HA! First.
    Dude, the camera has a LOT of surrounding items to pick out focus. Moving the camera in and out after putting an item in front of it makes it even slower. Once you put something in front of it to focus on DON'T MOVE. Just give it a couple seconds. There are probably settings you could adjust to speed it up, but it's working as is, it just needs a little extra time/Stability.

    You showed your model shelf briefly at the end, and I had been thinking about asking you to do a video showing your line of built models. Not all-sides of each, but a few seconds on each one.
    In the beginning of videos, you pan across the shelf and it's hard to see everything.
    i don't know what camera you bought, but i think your lens depth of field isn't right for your workbench area, which isn't really all that deep from front to back, and the auto focus struggles to find mid-range. If you had the camera on a tri-pod, it might not struggle so much. Each time your hand moves, the software has to re-check all the measurement points around the screen in the background, and it stays blurred until it gets to steady-state. It doesn't know what you want it to focus on.

    I love watching your videos, but that camera of yours is constantly screwing with my eyes! It's been so bad at times that I have had to stop watching the video! Hope you get it fixed soon, don't think I can continue to watch your video's, and that is a shame, because I like your work,!
