    My wife found this at a garage sale about 15 years ago. It was in the box so she took a chance and bought it for me. Turned out that every piece was there, nothing broken or missing. Even the sticker. No instructions but did have the catalog. Best $35 she ever spent. ❤️ her.

    When I was in the fourth grade, I took my birthday money to a discount store in Virginia Beach. While sorting through the mostly old and useless toys, I found an unopened and original Star Wars: Empire Strikes Back Dagobah playset. I bought it for $6. Seriously. Although I was a kid (and Star Wars came out before I was born), I knew it was a tremendous find. I even felt guilty when I bought it. I wasn't "collecting" toys. Rather, I opened it up when I got home and immediately enjoyed my find. I can't remember the name of that store, but it had some amazing "where did you get this" items that would sometimes find their ways on the shelves.

    I got this set Christmas morning, and had sooo many hours of enjoyment from it. A few years later (~ 1986), I sold the complete set (box, instructions and all) to my cousin for $20. 😭 No idea where it is today. I so wish I had it back.

      @thepadawancollectorofficial  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hey Fever! At least you have the memory of playing with it as a kid. I was talking to a friend and we were like, “if our whole collection had to be sold, or went away, at least they can’t take away the feeling or the memories that we made from that era”

    had that playset, made everything out of it with my mom's help. she bought me little fake trees and brush and we made into a whole forest moon of endor display. had that thing for a great many years. she had one of her own brand new sealed in the box, she ended up selling it for around $400.00
    i built this sucker within minutes when i had to put it all back together again when i still had it and i even got the robin hood one and made it into another part of the village. i miss having that playset. but, even if i wanted it again. just no room for it.

    Some perspective from a kid who had this in 1983... it wasn't hard to put together.... we had to assemble ALL our toys back then... it wasn't a big deal to put together... that was the best part!

    This was the last SW playset I got as a kid. The Ewoks didn't have it very long as the GI Joe's ultimately rolled in and took it from them to use as a secret base. Lol. I finally found one last month complete in the box with inserts. The only thing missing were the instructions which I bought at a decent price...and the Ewoks have since returned and are now living in peace.

    Toy companies have always been good at stretching their resources to get the most out of what they already have. And often I'll applaud the efforts because they do work. Kenner did a pretty good job honestly seeing the items from your video.
    As a consumer now, I'm not as big a fan of modern companies (cough, Hasbro, cough) with all the repaints, repackages, & reuse. But from a business standpoint, it's difficult to fault them for being innovative. And if we're being honest, they wouldn't continue to do it if people wouldn't continue to buy the product.
    All that aside...the Ewok Village!!!!! RotJ was my bread & butter age too. And nothing was a better backdrop or more versatile than this awesome beast. It's no wonder they made so many Ewoks. This thing was awesome.
    I have a SW version of this as well as the Robin Hood version (both loose but complete) but have been quietly on the hunt for a great looking box to go with my loose villages. They pop up from time to time & your price info was right on target.
    The box you got with yours was in pretty nice shape Joey. I'm happy that they cut you a deal & that you didn't have to worry about having that shipped to you either. I'm sure that Iain's (GW) will have an acrylic for this sometime soon too. It's just a matter of time.
    Another fantastic & informative Playset episode my friend. Can't wait for your next installment.
    Side note, I know you're pushing community support to your Patreon, but I couldn't help but notice your video had the old YT "Join Button" message (with your collector supplies segment) Think this might come back or is Patreon the better way to go? Just curious what's most beneficial to the channel. Thanks again for all you do!

    • @thepadawancollectorofficial
      @thepadawancollectorofficial  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey Mopar! Yes kennner was definitely innovative, and yes from a business perspective, they were probably pressured from logistical and budget needs to get these out fast! And yes, I am only focusing on Patreon right now, so please go there if you’d like to consider supporting the channel. I may offer TH-cam memberships in the future, but. I most likely will not as of now. Thanks my friend!

    Kenner also made a tree house playset that had a little family living in it😂 looked like a umbrella shape, they reused it for the cartoon Ewoks too. This was my second "most wanted" piece when I got back into collecting last year. I picked up two of them - neither complete - in the last few months. Still need to get strings for the net and one of the Y stands for the spit. It is indeed frustrating with all the little parts and old plastic. We're making do over here though, and we'll get those parts in time. I think a Robin Hood version could be added to turn my two villages into an Ewok City! Good find on your part though. Keep up the good work.

      Thanks John! Yea they are pricey if you just consider the case itself, but I see it as an investment in displaying my collection in a way that elevates them and protects them at the same time. I wish they were less expensive for sure and if I could make my own with the same quality, brother I would be all over it! Thanks for watching my friend and taking the time to comment!

      Hey Bart! Yes it’s available for download. The Playset checklist is included. I could have separated them out and charged more, but that’s not cool.

      @@thepadawancollectorofficial I restored it a few years ago. The pieces for the spit were not easy to find. I had to insert a small screw to keep one in place.

    Now Hasbro only puts out overpriced diagrams pieces.kenner playsets had lots of play value,action features and can be used for displays.The smell of those plastic goodies fresh out of the box was AWSOME!
