I still see a leak. Cheap and easy fix I did on mine... Steel wool double layered, held in place with furnace tape. (Furnace tape is only to hold the steel wool, otherwise it wouldn't last a couple of hours on the exhaust). Then layer aluminum sheeting over the steel wool using furnace tape to hold the sheeting in place so you can add a clamp or two. Works great and lasts a long time. Aluminum sheeting may need 2 - 4 layers depending on the hole.

Also had many welders in the shop, mig, tig, arc, stick etc. Sold almost all equip including my Millermatic 225 or my Lincoln TIG welder that I most likely would have used on this repair. Just recently purchased a brand new in the box Chicago Electric 90 amp Flux core welder from my neighbor for $50. Do you think Flux core can weld this? And yes, would have liked it if it was a 140 amp but it is what it is and I bought it as I did not have a welder any longer. Incidentally...... for "shits and giggles" and remind readers that safety on any job should be a priority. Few years ago sold business because of an injury. Winter was coming and wife wanted a stand by generator in case of loosing electricity up here in Northern Maine. Purchased a new Rigid 6800 one night from Home Depot, opened up my service panel to see where I was going to install the power feed for the house and stupidly grabbed a live 220 circuit powering my shed that has all my carpentry saws and tools and electrocuted myself thru my left hand (actually my thumb). My black thumb and forefinger were the worst burns 911 paramedics had seen they said. Wish that was the worst injury that night. Wife said the shock thru me some 6-10 ft and my body went into a seizure for over 3 minutes. Wife thought I was having a stroke, neither of which I ever had before. Wife's the best tho....she reminds me daily the names of my friends and neighbors...and also to take those dam pills (Keppra) so I don't seize. True story...again will a flux core weld this?
Looks like a big messy, pain in the a** job to me, that's made even more difficult by not having a proper hydraulic lift to get the vehicle up high enough off of the ground to work on it. (I've spent countless hours under my cars, over the years, using only jackstands and it can be a huge hassle.) I wouldn't trust the longevity of this repair either. Seems like a cheap and temporary fix at best. I personally wouldn't waste my time and money on such a repair, but i do understand that sometimes you have to do the best that you can with what you've got and with what you can afford.
My car failed inspection due to exhaust and garage told me my flex hose has a hole in it. Now I am curious to look. Too bad it's December instead of August. Nice way to get pneumonia laying on the ground.
I gotta do this on my flexi pipe. Just a temporary fix till payday before I can payout for a new pipe to be fitted. But in the meantime hopefully it quietens it down enough to not attract attention 😅
I mean, really you don't need a gasket to be fair, the paste and clamp would seal it supertight, so gasket is really overkill, but welding? Super overkill and in fact stupid, because when you come to replacing either part of the exhaust you'd have to grind off the steel welding rod, which is a nightmare!
This may holding in place temporarily, but it's still smoking. So technically, it is not repaired. That flex pipe is going to split on the corrugations eventually. It also appears like there's a broken or loose motor mount, too much shaking.
More trouble than I want to go through! But, thanks for the upload! Question, just how long is this fast easy fix supposed too last! You lost me on jacking up the car! Lol
This is absolute emergency repair for the broke budget person, it won't last very long, its temp repair. I can do better temp repair with soup can and hose clamps, or better yet get a new flex pipe and put it on, then it will last very long time.
I do Hillbilly repairs too! But my car is 17 y/o and it is G-6 Detroit car. SALT!!!!!! I get two tall boy beer cans cut the ends sleeve it over the damaged parts and 3 hose clamps. It will get me 6 months and quiets it down enough to avoid JOHNNY LAW ! Hell I even then hand it with a drill hole and DOG CHAIN to lower the pressure. Taking it to my shade tree mechanic to evaluate the motor and transmission. If he says the motor still ok. I spend the 300 bucks and get a new exhaust via a license dealer. 19 moths left on my wifes payment book on her 2018 Buick Encore. Then it is my turn. I never had two car payments at once. Been very lucky. ( Once, my 1990 ford ranger motor let go at 369K with ORGINAL clutch on the night of my wifes second complete payment book. Send the payoff check 4 hours before! Original Ford Escape x'ed out via DRUNK ASSHAT!!! Wife ok. ) I might be out of luck this time!
Notice the big puff of smoke coming out of the pipe where the "repair" was made. I can't believe that is a real product. Does the maker also sell red tape to "fix" broken tail lights? LOL!
All this shortcuts always make you disappointed and then you have to do it again. And here in Sweden they measure how much shit you pollute the air with so no shortcuts here.
An easier way would have been to use a vacuum at the end to create a negative air flow ti would have sucked in the paste into the whole for a better connection. Then after that use a heat gun.
If you don't support that wiggling muffler with some type of support so it's own weight doesn't lie on itself or move or bounce when you drive then within a week or less you'll be right back at it again
And when the paste hardens, drive it to the muffler shop.
Yep, all it is is a temporary fix
and it's flammable.
When the paste hardens, drive to the dealership and buy a freaking new vehicle.

I personally wouldn't waste my time and money on such a repair, but i do understand that sometimes you have to do the best that you can with what you've got and with what you can afford.
Could this be Welded as well?
do you have to use exactly that brand i cant find it:(
Just slap.some flex tape
Well nice ah... try, It still leaks but the noise is reduced I guess thats the whole point
My car failed inspection due to exhaust and garage told me my flex hose has a hole in it. Now I am curious to look. Too bad it's December instead of August. Nice way to get pneumonia laying on the ground.
Are you in Miami?
I gotta do this on my flexi pipe. Just a temporary fix till payday before I can payout for a new pipe to be fitted. But in the meantime hopefully it quietens it down enough to not attract attention 😅
Exhaust still leaking...it's better to weld it again
And professional. Why would you weld an exhaust??? 🙄
Che lavoro da carpentiere. Nulla togliere al loro lavoro. Li andava sostituito tutto.
Quick fixes never last
This may holding in place temporarily, but it's still smoking. So technically, it is not repaired. That flex pipe is going to split on the corrugations eventually. It also appears like there's a broken or loose motor mount, too much shaking.
Temporary fix. Why not?
Hmmmm the way the engine sounds it's not gonna hold up very long!! And YES definitely get some exhaust hangers to support it!!
why not weld the engine to the frame? and weld the exhaust too! no more problem!
Did many repairs like this on my exhaust when I was a teenager and broke, I give it a week LOL
It completes the definition of polish proverb: cleaning an asshole with broken glass.
Open pack, read all instructions carefully then throw it all in the bin.
You can never have too many stands. Safer the better
If I leave my car like that will it cause any damage? Kinda like how it sounds
More trouble than I want to go through! But, thanks for the upload! Question, just how long is this fast easy fix supposed too last! You lost me on jacking up the car! Lol
Well if you leave it in the driveway it could last for years. 😂😂
Just fix it the right way!
Getto fix , I replaced the exhaust manifold, converter , flex pipe, resonator, mid pipe and muffler under $500 then cashed in the converter for $170
lol,,, the smoke is not a good sign, gave it a thumbs up cause it showed me what not to do
And when you’re finished with that, fill the car full of oil filters and brake rotors, and take it to the metal recyclers!
Really i dont know how much you value you’re time but this is a $ 35 weld almost any where and faster and no mess
It never works too much weight and movement in the exhaust. Maybe last a mile.
When I see a repair video that looks like I'm the one who put it together, I worry 😂.
How about, "FLEX SEAL". After which you can seal that giant hole in your boat.😂
I was thinking of that too
Root cause of pipe breakage is a blown engine/transmission mount. It's only going to break again.
Wtf is a blown mount? Lool. It's a block of rubber and steel fasteners. Maybe "cracked" or "dry rotted".
This guy really made a mess of everything.
And to top it off starting the engine before hardening.
An easier way would have been to use a vacuum at the end to create a negative air flow ti would have sucked in the paste into the whole for a better connection. Then after that use a heat gun.
Another way would be to just buy a new exhaust
I have a sharpvac and $12 for the exhaust repair kit not $300 just to replace something with a small hole that can easily be fixed
Good idea, but on a 1996, the rest of it probably has just as many leaks.
Is this good for long term?
No
When the flat earthers couldn't find the edge of the world.
This man is struggling like a slave 😭😭
How not to repair an exhaust leak!!
This stuff has been around since ?
My pipe broke in two just next to the muffler box how can i fix it ?
What's that mesh thing called?
If you don't support that wiggling muffler with some type of support so it's own weight doesn't lie on itself or move or bounce when you drive then within a week or less you'll be right back at it again
Wire weld in less time good to go secure it from moving around hanger is broken or missing
This is the hack of all hacks!
What a BS video...
How much did you make for making this???
