My November is The Navigators Children by Tad William finishing up his sequel series to Memory, Sorrow, and Thorn and then I'll continue Gai-Jin by James Clavell or continue The Bound and the Broken
I know you don’t do audio books Mike but that is the ONLY way I can ever get through huge books. It would take me months to get through Shogun, simply because of time, work, kids limitations. Can breeze through the audiobooks though.
I usually can predict what your book of the month will be based on the subject matter and how much I know you're into each subject. Like Ordinary Grace being coming of age and youve said before you love that sub-genre, I expected it would be your favorite for the month. But with these 4, I think any of them could be your book of the month. All 4 couldn't be contenders for book of the year but I'm going to predict that 1 of them my be slightly disappointing. They're all sequels to books you've loved so expectations can't help but be high.
Still can't get the Sanderson hype, I read his standalones, liked Warbreaker but DNF'd Mistborn after 2 books. As an avid fantasy reader, what am I missing?
I agree with you - I would have picked THE FURY OF THE GODS between those 3 (Sanderson would be last, lol) It’s pure payoff, Mike. Hope you love it! I requested THE DEVILS but alas. It’s okay, I’ve got it preordered. I’ll just get by vicariously through your highlights and review.
I am that one oddball in the fantasy community who really gets turned off from big bertha books. I think the best thing I know is a book series filled with short-ish books (Like 100,000-ish pages)
Me after watching this video: “screw it! Screw it! I’m reading Pillars of the Earth now! Right now! Don’t care what comes out or what I discover soon it’s happening now!
So far the only Abercrombie I have read is the shattered sea trilogy and I enjoyed it You could tell it's probably not his best work it feels like reading Some of the forgotten realms fantasy novels Probably the 1st of the year I will start the 1st law trilogy
The Shadow of the Gods was a let down for me...I don't think i'm going to bother with the rest of the series...just have way too much on the TBR. I also started and read the first half of The Last Kingdom and bleh...it was very mid....felt like I was reading a history book, more than a novel. No real character development and dialogue. Alot of telling and not showing. Just meh. So I think I'm done with that series as well since it seems like most of the books are similar. Here's to hoping I can find something that works....going to start "The Girl with all the Gifts" today.
I’m incredibly excited for The Fury of the Gods and can’t wait to discuss it with you, Mike! What a loaded November you’re looking at!

The only Ken Follett book that I’ve read is ‘Jackdaws.’ It isn’t a chonker. Under 500 pages. It’s set during WWII and revolves around a team of inexperienced women, who are trained for a secret infiltration mission. It was gripping, it was gritty, it was unapologetic. I loved it.
I didn’t think Ken COULD write a story under 1000 pages ha ha
Do you plan on releasing a review for rain wild chronicles soon? Up until now ive always watched your review before reading the books and now i feel weird cuz i cant for the first time🤣🤣
Probably not. The individual reviews didn’t get a ton of interest. I wrapped it all into the Good & the Bad of Realm of the Elderlings video.
My November is The Navigators Children by Tad William finishing up his sequel series to Memory, Sorrow, and Thorn and then I'll continue Gai-Jin by James Clavell or continue The Bound and the Broken
Al reasonable picks
Sounds like a good month. I'm very excited for fury of the gods I fucking love john
He’s awesome
I know you don’t do audio books Mike but that is the ONLY way I can ever get through huge books. It would take me months to get through Shogun, simply because of time, work, kids limitations. Can breeze through the audiobooks though.
I get that. I wish I could. I’d get through some of the chonkers way faster.
I meant all 4 could be Book of the Year contenders.
Definitely won’t be an easy pick.
I’ve been reading too many big boys back to back. My November will definitely be much lighter. Like horror short stories lighter.
Always gotta take breaks from those chonkers
Still can't get the Sanderson hype, I read his standalones, liked Warbreaker but DNF'd Mistborn after 2 books. As an avid fantasy reader, what am I missing?
Sweet Sejenus
🙏
Anyone know if Mike has read any Gene Wolfe yet?
I agree with you - I would have picked THE FURY OF THE GODS between those 3 (Sanderson would be last, lol) It’s pure payoff, Mike. Hope you love it!
I requested THE DEVILS but alas. It’s okay, I’ve got it preordered. I’ll just get by vicariously through your highlights and review.
Outstanding. Can’t wait!
I am that one oddball in the fantasy community who really gets turned off from big bertha books. I think the best thing I know is a book series filled with short-ish books (Like 100,000-ish pages)
No, I get it. I can get burned out when I read too many in short periods.
Is devil’s start of new story or do I need to read first law?
Nope, it’s totally new
Me after watching this video: “screw it!
Buckle up!
Can anyone confirm if The Devils is the start of a new series or a standalone?
It’s a planned trilogy, I believe.
@@mikesbookreviews thanks Mike!
666 likes... I'm not sure if that means I'm supposed to Like the video or leave it alone :D
Life’s too short to read books you aren’t liking.
For the moment in November I only have The Panther and Radiant Angel by Nelson DeMille
Enjoy!
