I moved from France to Canada eight years ago. No regrets since. Of course each countries have upsides and downsides. But the past few years were tough due to the inflation and more. We had a similar-ish timeline. Came in 2015 and left in 2023. It was the place I learned to be independent and eventually that growth made me outgrow the place. I learned that I was treated better back home in the Philippines.
Wow…you have to undergo such a process to achieve this visa approval and to move. You did your part, now it's up to destiny. I was in your shoes. I initially moved to Albania (Vlore), then applied for Portugal (not the golden visa) and ended up in Spain. There are other immigration/residency ways that you'll find about only once you live in the country. I visited Bulgaria briefly and found some parts of it similar to Canada. Accept the outcome, good karma knows better
Good luck with the move. As a Canadian Bulgarian I can attest that the bureaucracy is daunting and borderline nonsensical but should come right in the end. Bulgaria, as you know, is wonderful and the people fantastic. Hope to see you around in Sofia. Good luck.
WOW! That's a BIG move! Hope everything goes well!! Pretty cool on the CN Tower Edgewalk. They didn't offer that back in 2002 when I visited the tower before taking in a Red Sox/Blue Jays game.

i was one of them.from Feb 2024, very simple back to my EU birth city / country in Capital City Bratislava, Slovakia , dual national Canadian (toronto) aswell
Seriously, you THINK SO? If you follow European channels, most of them say European countries are slamming doors shut. The continent is too close to troubled zones.
The EU is falling apart. Neverending political, economic and migrant crises. They lost access to Russian cheap resources. They are losing the Chinese markets. And in 2025 they'll get new tariffs from Trump. Everyone is leaving the EU.
@@Murmilone It would be a mistake for the US government to slap tariffs all over the place. Those of us informed of economic history haven't forgotten that the Great Depression was propelled by stupid use of tariffs. That happened in a Republican government. My econ professor said tariffs were the WORST thing to do at the time. Two major policy mistakes was the Fed tightening the money supply and Congress foolishly passing in idiotic tariff law.
Good luck Alina! I am a Canadian who has lived in Bulgaria since 2018. I will be returning to Canada in the next few months. Interesting to see that we are making the opposite moves!
Congrats Alina, nothing to regret in Canada. Bulgaria is nice place to stay and cheap to live. Take a flight for 30 Euro and flight to any part of Europe, or take a car to drive up north or south to Turkey at taste the best grill ever. So many nice places to see and cheap to stay. Enjoy Christmas and Christmas food around in Europe, pay 30-50 for airbnb and stay in Alps. So many options to enjoy life in Europe.
Good luck with papers and hope to arrive in Bulgaria as you planned! Something about the food here in Bulgaria - guess you already know it - you can afford going out for dinner each eve. As I was working with Austrians here in Plovdiv, they barely cooked anything, was telling me that it is so cheap to eat out here, so there is no need for them to cook themselves. And for the food itself - you know the taste :)
Hey Alina! Toronto native speaking, sorry to have you go! I wish you all the best in your new life in Bulgaria! I'll be sure to hit up roasters Coffee shop next time I'm on the Danforth! -Best!
I never do comments, but as a Bulgarian I feel the need to say some stuff. Bulgaria is most likely the best country to live in Europe, most likely in the world. Now I say this without any kind of irony, even it may sound like it. There is just one small caviat, you will live great meaningfull life here only and olny if you are well educated and are and are in a job of high demand aka IT or International Banking or some other well paying job. Other than that wheather is great, people are polite and helpfull most of the times. Just focus on the Sofia and Plovdiv. I had many year abroad and after I came back, I realize that Bulgaria is the only place that I want to build a family, and I did.In Sofia there are huge wave of foreigners that realize it is great place for living. I met few that are from US and Canada and they say it was the best desicion they ever did. And again knowing what shitshow Canada is the last 6 years I don't know why half of Sofia is not Canadians / US emigrants. As long as you are hard working and respect our Ortodox Christian traditions you are welcome and I PROMISE YOU WILL LOVE IT HERE. Sorry for the spelling, just I'm verry dislexic
I always read these glowing narratives and my one hedge is this. EVERYBODY can't relocate to any one place. Like Alina said Panama. Sure, for many Panama could be "the answer". But not millions and millions. Heck, Trondheim Norway could be perfect for some Americans, But how many? How many would Japan take in. I'd go to Japan for an extended visit. So would Alina. She had some of the best days in her life since teenage years. Sad reality: A percent of us just need to stay and cope. But I'm really happy that Alina will settle in Sofia. I've been there. My days were a blessing.
You are obviously in great need of prayers. I will pray for you that things will turn out in the best way. And I believe that many other believers who love you will also pray for you. Don't worry, everything will be fine.🙏🙏🙏😇😇😇

I am guessing visa application process would be a whole different story if Bulgaria wasn't part of EU. I am assuming it would be much simpler and easier , maybe ?
We're not queuing for a Bulgarian visa 😂 The owner of this channel is. And she's probably gonna be back to good old Canada within 3 years. Just watch it.
@@logomoko78 I don't think Canada can fix it's problems in 3 years. Try 10-20 years. You guys have dug yourselves into quite the hole. Maybe she won't stay in Bulgaria that long, but I doubt she would return back to Canada anytime soon.
@@logomoko78If you have money Bulgaria is not a bad place to stay.Assuming you don't live in the city.Big cities are nightmare at least to me.
@@logomoko78 she might come back, it depends on her. the life in Europe is not easy, it's every day struggle here and that doesn't please much the north Americans. my husband is Canadian from Ontario and he faces a big difficulties here in Europe, but with my help he still manages...9 years already
Thanks for the update, Bulgaria is a wonderful place! 😊
You’re welcome in Bulgaria! Quite the courage for this step!
Thank you very much!
Happy to welcome you soon to my country! You will love everything here, from the weather, to the wonderful places, and not the last the warm and friendly Bulgarian people.
Just a note of praise and encouragement. I am your father’s age and I admire all of you TH-camrs for having the courage to take the chance and become travel vloggers and to make the move to Bulgaria as it is a real big project. I was raised in a small rural town in in my era we couldn’t even think out of the box like today’s generation. Good luck and best wishes and I will continue to follow you.
@@alanarifuku3500 thank you so much 🙂
Good luck and enjoy your new adventure here in Bulgaria!
Thank you! 😃
Best of luck with everything Alina .
Hi Alina! Im sure everything will be much faster than what you have been told and you will proceed as planned so dont stress out. As Bulgarian myself i want to tell you that you have made great choice of next country you will call home and im very happy that you made that choice ( and the logic behind that choice is perfect). I want to wish you all the best in your new life there and keep in mind that in case of any struggles you always could ask bulgarians for help, they always will be there for you ( if not just txt me and i will do my best to help you).xxxx
Thank you so much, very appreciated!
I moved from France to Canada eight years ago.
No regrets since. Of course each countries have upsides and downsides. But the past few years were tough due to the inflation and more.
I worry more for my kids, the household cost is madness, the healthcare system is in shamble (I live in Québec, don't know about the other provinces).
I am Canadian citizen now and I really love my place. Let's see how things evolve... life is long.
In the meantime, best of luck for you Alina, Europe is a wonderful continent!
Good for you! All the best!
I hear Bulgaria is a beautiful country.
I can testify it is VERY beautiful. I can't relocate, but I came away from my visit with warm memories.
@@JimMork-r9u Good!
Welcome to Bulgaria! The right country in these hard years😅. If you need some kind of help here just ask!
Whatever your choice is, I'll root for you. Have fun.
My great grandparents are on both sides are from Bulgaria and have been there for 3 times(1993, 1996, and 2018.) Bulgaria is an amazing country and am planning to move there when I retire in Canada. I wish you good luck and hope you meet good people in Bulgaria.
That's awesome, thank you!
@@AlinaMcleodIt used to be great not anymore ....
I wish you the best, darling Alina! I
I hope my country will treat you well and you stay there long, long time feeling happy and fulfilled.
Having immigrated in Canada 21 years ago, me and my husband are looking forward to leave it now. It's incomprehensible how this once great country is turned to this broken, sad place it is now.
As a Bulgarian I am really proud you chose our country and go through this sort of painful process to come and live in Bulgaria!
I hope everything works out for you quicker and you succeed with everything and that you will love your life in Sofia ❤
Sounds great
Finally got visa.
🎉🎉🎉🎉❤
Alina you are still looking amazing. I'm glad to see you are taking steps to secure more of the adventure that you love. Looking forward to more great content! :-)
Wishing you all the very best in the next chapter of your adventure!
Thank you so much!
Well done Alina on the CN tower walk. I have been to the top of it, but I would never be that brave. 😲🏆👍😊🇮🇪💙🇨🇦
Wow I lost my old acc and just came across your channel again and now you're moving to my country thats crazy, I remember you came here traveling. Best of luck❤
Welcome to Bulgaria. You will love it! ❤
Good luck to settling down into your new life in Bulgaria 🙂
Loved the video so much! The intro made me emotional as well. Canada will always be a part of you, and who knows-one day you might come back and start again! Or perhaps you’ll never return and settle in different countries instead. Life is unpredictable and fascinating. Wishing you all the luck and happiness, Alina! I’m so glad to see another woman exploring the world!
She has had so MANY "homes". I have too, but only one country. She's a nomad, I grew up with one. But I had fewer parents.
It sure is. Thank you so much!
Wish you great time. Lots of love from Montreal
Its actually insane the amount of people leaving Canada right now
Lol not really population growing here.
@@charleythadog2265 That doesnt mean people arent leaving lol
@@charleythadog2265 ya all from india. What he means is actual canadians leaving. Good luck to you in Mumbai Charley you are going to need it! Also, you should learn Punjab it will make your life easier!
The only ones leaving are the Chinese. White people love Canada and all of Europe is begging to move here.
4 million left since 2019 that's why huge immigration numbers from India post 2019 to make up the population numbers
God bless you and all Canadian at this bad situation 🙏 today we have .😢🎉❤
I hope you a happy life in Bulgaria😊

Hi alina im a 67 yrold filipino. always watching your video love it. God bless in all your endeavors. Your new subscriber.
I visited Vancouver, Toronto, and Montreal, all on three separate occasions during the 2010’s pre-lockdowns! I liked all three cities. They all had their own charm. Canada looked much more appealing back then. Nowadays I have zero desire to visit there, especially post-lockdowns! I’ve seen Canada’s dark side!
Good luck on the move Alina. Thanks for taking us along. Kudos to you for the edge walk. It stressed me out just watching. I had to end the video when one participant leaned back. I was getting too anxious for him. ❤
As a Bulgarian I am so happy that you chose Bulgaria ❤ Hope Bulgaria will be the right place for you! Bulgaria changes every day for the better and attracts a lot of people! Wishing you all the luck 🙏🙏🙏.You are an amazing young lady!!!
Thank you, I hope so too!
It will probably disappoint her.

There is no such a place as a right place.
One has to move constantly to not get bored.
The cities I visited 17 years ago have changed SO much as shown in her videos.
Spasiba daragaya Alina. Thanks from Bulgaria, vith love.
LMAO you trying to type some russian in latin words
You did your part, now it's up to destiny. I was in your shoes. I initially moved to Albania (Vlore), then applied for Portugal (not the golden visa) and ended up in Spain. There are other immigration/residency ways that you'll find about only once you live in the country. I visited Bulgaria briefly and found some parts of it similar to Canada. Accept the outcome, good karma knows better
wise saying
Good luck with the move. As a Canadian Bulgarian I can attest that the bureaucracy is daunting and borderline nonsensical but should come right in the end. Bulgaria, as you know, is wonderful and the people fantastic. Hope to see you around in Sofia. Good luck.
WOW! That's a BIG move! Hope everything goes well!! Pretty cool on the CN Tower Edgewalk. They didn't offer that back in 2002 when I visited the tower before taking in a Red Sox/Blue Jays game.
Welcome to Bulgaria! We love to have you here!
Thank you so much!
Very happy for you Alina! Bulgaria must be a beautiful country, very welcoming. Wish you all the best and take care⭐️💕🍀
Bulgaria is a amazing country I have been here for a couple of years now I also come on visa d good luck
That's great, Alina! I remember watching your vlogs from Plovdiv and the 7 Rila Lakes. So nice to have you here ☺
Everybody will be moving over to Europe after the end of this Russia/Ukraine war!
Bulgaria is very nice and Sofia is only 5 hours from the Black Sea coast!
Good luck Alina!
i was one of them.from Feb 2024, very simple back to my EU birth city / country in Capital City Bratislava, Slovakia , dual national Canadian (toronto) aswell
Yeah, lol everybody wants to experience cultural enrichment from native europeans. Russia seems more appealing
You are more than welcome in Bulgaria ! I am sure that you will like it. 😎
Good luck Alina! I am a Canadian who has lived in Bulgaria since 2018. I will be returning to Canada in the next few months. Interesting to see that we are making the opposite moves!
Честито, добре дошла!
Hey, Alina! Good luck on getting your visa soon. Wishing you all the best in your new country of resisence. 😊
I did the Edgewalk in 2016, your video brings back memories 🥰
great viseo. your definitely ahead of the curve amongst your peers
-Best!
Alina, Srecno v Bulgaria. Pravete snimki!
Good luck Alina❤🙏👍👋
Your initiation into developing country bureaucracy! You are gonna get really familiar with it!
Congratulations Alina Mcleod
Wish you all the best, Alina, in a new country.
I'm from Bulgaria. Welcome and may your dreams come true here
You are obviously in great need of prayers. I will pray for you that things will turn out in the best way. And I believe that many other believers who love you will also pray for you. Don't worry, everything will be fine.🙏🙏🙏😇😇😇
