We spend about 8 or 9 months a year in our class A, five of which are in Arizona. When traveling we use a free app called RVParky, which sounds a lot like the one you're using with campgrounds, Wal Marts, Cracker Barrels, rest areas and anywhere you could possibly imagine overnighting. There are reviews and directions included. We have found some really nice rest areas. I usually try to find ones that have separate areas for rvs and semi trucks. I also try to find ones where you can park along a curb and don't have to have someone on either side of you. There are more of those than you might think.
Ya might need to get some ear muffs to sleep in hahaha, id sleep in a rest area, Truck Stop in a heart beat drove a Truck O/O many years I hear them breaks ya go to sleep like a baby 😂. Now a refer is another story, what you do is get parked in between 2 Dry Van's before sun goes down. I miss parking at truck stops same with my Chihuahua Hershey.
The noise you hear is the Air Dryer of the trucks air brake system it blows the condenasion out of the air brakes system. You do not want water in air lines freezing blocking the air lines. No air no brakes. Retired Truck Driver here.
I stay in rest areas occasionally and don't mind the sound. They are safe due to the presence of others. My preference is casino lots or state welcome centers for quick overnighters en route to your destination.
You could have taken U.S. Hwy 93 south from Twin Falls. Lots of Washington, Montana, Idaho, and Canadian snowbirds take it to get to Arizona. There are long empty stretches but it is not the "Loneliest Highway". That is U. S. Hwy 50 that goes east to west across central Nevada, from Ely to Carson City. The free dump station was built with a State Parks and Rec grant. Glad to know you appreciated it!
My argument against that is a lot of us don't have money or time to know the spots where to go and tike to "explore"! Most of us are surviving on a budget and are lucky to make it "out there" in the first place. I understand the other side of that argument as well, as we don't want public lands trashed or over run. IMO, there are enough books and other app like resources to find places to go.
Glad to hear nothing cracked after the freeze. The truck noise is from the air tank for the air brakes. The compressor runs and fills up the tank then it allows the excess to vent. You get used to it after a while when you have to live in the truck. Glad to see you and the boys heading south. Let warmer weather prevail! Travel safe and stay warm. Happy Thanksgiving! Hopefully you will be off the road before the holiday travelers get out there.
Your right about Exploring. Love finding a little hidyhole. Safe travels. May the good Lord watch over you and your family and friends. Peace and Love 😊.
I love watching your mistakes and seeing that you at least admit to them. Like saying your water was froze up but you neglected to tell us that you didn't plug them in until it was becoming daylight if I heard that right. Well of course they were frozen they were already Frozen when you plug them in. But just little things like that I've seen you do that is kind of comical even though I know it wasn't comical at the time it's very serious when you think something's about to break or something has broke and it's going to be expensive to fix but it's always nice when you know that it had a good outcome. Thank you for your great videos, mistakes and all.
Yep, I live in a single wide mobile home and have heat tape on the cold intake. My park . management requires it and I run it all the time except summer because spring and fall can drop below freezing. He should be running that heat pad 24/7.
You CAN park on the car side at Love's i Sold my Freightliner and went to hauling campers you can park along the curb try to find a spot farther from the pumps if that store isn't made with room can park along the curb across from the pumps i always left before getting morning traffic so it won't be crowded.
Making my way to Quartzite. Currently in Berea Kentucky on my way from Ohio. Im excited, yet nervous lol. We shall see how it is for me. If I dont like it as much as I thought, i can go back in January if need be.
Have you ever considered installing a DC to DC charger. It hooks up to the truck battery and will charge your trailer house batteries at a higher rate.
I’ve stopped at rest areas several times while traveling to catch a few hours sleep with my seat back. It’s convenient to have a restroom so close when you wake. I’m not sure I would want to crawl into the back of my 4Runner and stay an entire night. I wasn’t even sure they allowed large rigs to spend the night.
I always chuckle when you talk about the pressure releasing from the tanks because it reminds me what it's like when you're NOT accustomed to it. LOL I got so used to it that I could lay my head on the steering wheel and take a nap while parked in the middle of 32 idling trucks...with my windows open. The rumbling of those big diesel engines was like a lullaby to me, and the valves opening didn't even register in my mind anymore. LOL! What was the wind speed/direction the night the water froze vs. the night it didn't freeze?
Wow! That driver in the car that almost caused an accident, must have been really tired. That's something I've noticed about rest stops, especially at night & early mornings. Drivers are often exhausted! delirious! & probably have to 'wee' so bad they can't think straight. It can be dangerous. I've slept in truck stops before. Being in a car though, I parked close to the restaurant area to be out of the way of big rigs. Safe & Happy Travels out there. I'm hoping by now, You guys are off the busy holiday roads enjoying wherever You are. ManyBlessings!💜
I drove over the road in a Sprinter Van, Truck stops are a good place to park for the night even with a trailer, just don't get out a grill and chairs with you're awning out. They don't always have the room. Many truck stops will have RV/truck parking spots. Some people will park there in their or large box truck just to run in and get a drink and some will just park and sleep there for the night they don't seem to care. Just don't park right in front of store.
The trucks have to follow a strict time schedule along with federal mandated sleep times. So always make sure you are curious and do not fill trucks parking areas with rvs. Remember, trucks bring your groceries and other products that you can not live without, unless your totally off grid living off the land. Be nice to truck drivers, yeah I know there are a s s holes in the trucking industry, but most are nice people. By law they must get off duty sleep time. The air noise you here is a combination of air dryers and the trucks air compressed kicking off after they fill their air tanks. Just like you hear in a shop with air compressors for their air tools they use. Used to drive for a living. Sry for the typos, it's the stupid auto correct/fill on my phone.
The compressor for the air brakes is driven off the engine. It pumps continuous. A pressure regulator valve blows off. Excessive pressure when it is created. Scares the shit out of me every time.
I want to say it's a opossum skull, however without seeing it better I don't know. My very first thought was K9 such as a coyote. Also have you tried driving through the night when traffic is light. And sleeping at the rest areas in the daytime when the rest areas aren't as busy, or at least not as many people staying over. I used to do that when driving horses across country. Id drive till like 10am then eat and go to sleep till I woke up usually around 5 and by the time I would eat and go again i would miss the rush hour traffic an travel through the night stopping to rest as needed. But it worked out great. But honestly I got good at sleeping 2 to 4 hours at a time and going on I always had to keep aware of the horses and nothing scaring them and not wanting to leave them in the trailer to long. And I've spent many nights at many truck stops in an F350 with a gooseneck trailer loaded with horses, also slept in the day like I said before. I've always looked at it as im a customer and I'm driving and I need a rest. I parked next to the semis or over in the rv parking or in the car parking taking 2 spots. And if an attendant said anything I'd tell them I couldn't park next to the semis because the air brakes were spooking a horse. Sometimes it was the case especially with young horses. And we would try to convert our back to stalls whenever possible
I downloaded the updated app. You can only download one area at a time for free. You can pay 60 or 90 if you want. Depending on how many maps you want to download off line. I have not bought in yet but did download a free map one at a time. Just trying it out before I pay.
Hey, thanks so much for this information! I use the app all the time, so I would pay for it myself if necessary. I’ve never really had to use the app in off-line mode however. So maybe I can avoid the fee? 🌲🌵
Also one more thing, I don't think you're following is that big that you're going to have thousands and thousands of people show up to your camp spot. just say. I'm in no means trying to be rude. I watch every one of your videos and look forward to the next.
I was thinking the same thing...lol. How big does he think his channel is?..and I ain't knocking him. I enjoy his videos. I think it's more that he's keeping it as a perk for Patreon subscribers on giving his locations away.
OK, to explain to you....if every stop is listed and you tell people and they tell people, etc, that will be a lot of people that are too lazy to find the spots on your own. He has access to the same info you do and doesn't do any magic to find the spots! Stop your judgment!
@@dennisantosh8681 Easy there quick draw! Nobody here passing judgement. Just see a couple of guys that don't happen to agree that divulging his camp spot is going to pack it out. Let's not turn this into something it's not.
I full-time in my class c. When i gas up at Love's 50 gallons fuel I'm not going to spend another dime to rest up!! I'll park back with the semi's! I remember a couple of stops at cracker barrel two semis and a wrecker semi parked in the back, running their loud engines all night long!! Bottom line is when your tired you just crash out! Same for rest area's!
The over-wide truck parking space is for trucks with an "Over Sized" load. The gravel shoulder, next to the exit ramp, that is the space nobody cares who parks anything in. Some are in better shape than others.
No on feeding Eco more food. He’s eating the poop because there’s no green grass to help with digestion. That skull may be a raccoon but couldn’t see it well enough. Dodger is ready to go. Come on Dad let’s go!!!
On the road again 🎶⛽🚙...safe travels to your destination. You can also stay overnight for free at Cracker Barrel Restaurants, they have special spaces for campers. Probably a lot quieter too. Locations should be on IOverlander, I think.
I’ve never stayed at a Cracker Barrel. But apparently some of them do allow you to stay overnight. I have stayed overnight at a couple of Walmarts. Although most Walmarts do not allow overnighters. But some still do. 🌵🌲
Trucks that have air leaks will cycle more often when the pressure drops below 95 or 100 lb the air compressor re-engage and then pops off when it gets to about 120 PSI
Hmm, don't think I would raise the hood of my truck to warm the engine. Firstly, raising your hood is a sign of distress, and you could potentially attrack the 'wrong' kind of help, thinking you are defenseless. Secondly, your truck is black, so the sun on the hood is acutally much hotter acting like an oven to heat your engine. Just saying bro...

You cannot overfill a legal modern propane tank with a OPD valve( overfill protection device).
Also contains a check valve that stops too much flow...
At the loves the propane was shooting out.
@GotOut probably wasn't connected right
I only just downloaded it, never used it before, but it wants a yearly payment if you want to have more than one state usable at a time.

Does an overfilled propane tank cause some sort of inefficiency with your heater and other appliances ?
Mine has started leaking propane when it is very full and the outside temperature is high.

Trucks that have air leaks will cycle more often when the pressure drops below 95 or 100 lb the air compressor re-engage and then pops off when it gets to about 120 PSI
Trucks that are holding their air pressure IE no leaks you won't hear them pop off very often
