Rookie's name is actually Jonathan Doherty, a play on the name "John Doe", a name used as a placeholder when the true name of a person is unknown or is being intentionally concealed

After these iterations of Alpha 9, I don't see how can they be improved even further. They're just perfect! When they were first leaked I was like nah, but I'll definitely get my hands on them at some point.
Well Buck and Dutch could be slightly improved, but Mickey, Rookie and Romeo are pretty much perfect
they could improve greatly with stocking them, either in stores or on mattel creations
I really really hope we get the old Covenant Drop Pods too! Or even some new Banished ones.

These drop pods are so cool, and I’m glad we are getting alpha 9 again! I’ve never gotten a rookie and I’m glad that for a cheap retail price I can get him, such a nice looking fig with a great backpack and weapon! Great video and keep up the awesome reviews!

I used to have a few of the older drop pods so it’s cool to see them reuse the mold.
The added print is a HUGE bonus
Let’s go, Rookie! I loved that they made the best version of Rookie, I personally love this, and it is obviously better than the Anniversary version of Rookie with the redundant gold M7/Caseless SMG which I honestly dislike, like I want the actual colored figure rather than a gold version of the said figure. What is very cool is that Mega actually did listen to one of my comments I’ve made previously with your ODST Extermination pack video, where they actually are making the blood type somewhat mandatory for the figures as it is a cool move, it also adds another set of immersion too.
The drop pod is pretty nice, never really expected to have prints on it, but still, would’ve also agreed that the drop pod itself should be a functional one but that would’ve made it an easier steal for the thieves, considering how it’ll hinge open.
They did get Rookie's blood type wrong though...I didn't realize til after the video
cool to see one of the older molds back! still miss the original drop pod mold with all the moving bits and seating area

Dang. This look quite good. I’m still hoping for Mega to make drop pods like the old ones with moveable parts, since I had them in a store, but didn’t get them because they had the older figs (I regret this).

I do agree that having the more articulated pods return would be good. And yep, each member deserves the spotlight!

Man, I hope you get the whole set of alpha nine I spend my money, not that long ago for ODST hive set and red team from halo wars and NODST squad ambush so I don’t have any money left over to get the new ODST they’re hard to fine they don’t have them in store some websites have them like eBay. Hope you get the whole collection man. Good luck.
I do indeed have all 4 pods. These just came out so finding them is tough
While I do wish we still got new versions of the OLD old bloks style pods (with the actual hinged doors,) these are a really nice way of basically getting a halo hero with a display piece. The halo 5 and old style would be worth paying more for imo, but I totally understand why they went this route. I’m honestly happy to have another “walk into a store and pick up an inexpensive mega item” type product.
I was actually lucky enough to score the full set of 4 for $55 after shipping, which considering the awful release of these, is pretty amazing imo. I don’t have them in hand yet, but I’d say paying about $12 each is more than worth it for something that was hard to get at release.

Yeah updated versions of the full pods would have been great
I really wish mega would just bring back the old drop pods: they were so cool and it was actually my first set in 2010, the one with the red ODST with the rocket launcher, all they have done is move backwards. The figure looks nice tho, love the printed detail
Seeing the more detailed pods return would be great, but they'd have to rethink the way they released the sets to make that work. Maybe adding it in a larger set
I love these sets, cheap simple ways to get all of alpha 9.

I don't mind the simple drop pods *except* for the parachute being molded onto the top of the pod. I really wish Mega got rid of it because the parachute just doesn't stay on a drop pod like that for long. It's stored on a pod like that in the high atmosphere before being deployed to reduce the speed of the fall and eventually breaking off, but because these pods have no studs or holes or anything, you can't even display them as if they were higher in the atmosphere!
Also it's kinda disappointing that Buck didn't get the shoulder straps painted like Rookie and I assume the rest of Alpha-Nine will.
Regardless of my gripes, I really hope these show up somewhere near me. I already have all of Alpha-Nine, but the names on the chest and blood type shoulders are such nice details that I want.
Yeah that's fair, posing the pods mid-fall with the air brakes popped would be nice.
I miss the opening drop pods! Thes will actually make great diorama props!

Availability for the larger sets is improving for sure. The smaller sets like Heroes, blind bags and these pods are still a problem. However, this set in particular had a really major issue: Rookie's helmet stripe flakes off with a little bit of pressure. I reported the issue to Mega and since then, there has been no news of a release (they originally told us Spring was when these came out). My guess is they pulled the stock to fix Rookie, but I can't be sure
I see a theme that both noble 6 and rookie both came in halo heros 10 and now they both are getting sets of their teams and we already got blue team so

I am curious as to where I can get this, as I've looked online and like I can't really find it, been to a few local stores and I couldn't find any in stores and when it comes to online I can't find any that aren't being price gouged or are just flat out not availiable. I know when it comes to getting Alpha nine, I can get Mickey and Dare from a halo heroes pack, but I dunno where to get Rookie, Dutch, and Romeo for a fair price which also doesn't require store hopping.
Edit: I already have buck as I was able to get my hands on the wombat overwatch.
That's a good question. So far these pods have not released like normal. However, Paulmart's store on Ebay sometimes has the full set of 4 for around $40 which is a very fair price
@@DemarcationMedia alright thanks, I’ll be sure to check it out. I also understand that since Mega isn’t as streamline as say lego I do know that getting mega sets is a bit harder it still doesn’t justify price gouging though in my opinion.

Hm? Not sure what you mean...Mega has done a lot of ODSTs, and some are dark colors

sup my dude, just wanted to give a friendly fyi. When it comes to blood types, its read as either negative or positive. E.g. O Negative or AB Positive. By the by, love the review and recommendation on the possibility of generic ODST squad building. So if I recall correctly, The Rookie's armor is mainly black, just like a regular ODST?
XD Yeah I realized that about the blood types later. And yeah Rookie does wear mainly black, but he does have the white markings in game

This is canceled as of right now. Anywhere that sells it is either $30 for the single pod or $120 for the 4. All of which are scam prices.

Gungoose Gambit, I lost the Mongoose and the Jackal Sniper.
Halo Blind Bag series (#??), I got the Rare Haunted Pilot figure (visor is removed to reveal a skull face).
Halo Heroes Master Chief with Sniper Rifle x2 (I sadly lost both of them)
Halo Heroes Grant (the blue Spartan) (I also lost it)

The only thing I don't like is how green the rookie looks
That's fair, however, Halo 3 ODST does have a greenish tint, so that's why Mega made all the new A9 figures greenish
@@DemarcationMedia Actually man i'm partially color blind and mistook the color. So never mind lol. I saw another picture on the internet with different lighting and it looks accurate to the previous figures.

I kind of wish they would redo alpha 9 and noble team with heads and more details than the falcon sweep or the new sets. Also distribution of this set is non existant in canada which worries me for individual figure distribution because halo heroes has not shown up since series 14 and blind bag's haven't arrived since infinite series 3. I wish someone with contacts at mega would ask them if they plan to send any single figures because it's been forever since anyone sighted individual figure stuff in canada at all the distribution for it is non existant only sets are appearing on shelves which is sad because the distribution of series 14 gave me hope for the next sets of series.
These are barely released. The Hornet and Wombat have both been found in Canada, so these might pop up there too
@@DemarcationMedia but it's been 2 years since we even got halo heroes and blind bags, if we didn't get anything for 3 series why didn't we get any with the new sets? It seems like mega construx has stopped sending individual figures to canada entirely which deeply concerns me for the future, not a single soul has reported finding any and I've also been checking the most well stocked toy stores nonstop. The united states got all 3 series and we didn't get a single one since HH series 14 and infinite blind bag series 3 which seems extremely unfair.
