Just wanted to let you know I’m currently in cosmo school and our instructor uses your videos as assignments where after we watch we write a paper on things in your video we would implement in the salon. Thank you for such helpful info ❤️
You should do a video talking about good hair shampoos/conditioners at the drugstore, and the ones that are really harmful to your hair! I would love to see that since im not too informed on the topic, and you must have an interesting and professional approach to the topic 💕
Hi Sam Vay, thank you for your TH-cam hair consultation! What I learned from you is: 1. You and your clients time and money is mutually valuable. 2. Hair consultation is an art and a systems process of mutual relationship development. 3. Learn from each client everyday. Excellent communication and approachable advice for cosmetologist and barbers! Thank you again.
I love your videos! They help me grow to become a better cosmetologist! Any tips on taking amazing pictures of your clients hair? Your Instagram pictures are stunning
I definitely get a better/ more personal consultation if I'm gace to face with them. I'm still in school so I'm pretty much just verifying what they told the front desk but I feel like the client really appreciate s a face to face consultation vs a tall through the mirror approach
I seriously wish you were in Chicago because bible anytime I’ve been to a hair stylist I’ve had bad experiences to where I haven’t even been since my wedding in 2017
Hi, this is great you’re great at explaining why you ask certain questions. Do you have a list of questions that you would ask the client when you’re doing a colour consultation?
have you ever had anyone walk out because the price was too much and then later come back with botched hair color? if so can do you do a video about these situations and how you dealt with it.
I haven't had that happen to me personally yet (although I have had new clients come in that previously went somewhere else and had botched work). I can do a video on that, but my best advice is 1) don't trash talk the other stylist/salon to the client, regardless of how bad it actually is lol 2) stand your ground on the price. explain that it is going to be even MORE expensive now that it's a correction and that they may not leave with their goal hair during this first appointment because a correction takes time and sometimes requires multiple sessions.
@@styledbysamvay the woman who corrected my color pretended that she knew the stylist from the previous salon I went to and I fell for it.. she didn't disclose the price of what my hair would cost.. end result was 600$ and my scalp is in pain. This was May 2019.
I always ask if their occupation limits what can be done or limits what they’re asking for. But that’s mainly because I focus on lifestyle hair, hair for specific occupations and lifestyles.
Love your videos! But i think there is nothing wrong with suave ,I actually think is better then the expensive brands . It does wonders on my hair . Expensive doesn"t mean the best you know = )
Cheaper products are cheaper for a reason. Suave is actually really harsh on the hair, which especially isn't good if your hair is color processed. I'm all for drugstore products when it comes to makeup, hairspray, dry shampoo, etc. But for shampoo/conditioner and heat protectants, majority of the cheaper stuff isn't good. If Suave is working for you though, do your thing! I just don't recommend it to my clients. :)
Not only is suave harsher but it has a higher ph value jacking open the cuticle layer of your hair ever time you wash. Adding color on top of this and your expensive salon color will surely was out.
Yoly M do you mean upsell? Just keep it honest. I never try talking my clients into something that they don’t really need. The second someone feels like you’re trying to sell them things just to make more money, you’ve officially lost their trust. When you’re asking them about their hair and what they would like to change - actually listen. And take a look for yourself and see what stands out to you. Is their hair dry? Could it use a treatment? Do they need a haircut? And when you’re suggesting additional services, explain and educate them on why you feel they need it and what difference it’ll make for them.
Girl you're gonna make such a badass business woman! I definitely see you owning your own salon and being very successful at it!!
Ahh wow thank you! :)

Hi there! what kind of salon products/brands would you recommend for heavily bleached hair??
Good to see you. I guess you have to check your sound system or microphone for better sound. I'm just guessing.
Thanks! Yes I've been slowly working on trying to have a better overall set up.
Love your videos! But i think there is nothing wrong with suave ,I actually think is better then the expensive brands . It does wonders on my hair . Expensive doesn"t mean the best you know = )

Thank you for this video!
When do I do the strand test?
Love it ❤️
How do you determine if they are using good hair products?
How can we undersell them? Can you cover that? Thanks 😊
