The same dancers who rise up to the top were born with super healthy strong bodies from genetics and great ambition with their hard work. The majority of students have career ending injuries due to inferior genetic code. Ask professional dancers and they will agree. Even Nureyev had pain and problems with his feet that he suffered for. As a dancer I went upward quickly until my knees failed at 15. Heartbreaking. 7 operations and 2 knee replacements with lifelong pain. Many ballerinas and dancers are naturally stronger and have more perfect bodies. Once a ballerina- always a hard worker and perfectionist! I miss the planet of dance and worship Nureyev and Fonteyn.
It’s a tragedy that he didn’t live long enough to create his own dance school. He was an excellent teacher. If he had done that before he died we would today have the Nureyev Method!

He followed his correct paranoid instincts and saved his life. The punishment his family suffered was his punishment also. He immersed himself in dance which was his joy to keep his mind and heart strong. He won his freedom,escaping possible death and being ripped apart from his family would have ruined an ordinary man.
