One of the best teachers I know. Thanks as always, McCool. Your knowledge, style, and curiosity are invaluable. Keep up the great work!
Man its a shame that a creator like you isn’t getting much attention you deserve a million subs. Never stop educating us. ❤
Downloaded! I can't believe how easy you make SUPER complex things! Shared with others as well!
Matt's DaVinci Resolve knowledge continues to amaze me. Great job, thank you!
Amazing Matt! Looking forward to more!! Purchased and USING!!!
Thank you!
I really appreciate not just great work and clarity to explain the process, but also your expertise with the software as well as videography in general.
Glad it was helpful ☺️
Absolutely top tier content! Keep up the good work Matt! 🔥
Thanks, Bart! 😊
Wow!!! This is AMAZING! Thank you Matt!!
Awesome tutorial! Looking forward to more.
So helpful! Planning to use this 🎉
Nice🎉 Thank you
I absolutely love this. I’m so amazed and excited to use this. Thank you for making this guide.. my caveman brain gets overwhelmed easily and you explained it so well that I didn’t feel lost at any point
Thanks man! Happy to help 🤠
Many thanks for creating this. Going to enjoy figuring this out for my film photography. I wish you well
Film photography FTW! Yeah, a lot of the photos in this video were captured with the Nikon FM2 on Portra 400.
Thank you for your support, Dave!
@@MattMcCool0 500 c/m here with Gold or FP4+ 120 ;-) wishing you well.
HI Matt thanks for this great photo roll its what I have been looking for. I love in Madagascar and have a problem trying to pay for it. Because I have no way of sending money.
I just bought it... thats very nice... I would also love, if there would be exactly the same plugin for video because for years I would like to make a video, that showcases how my adhd-brain works and i recognized during your video, at 12:58 where you got all these images in that region... imagine having hundreds of random videos playing at the same time in a constantly moving region like that... similar to an anthill is how it looks like 24/7 in my brain... of course it would also be possible to make that with photos but since photos are still, it doesn't fit to that constant moving chaos that much, than actual videos would do. but its already very nice for my photography videos and maybe for an intro (yes, i still do intros because i like them) 🙂
THIS!
10/10!
Thanks for your support!
Great tutorial! Please make more.
Thanks for your support, Denis! Will do.
I purchased the template to support your efforts. It would be great if there was an option to add a frame. I’ve figured out how to do it but it would be a nice option. One question for you: in the last part of the video, you explain how you made the template. Does this mean that I should be able to replicate all the effects that you show in this section from the template’s controls? Thanks.
@@denisdion6847 it's not possible to add a frame directly inside DaVinci Resolve, but you can add a frame in your folder where the image sequence lives and re-browse for it in the inspector.
I'm unsure what you mean by your second question. Which effect are you referring to? I'm just showing you how I made the template. The template has tons of flexibility. Everything you see here was made using the controls built into the template: th-cam.com/users/shortsGXrfGzuyxIc?si=-Rk3jXbC-YmzuASB
@@MattMcCool0 Matt, I meant that it would be nice to be able to add a border around a photo to make it look like a printed photo. I was able to do that by adding the ColoredBorder effect and a Letterbox node in between the Loader node and the Border node in your original template. However, I am not good enough in Fusion to add the interface for the ColoredBorder effect in your existing controls. What I did works well with horizontal photos but not so much for vertical ones even if I set the Letterbox node to Pan and Scan. I'd be happy to upload you a short demo and the modified setting if you give me an email address or send me an upload link. As for my question on whether the last part of your video where you show the cube function, I was simply asking because it produced a neat effect "from far out" that I wasn't sure that you could produce with the template. Thanks for clarifying.
@@denisdion6847 ah, I see. Sorry for the confusion. Sure, I'll send a message to you on Kofi.
I've added a frame setting in the lighting tab. Just increase the border width and it'll create a border that fits perfectly on every photo, regardless of aspect ratio. The default produces a white border, but you can decrease the brightness all the way to black, or somewhere in between for a transparent look.
And no, the template organizes the photos in a roll so it's already past the state of the cube effect due to the pCustom node. But maybe an idea for a future template similar to this one 🤔
Matt this is sick! You mentioned questions / suggestions - is there a way to, for example, put a white border around these photos the way you did in the previous version?
Yep! Since recording this video, I've added border controls under the last tab. You can now increase or decrease the brightness and thickness of the border. Thanks for downloading! 🤠
❤️
I have a question.
Is it possible to have the particles set up in a way that it would create some sort of an alley with images beign the left and right walls?
I never really worked with the particles system. So maybe it's not possible to have the go in a straight line?
Thanks for this! Exactly what I was looking for, have purchased and begun to use. I have a question though, I have A LOT of photos, it’s for a feature film end credit sequence so there’s like 250 bts photos. I obviously can’t play it back very smooth to see the full thing but when I rendered, it seems I only have about 1/8th of the amount of photos. Is there a limit? Or do I need to change some settings? Thanks in advance
Thanks! I will send you a message.
I love this plugin, I'm using it now but I have a question, some of my photo's orientation is not set right. Is there a way to fix that/
@@onavisionmedia you'll need to fix it in your file browser outside of Resolve then reload the image sequence 👍
Love all the videos, bravo!!! I do have a quick question. I get purple bars on my video tracks and dark blue bars on my audio tracks, what is that? I can provide a screen shot if you like.
The purple lines sound like proxy indicators. It means Resolve can't locate the camera originals.
Not sure about dark blue bars on audio 🤔
Thank you, I just never noticed that before.
I am new to Davinci Resolve; how do you install the Photo Roll FX after downloading it?
Just double click the drfx file and Resolve will ask to install.
I bought your photo roll and now I am trying to figure out how to add a photo background, can you please give advice?
Thanks for the download! You can disable the "Background" checkbox under the last menu. Then you can add whatever you'd like underneath the photo roll element on your timeline.
Will this template work with the free version of Davinci?
Yep!
Can these templates be used for videos? I am looking for a template to use for creating a video clip with an online choir
This template only works with still images. But you can create the same effect with videos like this ➡️ th-cam.com/video/SgbwF09IoYg/w-d-xo.htmlsi=629r1xodkhg1yu3G
@@MattMcCool0 Thanks!
Can't find how to get separation between the photos. They are stacked. Any ideas?
Thanks for downloading! Under the layout section, reduce the size until the photos have your desired space between, then pull forward using the Z offset to compensate.
@@MattMcCool0 Thank you so much for your quick answer.
matt, can png files be used instead of jpegs?
Yep! As long as the filenames are sequential.
@@MattMcCool0 thx, off to get it now, this is cool
@@jimgiraffe5253 thanks 🙌 enjoy!
niestety, tylko jedno zdjęcie pokazuje, reszty nie ma, zmarnowana kasa
@@boczek7633 that would only happen if your photos are not an image sequence.
