@@GarageTimeAutoResto Almost! You have that neat letter "S" in front of your "C". Yours is in infinitely better condition than mine - I bought it in '99 and added 150k to the odo. I finally became tired of the holes in the seats and that funky moldy smell. I'm starting with the interior and might someday paint the rest of the car. It's a backwards way of doing things, but this car will always be a driver for me.
I love that you are enjoying your car before you tear it apart. I drove mine as long as I could before I couldn't take it anymore. Now all the memories come rushing back
Thanks, I have a lot to say apparently.😀 At least someone is listening. TH-cam does a great job of finding people to listen to me, ha ha, but I realize this content is not for the masses.
Well done mate, Looking forward to see how you do the door opening seals, who ever installed mine when it was restored used the wrong adhesive and now they are constantly falling off. Another thing to note for those who are about to install the door window frames is the bolt that holds the vertical frame near the door latch has a thinner head than normal, if a normal bolt is used it will hit the painted frame of the door opening.
Good fact about the rear bolt with a thinner head. I showed these bolts on the regulator too. In my case a regular bolt doesn't hit the door jam, but I will swap it out with the correct bolt at the next plated batch.
Concerning the threshold, I think it is very important as you see it every time you open the door. I did lots of reading up on doing it correctly. Some might appreciate seeing you do it as you are so correct on details. Great door window and door card video!
Dr Brett Johnson has a very good diagram and the Ron Roland book is also a great reference. I can show it in video format, but I rely on those books alot
I appreciate so much your channel and all precious shared informations I started a cosmetic restoration on my last 356 Hope meeting you next February at the LA show if you attend Philippe
Commenting as I watch. Time index 2:20 a tip I learned rebuilding my beetle - sprinkle some baby powder in those fuzzy window channels to help the glass slide more smoothly. I enjoy your videos, thanks.
@ surprisingly not. Do a test on one of the bits you cut off. Maybe the materials are different than what I used in my beetle build. That was a great show and I’m glad I got to see you there and your 356. Excellent job.
Dude, awesome work! I still don't get how you raised the wing glass without raising the upper pivot point. Guess I'll sleep on it. LoL. It was also interesting how you can put in the roll-up window glass after the frame was installed. Love the detail. Keep it up. Cheers.
I'm a magician, but I give secrets. The glass is curved as well as the hinge brackets. They slide relative to each other to adjust for the new height. I thought about glass grinding tools but ended up not needing them. Next time you see a 356 you will be cursed to examine the wing windows for missing rubber seals🔮
Thanks for all the details on the assembly as I am about to embark on this. Question though can you say what brand contact cement you used and if you are happy with it? Thanks and keep up the great work and videos
That's affirmative😀. I made the choice to attend the West Coast Holiday for motivation after a long resto. I can pop the front and rear windows out in about an hour. Also the seats slide out in about 10 min. Not worried about it. I didn't want to rush the headliner before the show.
This is both excellent and timely for me as I'm currently restoring the interior and window seals on my Irish green 356C. Thanks for the video!
Oh cool, we have twins!

Never apologize for long content that covers what you want to say. This series is gold. Thanks for doing it!

That brass washer is the pivot bearing , goes to top of the shim stack, nice job.
My car needed more than one apparently. The drivers side isn't as bad.

Really love the detail you go through in your 356 videos. Car is looking amazing. Can't wait for the next one.
Thank you!
Looks awesome Tom
Thx

I'm pleased to hear that you are coming to the LA lit show. Would love to meet up. I may do a small gathering at my place
I always bring with me some good French wine from burgundy 😊 to share with Porsche friends 🚗🚗🚗
My wife loves wine especially, me too.

Thanks! Now I know it's you Will.
I went with Teflon spray. Does the baby powder turn the seals white?

@@GarageTimeAutoResto If i see a 356 out here it will be nothing short of a miracle. LoL
@jeffharrison5265 Now I need to look at the travel assistance network and see if there are any 356'ers in Iowa
Your 336 is looking so clean and awesome tom!
Great color on the interior, Excellent work as usual
Thx
Love this series, what manual are you referencing?
Ron Roland, Jim Kellogg, and Factory workshop manual mostly
Very nice. Is there no foil against water behind the panel?
Not originally, but not a bad idea. I really don't plan on driving this in the rain.

Thanks, I'm very happy with with the Weldwood landau top adhesive in a can. It's hard to get, especially in California.
Ok sounds good thanks for the reply.
I just want to know who's garage you backed into? Because it doesn't look anything like your's.
It is mine, he he. Recently remodeled

Aren’t you way past when you should’ve done headliner.?

For future reference, what you are calling windwings are actually called opening Quarterlights. Windwings are for nautical use on boats
use baby powder
