Our, Jack, is very smart in some ways like knowing where to roam on our 8 acres, going for rides but not when chasing rabbits or squirrels. He'll wait until they run away before he will start to chase them. Of course, it's too late and he won't catch any. Jack is an appropriate name for him. i. e. Jumping Jack, Jack be Quick, Hi Jack
Once, when the UPS driver came and Jack was outside, I couldn't find him. The driver started laughing loudly. There was Jack sitting in the driver's seat with front paws on the steering wheel. All set for a ride! The driver gave him a treat and told him to go to the house. Jack took the treat and ran to the house and sat on the deck to eat his treat. All the delivery drivers know Jack and bring him treats. He is loved by all. We are very fortunate to have him. He's going on 3 years old.

NO ONE IS ALLOWED NEAR US!!! OR THE CAR. Doesn't like strangers, but warms up to people who visit regularly. Stubborn and extremely intelligent. Is very involved in every move we make in the house. Likes to be included in everything. Howls if we go out without him. Expects supper on time. Is so happy when I come home. Waits for me at the window. Knows when its time for me to arrive. Tries to talk people talk, but it comes out as a soft growl. So funny. Personality galore!!!! Extreme love both ways.

Just lost our Scotty boy last month on the 9th. He was 14 years 4 months old. We got him when he was 10. Never thought I would fall so hard for a dog. He was my best buddy and I miss him so much. I’m getting tears in my eyes just trying to type this. I know I’ll get over him someday, but for now it hurts really bad. Rest In Peace my Scotty boy. I’ll alway love you and the times we spent together. I know you’re in a better place with no pain.

Same problem happened to me February 15 of this year. We rescued our old man mister nubs in 2019 when he was 11. I never wanted an old dog but I fell head over hills for him and we became best friends. He got dementia, had a heart murmur, rotten teeth and arthritis. His previous owners didn't take care of him to well and gave him up so me and my wife adopted him. Finally had to put him down 2 months ago and it broke my heart. I miss him so much and have his ashes over my bed. I don't think I'll ever get over the loss

I too lost my little man, in July of 2022. He looked exactly like the b & s one at the beginning of this video. He too was supposedly “fine” til his back legs got weak & I took him to the Vet. He only said he was going to die, his kidneys were going bad, & to keep him comfortable. I asked WHY this wasn’t discovered 2 mths earlier when they examined him. They didn’t really provide an answer, & he died about 2 weeks later. A part of me died too, I almost went crazy. We were together for 13 years, he was the absolute SMARTEST dog I’d ever had, & I’ve had a lot(mostly boxers). My boys name was Sirius, & not 1 day passes without me thinking about him & how he was such a wonderful gift from Jesus! He was black & silver. I had a very nice gravestone made for him, I look at it every day, I love him & always will, & I know he’s sitting at the rainbow bridge in Heaven waiting for me. I thank Jesus EVERY day for him, & am at peace knowing he’s back in His care.

We had our sweet Mandy for 16 years and four months. We were RVers for much of her life and she was the best traveling companion. She loved everyone and even though she preferred people to other dogs, she was never aggressive with other animals. She truly was our life and since we lost her in August we have been adjusting to life without her. I'd love another but we are in our 70's now and I don't want to be less than another dog deserves. She loved to eat and we kept her on a balanced diet. She did have teeth issues (and lost most of them before she was 15). She had issues with pancreatitis and had a heart murmur from birth. She was a beautiful salt and pepper and she had the longest, most beautiful eyelashes our vet and groomer had ever seen.

With all those health issues, she lived a long life. 16 years is a long time with a companion and when she was gone, it obviously changed your life. I know it did for me. My Hans at fifteen and a half was part of me. I feel like part of me is now missing. Schnauzers are one of the best dogs in the world. Best decision I ever made was getting my first schnauzer.

So sorry for your loss, Mandy sounds like she was a fantastic dog. I lost my boy Rocky in July, 8 weeks before his 15th birthday, he was the sweetest, gentlest dog, I have a girl who will be 14 in May & she's doing ok & we just got a puppy, Bandit, who makes me remember taking care of a puppy wasn't this much work when I was 52, -(now 64) . I love the breed, probably will be the last one for me.

I had the most loving, caring, loyal, companion Minature Snauzer Precious. She became my service dog. I bought her as a puppy. She was black and grey. She was my companion in my life journey. She went everywhere with me. I took her to the Vets for her annual shots. I was told cancer euthanize her. I cried paid the Vet a enormous fee without any test . Took my precious crying with me. I searched for another vet. This vet did numerous test . Said Precious needed amputation of right leg Cancer. Did more test to see if she could survive surgery. 12/29 Precious and I went early for her surgery. It was so difficult no support whatsoever. Just Precious and I … I walked in the room with her with her blanket. I told her I loved her. She was good and everyone loved her. She was a loving Minature Snauzer. I cried and told her she never bit or was mean to anyone . I told her I loved her and needed her. To fight hard don’t give up. The Veterinarian came in and she was taking her to surgery. I cried, kisses, loving her. Praying she would make it. 🙏 😢🙏.
The next day they called me to tell me to pick her up. I was so happy. I had spoken to the Veterinarian previously. She told me she had never seen a pet and owner so close and together as Precious and I . We were 1 always❤. She gave me instructions. Told me that she removed Precious lymph nodes , she did well and gave me a appointment. I happily took my Precious in My Arms in Her Blanket. Kissing, her , smiling and the happiest person in the world. She came home with all meds needed . I put safely to sleep❤. She never cried. She woke up the next day and walked down the stairs without 1 front leg. She walked down from 2 nd floor as if nothing and in my privacy fence in Back Yard . Thereafter, she came inside and walked upstairs as if nothing. My Doctor and everyone loved Precious. She said Precious was a better patient than some people. ❤😊. Okay , Precious recuperated well and 3 legs did not stop her from anything. Just jumping up on the bed high.
9/21 Precious started throwing up white vile. I called for an appointment. She stopped throwing up vile. But I wanted her checked. We were going to appointment my car hit a pot hole omg😡🤬. The tire blew. Thank God There was a Firestorm Tire and Garage . The manager told worker to change tire to donut. That is all I had . I was late for appointment. I was Blessed by God With This Kind Manager N/C knowing I had vet appointment. We arrived late veterinarian saw her sent records with tech and to take her to animal hospital. We were there all night. They wanted me to leave her and they would call me. No ! I stayed with my Precious. Finally at about 4:00 am hearing 2 dogs were getting euthanized. 😢. I woman with her loving dog told the crying family. Do not let them euthanize her. The dog came out happy and looked well. Breathing well 2 years old. They took their pup happily and left. They said Precious needed X Rays In stomach. Vet was given all her records from Veterinarian given to me before we left. They were not a all night hospital. Veterinarian preformed X-Ray. Did not have a radiologist review them. Was not sure what she saw inside Precious stomach. Looks like tumors not sure .Euthanize her Cancer. I cried said no and paid her $600.00. No blood work or fee consult with veterinarian oncologist. I would not let them kill my Precious. 24 hrs had passed we drove home. I was crying. But I had my Precious. I stopped at McDonald’s It was breakfast time. I bought her a double cheeseburger and fries . She devoted everything so quickly and never threw up or got sick. I was given meds for Precious.to. Give to her. I felt we all had our time to die. If she complained I would take her to the Veterinarian. I would take care of her 24/7 , give her meds, do everything for my loving Precious. On, 10/ 9 / 22 my Precious was crying and I gave her meds . I knew she
was in pain yet she was fighting and holding on for me. I told her that it was okay for her to go💔 . That daddy Doug was waiting to see her again . His Bebe who loved him since he entered our lives only to. Be killed by a distracted driver going to work. Again it was Precious and I in my life journey.
She perked up her left ear and listened to me as I assured her it was time. Time to meet my Baby Laura 2 months old . That Laura was waiting to meet her and play with her and Doug.
She took her last 2 breath’s in my arms. It is the most difficult thing in life to do. But I loved her so much I would not euthanize her. She gave me unconditional love. Our Heavenly Father would take her when it was his time not anyone else . I am broken, shattered , 💯 alone and hurting. I miss my Precious. 💔💔💯🍔🐾🐕‍🦺🦴. 😭😭😩😩🤢🤕🤕😨😰😭♥️♥️🐕‍🦺🐾❤️💔💔🐾
10/8/22 She died in my arms.
THE Greatest Gift Of LOVE ❤️ . I could ever give or do for her. No matter how I was suffering and dying inside. She was taken to the A Great Veterinarian Hospital To Have Her Remains Cremated With love & Dignity.,,
So Beautifully Done In An Urn , With a Sympathy Card & 2 small cards with beautiful sayings .
I just wish they had different urns and I could of had her name and message from me engraved on it. ♥️🌹🐾🐕‍🦺💯😭🐾😭😩🐕‍🦺💔💔🐾🌹♥️

I give him LOTS OF TIME, even though I have a serious back injury. As long as you are loving, consistent,firm-but gentle, your schnauzer will be the greatest dog you've ever met. My mini schnauzer is turning 3 years this fall. I love this breed! She is the perfect companion. If i feel super active, she's always ready to come with me, but if I just feel like sitting in the couch all day, she's up for that as well. She is like a cat, meaning that she cleans herself regularly.. all of her feet and nails are always washed clean, three times a day at least. She barks at every threat.. the problem is that she thinks that everything is a threat lol.
But we can leave her alone in the house as well.. i don't quite agree with the first point. If we have to go somewhere or everybody is working, she is chilaxing in her own place in quiet.. but it's maybe just that we got lucky with ours.
I bring her the a groomer who prepares schnauzers for dog shows, because there are a lot of ugly haircuts, I want my little one looking like an illustration in the books.. I so freaking adore her beard!
One thing is for certain: me and my wife will always have a miniature schnuazer in our home!

Yes I agree with the information provided. They have so so much energy and want to play ALL Day! But love to nap in between night bedtime. Very curious but loveable and much of aware of the owners' behaviors. If you are gone for a while they are so happy to see You and will follow you all through the house. Walks is one of their favorite pastimes. Will bark at outside activity before they reach your home and of the mail carrier. Can be aggressive around other dogs so mine is very alert and protective. Yes, they love to EAT!! Watch their food intake. Grooming is a must... I love my Bleu🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰

Yes. I was blessed to have her for 10 years. She was the most sweetest loving dog I've ever owned. She was the most intelligent. She even taught herself by observing my movements. She never calls any problems as far as puppy habits chewing furniture, shoes, dragging out items, never that I have that issue with her. She was a Watch Dog. And would alarm me if anybody or anything was near that didn't belong there. She had a very loud voice. LOL but Unstoppable barking I didn't have that issue. She was the perfect little sidekick! It was as i f we had a good communication! She was obedient. And a very fast learner. I had no trouble potty training her soon 6 weeks, is when she came to live with me. She was a pleaser! They'll never be another dog like my little teasy. Even though I was to get another dog at the same breed! I miss and Grave for her so much! I would highly suggest a companion schnauzer!

On our 4th miniature schnauzer, last one passed away a couple of weeks ago, I was a broken man, raised him from 7 week old. Every one had a different personality, but each was very affectionate. First one was very popular with the kids, he was kinda scrappy looking but very happy to be around anyone. Second one was very smart and a big for a mini, 24 to 25 pounds, bu the was a salt a pepper from a champion breeder, and was absolutely show dog material, but he was a family pet, not a show dog. My 3rd dog was a daddy's boy, and he was not friendly with most people, except the family. He was my stress dog, bet he was always with me no one else so he was really my dog and so loosing him has been very difficult. I decided to get another one this time a girl, and she is 9 weeks old, she is very sweet and energetic. I has helped me cope with losing last one that I still miss but I can put my energy into a new personality. Everyone is correct they are very attached to families and don't like to left alone for long, they are also stubborn, but very intelligent. Make sure to have your new pup socialize with other animals and get some training to help out. Once this happens it is easier to take them everywhere. Lifetime Mini fan.

Our Maggie is 10 months. We haven't had a dog for over 25 years. As a long haul trucker team, we didn't want a dog that sheds. We never considered a mini schnauzer, We always had larger dogs. But met another driver but who raised mini-schauzers. After doing our research on the breed and finding they don't shed much if any, we decided to adopt one of her pups. We picked up our salt and pepper girl when she was 7 weeks. She is such a sweet little lady. Easy to train.and easier to love. She is a perfect travel companion. My husband wasn't excited about getting any dog but he loves her now. She isn't a yapper which is great. So glad we found this little lady. When we retire in 3 years, we are thinking of getting her a playmate. We could see ourselves with another mini-schnauzer.

Miniature Schnauzers are THE breed for me. They are wonderful dogs, and I get so upset with people who criticize their specific traits. Like every dog breed, they are more suitable to certain people. Everything said in this video is so true. 1. Give them lots of love and attention, 2. a great diet, 3. Lots of toys to play with and excercise, 4. Yes, regular vet visits, and 5. Keep them clean, brushed and have regular trips to the groomer. They are handsome, distinguished looking little dogs. Honor their breed by taking good care of them. What you'll have is a loyal, loving, healthy, playful, best friend for life. They require a lot of care but you'll be so rewarded in return.
I just laid to rest my beautiful boy, Arty (born: 2/2/2007 - Ran for the Rainbows - 11/15/2022).

I have had 2 miniature schnauzers….one a 1 yr. old rescue who lived to be 15 yrs old. She was always very healthy and sweet. We had to put her down at 15 due to cancer. Our other schnauzer is now 3 1/2. Full of energy and very prey driven. We have a fenced in back yard and before I could stop her, she has killed 2 rabbits and one squirrel…🙄. She recently kept getting bladder infection over and over….she was treated with several different antibiotics and nothing seemed to help (we noticed she started having pee accidents in the house and she is 100% housebroken)….our vet did an X-ray and her bladder was full of marble-sized stones….we immediately had surgery (costing $3000.00) and the vet counted 14 stones plus what the vet called “gravel” (very fine stones not yet developed). she is now on veterinarian prescription dog food so this can be prevented.
On the big plus side both schnauzers were super easy to house break….just consistency taking them out….within 3 weeks, they would ask to go out to do their business….EXTREMELY smart…very loving and attach themselves to their owners….not very good with strangers until they get used to them…but would have another in a heartbeat!

My 2nd mini Schnauzer is a perfect Angel. He's a liver pepper. My 1st was a black and silver. He's the reason why we will always have one. He had to have an emergency bladder surgery. 36 bladder stones were removed. Horrible! Then when he was about 12/1/2 he became diabetic. We tried to get that under control , but it eventually took it's toll. What a nightmare. My poor little guy was a warrior through it all. I've had many different dogs over the years.Love them all.My little angel now has the disposition, personality and intelligence of a Golden retriever.Perfect!

I have a 5yr old schnauzer, Jack that was re-homed to us. He was 2 when we got him. At first he was homesick from his first owner and didn't eat or do much for a week or so. I was really worried but the vet said he'd be ok, to keep giving him lots of love and attention. That's exactly what he got, and now he rules the house! I take care of my mom who is elderly and he just adores her. He follows her everywhere and makes sure she's ok. He does the same thing with our grand-daughter's. He's the best dog my husband and I have ever had. My whole family loves him! Very thankful that we were the one's they chose to have him!

I have a 3yrold Miniature Schnauer named Tucker (and don't ask him where his Mother is) it just doesn't sound right. Man, this dog just loves the water. He loves to Bite Water. Whether its in the birdbath, or the sprinklers, or jumping in the pool. And in the morning when I go to take my shower, he's already in the bathtub waiting for me. First time I pulled the curtains back and saw him sitting there, scared the beegeebies out of me.Now I put him out on the back patio and run like hell to the bathroom. Most times he streams right on past me. That's when I ask him "where's your Mother Tucker" Hmm? Maybe he's not a Schnauzer, maybe he's a FISH!!

I have a black and silver boy. The most loyal dog I have ever had. He is super smart but stubborn indeed. He is a joy to snuggle, cuddle and sleep with. He is a bottomless pit so yes we have to feed and wash his bowl and put it up.
He has a TON of food allergies and has been tested. We have to be careful what he eats.
He thinks he’s a Great Dane and will throw down if he feels necessary to protect his humans. Always happy and loyal. He is also obsessed with toys and plays with every one of them. He loves to bring it to you and play fetch. He loves playing tag too. Always on the go.

Our Miniature Schnauzer is coming up to a year old. She loves attention and chews things if left alone. She does warp speed zoomies when excited, and is way faster than I expected for a dog that size. To be fair, I thought she had shortish legs, but after her first full groom she looked a lot more athletic than I expected. She needs combing every day to stay on top of it. We let it get away from us the first time, and once she got matted it was too late, and the groomer had to shave her all over. She loves the comb going through her hair, so it is an easy task, but she tries to bite and eat the comb's wooden handle if she sees it. I keep the hair out of her eyes so she is used to being groomed, and the groomer remarked how good she was. She has never bitten, but does gently mouth if she does not like what you are doing to her. Lastly, we got her at the same time as two kittens and they have grown as the closest of friends. Having the cats as role models has led to some cat like behaviours like this standing start leap. facebook.com/trevor.dennis.12/videos/810956566951504

The information is applicable to many breeds, and not specific to Mini Schnauzers! It wasn't mentioned that I heard, anyway, that for grooming you can choose the standard breed cut or keep the fur more natural. Don't let anyone make you feel that it needs to be a certain way. Even though I happen to like the more natural look, the longer fur comes more brushing! And regular vet visits are so important! A tip to go along with knowing how much your dog eats (& drinks & poops!) per day, is don't wait until your dog is not feeling well to do bloodwork. If your vet has baseline blood work showing your dog's normal levels when healthy & feeling good, it can help get a quicker diagnosis when/if illness crops up. ❣️

I decided I wanted the dog. So I'll made a visit to the library and familiarized myself what some qualifications for a pet Schnauzer fell into that wasn't long after I was able to find my little darling she was the sweetest most generous loving pleasing dog I have ever had she was 8 weeks when I got her. And never cried not once. However she didn't have much of an appetite. And continued that way the remainder of her life. She was very sensitive to shampoos. So I kept her on a oatmeal that work just fine after 10 years she's no longer with me. Which I grieve over my little sidekick. For me there is no other perfect pet but the schnauzer! Highly intelligent good Watchdog but not a constant Barker however a very loud voice. LOL she loved on the cats and enjoyed my company. In fact I think she thought that came over to play with her and keep her company and not me. LOL I believe she thought she was a human. I would highly recommend a Schnauzer for a pet please be gentle and don't mistreat your little pet.

My partner and I love our little black Schnauzer. We have a large garden in the UK and we work from home and so she is with us 24/7 so she is never on her own. When we go shopping so many people stop and say how beautifully cute she is and she laps up the attention. We watch her diet and her weight is kept to average 10kg. My partner takes her for a 2 hour walk every morning and she has a half hour mad play with me every evening after she has had her evening meal by which time she is ready to snuggle up to us to watch TV. When we go to bed she comes with us and sleeps at the bottom of the bed. Whenever she goes outside we quickly clean her feet or after her walk we put her in the bath to rinse her paws clean and she doesn't mind that. Her personality is loving and affectionate and I have never owned a dog before but my partner has but I would never have any other breed. Unbelievable like another little person.

Ours is mixed with poodle. When we brush him he is resistant at first. He loves to try and grab the brush out of my hand. Some days he is all mouth. Has several toys and knows each one by name so he will bring me each one separately. He is smart, alert, loving, protective and loves to trick us out of treats. At the vets suggestion we are now substituting cut green beans to help keep his weight down. He is a bright spot in my life!

I have had 3 Schnauzers. I do not agree with some of these comments. I have never had one of them be destructive. I have provided plenty of toys since puppyhood, but if I did need to go away for possibly 6-8 hours, I would gate them in my kitchen when younger, and yes have someone check on and let them potty. I think if properly introduced they get along fine with other pets. I prefer a male to a female. They tend to be more laid back and less sparky. All in all a wonderful breed, excellent with kids.

He's super-confident, likes people, adores other dogs of all sizes, catches moles and shrew, and doesn't care if he's left alone. He also doesn't play with toys much. We had a mini salt and pepper. He was brilliant! I miss him so much. He pretty much trained himself to alert my family when I had a seizure. He would go to my room, check me, and then would go back to my family and bark. And do it again and again until they realized what he meant. I’m trying to save enough to get another one. I have friends that have donated to my GoFundMe, which has helped some. I hope we can do it within a year since the seizures have gotten more frequent, but my point is though people don’t normally think of them as service dogs, they make great ones! If you need one for seizures or even anxiety, or to get something off the floor, they are so intelligent and trainable they really do help in those situations.

Thank you for that video and knowledge. I have had a few miniature schnauzers, and they are so precious all the way around. When they get to spend a lot of time with their owner and they are groomed regularly. They are smart and so attentive to the human with clear boundaries and countless positive challenges. Their respect and safety with good clear love and patience from the owner (leader of the pack) and their family they will become pack protecters. They are so absolutely loyal and loving. The commitment and follow through with your Schnauzer will assure her being your best most attentive, and unconditional loving friend ever. I do believe God's in charge, so I refuse to worship my pets. instead, i understand that they are a gift for a short stay, and I am allowed the privilege to raise his dogs and am forever touched by his ability to love us unconditionally through all his pupppy and dog 🐕 lovers. Our first two schnauzers developed diabetes. Both lived to almost 15 years. We realize it was the diet they had been on. When we got our first schnauzer 20 years ago we didn’t know much about dog food. However I started researching when internet came along and learned. Unfortunately not from a vet. We also had a pet supply franchise and I was able to study ingredient labels. We changed foods for our dogs, and also gave them homemade meals. None of the others developed diabetes, and two of those schnauzers were puppies from the first two. Many dry foods contain corn and even wheat. Lots of carbohydrates are dangerous for our pets. Veggies are healthier.

    • @arnieadam
      @arnieadam ปีที่แล้ว

@@judychartrand6599 Yes, once he took sick, I started to cook all his meals after that. A commitment, but we will do a lot for love. Shockingly, when he was first diagnosed, I had to push the vet to get the diagnosis. As an EMT, I recognized the symptoms. Their advice was control through diet or just do nothing and let them die. They leaned towards the second. I found a different vet and we started insulin twice a day and home-cooked food. He lived another 8 years.
