I bought the daytona. It was one of the the greatest moments of my life as I saved 10 years to buy that watch. I flew from Amsterdam to London and took a coffee after 3 hours went back. Now I can do a little research and hopefully find out what what she is worth.
Great that will fetch you some cash. *I used to be a collector, but I liquidated my collection to venture into real estate. In January, I acquired homes in Malibu for $45million, and the returns on investment far exceed what I earned as a collector.
How did you grow your portfolio to $45m, I'm impressed, I have a lump sum in the bank, the rates are not impressive so I'm moving it, what's your cash flow like?
David's purpose in the video is mainly for informative purposes and for the views. I understand that a lot of people are sensitive about the word "investment" when associated with watches, but the fact is that certain watches are assets for collectors. The only time watches are more "liquid" is when you are in the watch business and trading watches daily.
Hi David, i hope you and all your family & friends are all keeping healthy & you are all having a positive, joyful, happy abundant year so far, another genuine, honest video i always enjoy watching listening & Leaning keep up all the positive hard work & content wishing you a positive productive new week filled with joy happiness kindness love & gratitude for everything we receive each day 🙏 best wishes
I found 2 Rolex watches a his and hers in my father's things after he passed away. I would like to sell them but I don't know how to search if they are stolen or even fake. Any suggestions?
Nice to see a watch dealer act in a professional manner and not get drawn into all the irrelevant schoolgirl drama of most you tube watch people lately…
I'm not interested in dealing selling etc. But Rolex Subs ? browsing in AD's in Bahrain , Dusseldorf and Madrid. None in stock! All quoted days or weeks to get a SS Sub no date 2024 model year. And well above retail. Even though prices have dipped No complaints. I just like the Sub I bought from Watch collectors of course!
No profit on an oyster perpetual unless it’s a rare dial? Seen black dial 41mm being marked at £8k. That’s £2.5k over list, without the watch advertised being brand new. If there’s no profit in that for the seller then that’s on the dealer tbh.
Correct. I bought my first steel Submariner Date in 2015 for £5,700 from an AD straight out of the window. Now tell me what you can buy out of a shop window today for that money? 9 years later every time I wear that watch it feels special. Maybe I’m just an enthusiast who appreciates a fantastic product that keeps delivering nearly a decade on.
Give u some truth. ADs are keeping them in the safe . It’s not that they have, it’s that they r trying to get u to buy sth before it gets released to u . But how long can this lasts ? Watches are not moving, the younger gen doesn’t even like watches much, the 30s and above are either sick and tired of the games played or have owned what they already want. Don’t believe me ? Check out the financial report of listed companies selling watch in 2025 . They will be in crisis. As for grey dealer , they will start closing. Buy only when this happens , be the king , don’t make others ur king
David missed out the Explorer 2. For me that's a watch that never had much hype-value, even during the days of peak madness. But they are genuine tool watches worn by a certain type of guy (think middle/upper class, ex-forces, Bear Grylls types) who genuinely don't give a monkey's about the re-sell value.
Hi the state of the watch market I've just been offered a trade in on a Tudor black bay chronograph wight panda 🐼 at a 63% loss from new six months old unworn with fully stickered this is the state of the watch market now £4750 to £1900 in six months the watch market is in free fall please let me know if you think I'm wrong thanks John.
Need to wake up and see sense regarding watch prices, the black and grey gmt master is retailing at £17,995, times have changed and that new release is 💩
A decent investment down the road in 20,30, 40 years ONLY if Rolex remains the company it is today. A slight gamble ever so much - quality will need to remain the same or better, output of units needs to be conservitive and Rolex management will need to guide the ship as it has all these decades. Companies change, products change, consumers habits, desires change, and lastly the world changes. Been a Rolex customer since the 80's and love the brand. Looking 30-40 years into the future for possible what IF value is risky as anything else. CHEERS!
Spot on - basically, a normal market. I’ll buy a 9th Datejust because … my daughter, wife, mistress (😉) wants one - steel and gold. Why else? Then I’ll get GMT & Daytona steels … because I’m a good customer. Simples.
Watches are the only collectible asset where grown men get their panties in a bunch when financials are discussed, every other collectible from Pokemon cards, coins, art, Hermes bags, the financial discussion part of the collecting is welcome.

It’s not hating to disagree with you mate. Here’s the thing, your advice is great for flippers and dealers, but if I took your advice, I’d have a watch I don’t like on my wrist. When I purchase a watch man, I could give a flying flux about value retention cuz I’m not looking to make money with watches. I don’t sell my watches because It was love at first sight. The average owner is not sweating the value because if they’re willing to spend 10k on an OP, they’re probably making a pretty good living. Not everybody wants a 60k+ watch. Horrible advice lol, but I understand, you’re a flipper and you probably have said watches that you need to unload. Watches are HORRIBLE INVESTMENTS IN EVERY WAY….

I have a financial advisor (trader) she grows my liquid assets and I reinvest the weekly payouts back into real estate and long-term ETFs.
Sure, could you please share her name with me or any details so I can look her up online? Thanks!
You did fine until you talked about investing in watches vs others. I'm pretty sure investing $10k in equities will do far better than watches.

Intelligent & common sense advice from a man who knows his stuff !!
Thanks for the honest perspective of the market.

Blue Steel Sky Dweller is the one! What a watch!

Buying watches depends on someones own attitude. Some ppl don’t mind buying used, others may never buy used, accepting losses. Same with cars…

A sport rolex must be kept at least 5 years to secure its value. Wear it and enjoy it 5 years. 😊

Might be more attributed to rising inflation..
Yuck, wearing a metal clunker on my wrist ...status? No., no one cares. Buy a dRumpf watch if you have money to waste.
Always an informative watch 👍🏻no pun intended
David, can you give us a primer about Cartier please? Vintage or new, What Tank is too small for a 7inch wrist, Tank Solo or Louis, etc.
Looking to buy my first rolex, would you advise buying without a box and papers even though the watch has been checked for authenticity?
The watches above you listed, do they have mid-long term appreciation?
Brutal truth... As it should be
Enjoyable video David some watchs are long term investments and just wear them.
@watchcollectorUK what about meteorite dial white gold GMT? Good buy at retail or not? Thanks
Premiums in the past and going forward in part is hype created....Thx D!! Word!
Good stuff as always
Thanks for sharing your point of view.
I was very lucky to have got my watches below retail from the start
Still can’t get a GMT, Skydweller, Sub, Daytona, Date Just anywhere.

The last one was a 1908, not a Cellini you commented on.
Cellini? That gone! 1908 shown.
whats your opinion on 116520?
Great watch and prefer it over the ceramic one. Looks and feels more luxurious.

What do you think about navitimer b01 value retention
The new black and grey GMT is going for 25k. The retail on that watch is just over 10k.
People might be asking that much, they won't be selling fir that price
How do you know what it is selling for ?

Stick to new stainless steel Rolex sports models if your aim is profit. Avoid the undesirable vintage stuff.
Buy a watch you love, wear it, own it. Invest in equities

Thanks for your amazing advice , it’s very enlightening
is it just me or the voice volume of the video is super quiet?
If you put 10k to Bitcoin for 30 years I'm pretty sure it will do better than putting 10k to Rolex Sub for same amount of time
But you can't indulge wearing a bitcoin on your wrist all those years.
lets hope i dont die in 30 years
Putting 10k and you'll be hoping every day of those 30 years bit coin isnt worth tuppence
...and it is still investing in nothing but hype . Phys anything is better.
Yes
I buy what I like, but it’s also important that it will increase in time over the years.
Don’t think thats a Cellini David :-)
Talking about the range and style 👍
Bro i will sell gari is it real rolex
Who wears watches? I guess they are phys, but still mostly hype. I will stick to my sundial.
