I appreciate the coverage Zee long winded but: There's been a lot of misinformation surrounding that Jang clip that’s been making the rounds in the Mega fandom. Merchandisers can and do send compliance reps to check for brand standards that will measure shelf space if they have reports that say another product is encroaching on their allocated (rented) shelf space. You see this more in the grocery section, usually in the junk food section. Chocolate companies and soft drink companies are especially notorious for this. LEGO, though, is in no way telling the likes of Walmart, Target, Amazon, etc. what they can and cannot do. “Eighteen inches of shelf space” is absurd. The idea that LEGO is threatening to pull its products from shelves is simply not true. Perhaps with a small one-off location like a “mom and pop,” but not with any notable retailer. Threatening to pull your stuff is not a game any company wants to play with any of the aforementioned retailers. LEGO can and does call their rep and complain like they do when a retailer puts something out early when they are not supposed to effectively leaking something that has not been announced, straining their relationship with, say, Disney, surrounding a new movie (typically Marvel/Star Wars). That’s usually as far as it will go, though. Companies rent and, in some instances, quite literally own shelves in some stores; it depends on what has been negotiated with that retailer. Herein lies the issue: Mattel rents or buys the shelves and invests what they want where they want; hence, the Barbie section is huge and the Mega section is often small. There's not enough room for the entire lineup, so Pokémon sets take up available space, as that’s what consistently sells the best. I also don’t know what deal has been arranged. (Between Mega and Nintendo, they likely have high expectations.) Different agreements with different retailers explain why Target has a fairly big area for MEGA and why Walmarts are usually small and near the floor (eye level is more expensive). Mattel could choose to rent more shelf space, but it is also competing for that space with LEGO and other building block brands and does not feel that it’s worth the cost in most cases. Too long didn’t read; Mattel doesn’t think it’s worth the cost or effort to expand the MEGA section over what it currently has. So space is limited to what currently sells the best (Pokémon).
So when it comes to mercari are there deferent cost depending on your country and if so is there a way you can change that so it shows it also do they ship internationally
@@DemarcationMediawell shit I live in Canada man I hope I can get the figures I want ac flood brute and elite cqb also I like lego but why they do mega dirty
Lego has been getting more and more cut throat and i really don't understand why, they're already stupidly profitable and as you said they basically already have a monopoly over building brick sets only thing i can think of as to why they're this way is they're a corporate mega company that wants money and nothing else, and maybe because they're STILL salty about their patent on what is basically the best selling toy ever, going out of date and thus opening the flood gates before they could do anything about it
As Lego becomes more valuable more people invest and as more people invest the more they want to see a return on investments so Lego has to become more cutthroat
Theirs a Safeway near my house and it sells these blind bags all the time so I will do what I can 😊 (I’m only a teenager and I love collecting Halo Mega)😅

Every time I go to a target and look for some potential mega sets, all I can find is Pokémon, and I go once a month to see if they even added some blind bags to purchase but there is still 5+ old Pokémon sets, and I’m stuck to Mercari and Amazon for sets or minifigs , I’m tired of it because I have to buy overpriced sets like the falcon from halo reach, which it was really hard to find a price that’s not 300+, but I still like Pokémon I think it’s a really good line I even bought some sets, but I still prefer halo.
Ramos was a green ODST. Granted it's a named character... but the real reason I'm commenting is I had an idea for a comparison video. The new red team rescue flame hog vs the original flame hog.
I'll be honest with you. I don't think there's any way we can fight scalpers as long as Mega and Motel are working with them. When they put a set on Mattel creations and it sells out within a couple of hours they know they should put out more. Scalpers buy huge amounts so that fans are forced to buy from them. If Mattel announces they will put out more and continuously do so, the scalpers will stop buying because they can't make a profit. In the meantime Mattel is always going to make profit because somebody is buying their products (either the scalpers or the fans) Unfortunately I have dealt with collecting from Mattel for over 4 decades. I knew this was going to be the problem as soon as they bought Mega Brands. This and I know that Mattel's distribution is absolutely horrible and always has been. So as long as Mega is put out in amounts that scalpers can buy up immediately, they will always be working with the scalpers whether intentional or not
Saying that Mega and Mattel are working with scalpers is not entirely a fair statement. This is an issue with many collectibles and toys right now and it doesn't matter if there are high amounts, scalpers will still find a way to sell for high prices. Take the action figure scene, for example. There are too many for the scalpers to buy all of, so you know what they do? They steal the heads and sell those online. The only real way to combat scalping is to drive the reselling prices down. Yes Mega could try to produce more, but that isn't a solution. On top of that, if the excess product doesn't sell (looking at you, Razorback), then Mega has lost money from it all.
Raising production is exactly what would work. Scalper's work on the basic premise that collectors are scared they will never find What They Want. So they pay a high price to get it to make sure they don't miss out. If Morris produced, then there is more invitory out there. The fear becomes less and the scalpers cannot get the extreme markups. Example: Again, look at when the Falcon Sweep sold out on Mattel Creations. If right away if it was announced that more were going to be made, the scalpers have to either continue buying all of the supply or sell as quickly as they could to not lose their money. If there's a fear of making too many then you let it be a pre-order so that you only make what people want. Comparing this to the razorback as comparing apples and oranges. When you look at more razorbacks being brought into target stores the market was already saturated. That's why they sat on shelves and do to this very day. That's got nothing to do with scalpersOr a product that people couldn't find. That was just target ordering too much and that's all it is.
If you took the alpha 9 team and put them into a 4 pack and sold it only on Mattel Creations you would control the scalping as well. Unlike their poorly planned attempt at selling the fan vote set, If they say for 2 months all the orders that are made will be filled it would stop the scalping. Everybody would have a chance to get it. And I'm not gonna call it scalping if it's a set that after a couple of years somebody had extras and sold it for a higher price. Let's be real. If you can't afford to buy a set of 4 figures in 2 months then you were not gonna be able to afford it if you found it in the store
@@sheerkhanindustries4384 I have to agree with everything you have said. Whilst I admire Zee's attempt to rally the community to tackle the scalpers there is an obvious flaw in his plan (Sorry Zee but I've got to say it). If 'true fans' of the community carry out Zee's request and start buying boxes of figures (or any other Mega Halo product that is in demand) to then sell on eBay etc for a dollar or 2 more than retail, they are unlikely to end up in the hands of other 'true fans', it will be the scalpers that buy them all up, just for a dollar or 2 more than they would have paid originally, they'll still end up in the wrong hands being sold for 5 x retail the next day. Scalpers spend all day everyday on eBay and other sites checking listings and they often have the ability to act immediately. All this method would do is change the source the scalpers are buying them from. I also agree that the 'only' way to combat scalping is to make enough product to satisfy demand in the first place, a text book example of this is the 20th character pack. After an initial release that was almost instantly scalped form the face of the internet, they then went on to be sold for 12 months by scalpers for up to 4 x retail. MEGA then thankfully produced a second batch, these have been in stock on Amazon for almost 12 months at retail or often less. Now, all of the scalpers that bulk bought the first wave and very likely still have hundreds sat in storage can choose to either sell at retail and cut their losses or sit on them for an undetermined length of time, sitting on product isn't how scalpers make their money so which ever way you look at it MEGA delivered a firm blow to scalpers by doing the right thing with this set, producing more than enough to meet demand. This is how you beat scalping. I also wouldn't worry about Mega producing more than the market requires as without doing this they are destined to fail anyway and then all of this will come to an end. Lego almost consistently make sure they have enough product to saturate the market, so much so that Lego is always on clearance somewhere. I've heard Lego still manage to make a few $ profit whilst employing this tactic. For MEGA to survive long term they have to have product on shelf, right now that's Pokemon as that's what sells. I find it laughable how much abuse the MEGA HALO community throws at MEGA in the comments section of anything that's not HALO. It's IPs like Pokemon that are keeping the lights on whilst HALO goes through these dark times. We should be grateful that MEGA has Pokemon and other IPs or they probably would be in trouble. I'm not trying to offend anyone here and try to stay out of this kind of debate as I find the shortsightedness of many to be frustrating, it also bothers me how aggressive people are to MEGA in their comments sections. Seeing how aggressive people can get with no concern of how their comments will be effecting those people on the other end of them bothers me greatly, especially when these people always seem to be the ones that call themselves the 'biggest fans'. That's the longest comment I've ever written and bound to ruffle a few feathers but I guess sometimes you just gotta get it out.
.you can hear peoples thoughts? You have ESPN?!?!?! We have no Krogger. I have never seen Mayor. The last place i bought a blindbag was at Walgreens, and they are no longer carrying them. Heavy Sigh. I live in a small beach town. The closest Walmart is 13 miles away, and Target is about 65 miles away in a city.
Would you consider someone that sells them for 40 a scalper for the full set ,also would the 2000 dallor infection form as a scalper or a great deal or just a joke the lego thing is crazy I never heard someone say that before
when scalpers buy these things, and hoard hundreds of sets, is that still money going to mega? like are they buying all those sets from mega and then selling it for double to get more? if so, mega is probably doing fine financially. its Halo itself as a whole im more worried about honestly.
I am honestly tired of this rumor. Jang, although I like him and enjoy his videos, is often ignorant in his views and puts out *alot* of false information. One of which is the one about shelf space and Lego. You can go to any store and measure the shelves and see that most if not all obviously have 18 inches of shelf space. Brands rent shelf space. Mattel buys it and has people design how the shelf is setup. Same with LEGO and Hasbro. They don't constitute what stores are allowed to have or not have because stores buy stock and sell shelves. Shelves are modular and each link is standard of 4-6 feet for toys. And shelves are rented per link. So based off Jangs misinformation, brands have to pay for say 6 feet, and have to give away 54 inches of the total 72. This simply isn't true and an inefficient way of stores operating. One brand cannot and does not dictate how other brands setup their shelves, they can only dictate how stores setup their product on the shelves. One such regulation when I was working at Target is that Lego can share one side of the aisle with other building block toys. I think it is harmful for Jang to spread this information. He is not a "holy one" in the sense that he knows everything. but because of his size and influence whatever he says is taken as gospel when it shouldn't. As I have said before in Simon's discord, the fault of MEGA's unavailability is at fault of ourselves and stores. Our nostalgia fueled Bungie Boners judged 343 into a hole, and created lots of company issues which came out with a mediocre game that didn't get sales. So stores don't want to buy a product that is iffy whether it will sell or not. Stores not buying product makes it incredibly difficult for MEGA to sell their product. Especially with a parent company that knows that MEGA is not their big money maker, That is HotWheels and Barbie. So it is not cost effective to put money into MEGA when that would allocate resources away from the big sellers. Its a cluster of screw-ups. Multiple things went wrong at the same time. One thing that would fix it is an online store. Mattel Creations or Mattel's other online shop holding MEGA would not entirely solve the issue, but could slow the decent. selling BBs in cases, Halo Heroes individually and all sets on Mattel Creations would create more money for the brand, getting the attention of big box stores.
If you have any sources to confirm info to the contrary of what Jang said, I'd love to see them. I do agree in part though, the amount of negativity that the community turned into a laser-guided missile against 343 helped tank Halo and then Microsoft's bad choices tanked it more, which resulted in stores not wanting to carry ANY Halo toys. Even Jazwares is freakishly hard to find now.
Lego has some good things about it and calling it trash is a bit heavy-handed. Mega has a lot of good too and saying one or the other is better is hard

Finally getting around to this video. Building the figs was never that bad. With the sole exception of the mid torso joint. That was infinite pain. Curious what Simon is hinting at. Only notable thing I've seen is return of the spiker. Everything else I've seen people mention around places.

Besides the fur color they used for the Brute, this series would have been perfect..... But then they made the most rancid figure ratio I have seen. Not only did they make the Brute and Grunt rare, there is more Spartan Helljumpers than Elites. What the hell where they thinking. I still love this series but man, it's so frustrating how close they were to perfection.
I have no issue with the grunt being a rare, but I do agree that there should have been more Elites than Helljumpers

I would be curious to know where Jang got his info. He's been in the Lego game for a LONG time and has a huge knowledge base for these things
Thank you, finally some one says it. People take Jang as gospel because of his size but its simply not true

I live in Canada but still a distribution issue for Canada
Lego has been getting more and more cut throat and i really don't understand why, they're already stupidly profitable and as you said they basically already have a monopoly over building brick sets
only thing i can think of as to why they're this way is they're a corporate mega company that wants money and nothing else, and maybe because they're STILL salty about their patent on what is basically the best selling toy ever, going out of date and thus opening the flood gates before they could do anything about it
Yeah, I'm just as confused
As Lego becomes more valuable more people invest and as more people invest the more they want to see a return on investments so Lego has to become more cutthroat

In the meantime Mattel is always going to make profit because somebody is buying their products (either the scalpers or the fans)
Unfortunately I have dealt with collecting from Mattel for over 4 decades.
@@sheerkhanindustries4384 That is true. I think online doesn't have the 'quick buy' factor that allows people to ignore the price like in-stores do
@@sheerkhanindustries4384 I have to agree with everything you have said.
I feel like 343s consistent blunders with Halo has done a lot of damage to Mega. They're missing a lot of new and old Halo fans.
Yes, and also older fans are too attached to nostalgia, so both things cause a lot of problems
.you can hear peoples thoughts? You have ESPN?!?!?!

⚠️⚠️⚠️WHERE⚠️⚠️⚠️
Explained in video
@@DemarcationMedia ya I saw thanks 😊
That Lego rule is just horrendous. Completely selfish and greedy of the company.
Some people are saying that rule isn't true, but I haven't found more proof for either claim. But Lego is cutthroat with competition anyway
