Not too long ago Mussolini invaded Albania.
Albanians fought back viciously ( with weapons of the 1800s) and almost kicked out the invading Italians.
Mussolini's Uncle Adolph had to step in to bail out the Italians.

Much of the early modern architecture is Italian, when Fascist Italy either influenced the country or occupied it. Florestano Di Fausto and Armando Brasini were important architects in the design of the modern city. Post war buildings are from the Communist period. Despite the shadow of totalitarian regimes in the city’s past, Tirana has a unique charm from being a Balkan mountain city and it does have a lot to offer to today’s Western tourists.

Albania has a very good position if you want to keep it as a base and visit the Balkans. It takes you ( estimated) 2-3 hours to visit whole Montenegro, 4 hours to end up in Dubrovnik ( Croatia), 3 hours to visit Pristina or other Kosova towns, 4 hours to visit Macedonia and 4-5 hours to visit Thessaloniki in Greece.
Or you can stay a night over in Serbia, Bosnia, Croatia, Bulgaria, Istanbul and Athens as they are a bit more further away than the previous ones.
With the new highways being built everywhere in Albania and in other neighbouring countries it is so easy to get everywhere these days.

Visiting today you’ll see that we’ve already changed a lot in just 2 years. A couple of attractions in Tirana that I also recommend visiting are the newly rebuilt Tirana Zoo, The Botanical Zoo(which is currently being renovated), the Museum of Sciences, The Art Gallery, Latitude(an indoor arial park), the artificial lake, Dajti Adventure park and other smaller attractions. Nonetheless Tirana has changed quite a bit in the last 2 years. I’d recommend that anyone coming to visit rent out an apartment or a hotel near the artificial lake or along one of the main streets such as “Rruga e Durrësit(Durrës Street)” as they tend to be less expensive at times but still are not too far away and very easy locations from which to get to the city centre. Either way I hope my comment was informative and helpful to anyone who may have read it. If you have any questions feel free to ask them. Thank you for your attention and goodbye.

Thank you very much for making such beautiful videos. :) I personally come from the Balkans (but I come from a country that is a part of the EU) and the Balkan countries that are a part of the EU really underestimate the rest of the peninsula I think. And in some of these countries it is still considered "dangerous" to travel to Albania, Bosnia, Kosovo, etc. But it seems very peaceful and not the way it is presented in the media.

Tirana is a charming city with a lot to offer. The locals are friendly and welcoming, and the food is delicious. There are so many interesting sights to see, including the Skanderbeg Square and the Et'hem Bey Mosque. Overall, I had a great time in Tirana and would definitely recommend it as a destination.
