Hi, nice video. I had purchased this unit the carpod go T3 carplay. Mine didn't come with a manual. I watched your video and some other videos as well showing how to use it and pairing and such. Haha Cheers Gov! 🍻 Long time listener of the show and you just made my morning with your comment! Thanks for watching and keep up with the great work you’re all doing 🙌🏻
I don’t think so. As it’s just reading a phone as a hard drive of files to play music off. You can’t turn this into a CarPlay system. Your best bet is to look at either aftermarket options that fit your car or buying a screen like this one.
Does this have a sd card slot to play back movies? And how do you get the camera that comes with it to turn on, you have to click it on on the device itself?
There’s no SD card slot. No movie playback on this one. Camera comes with mounting accessories for external mounting. Cable likely needs to be spliced to reverse lamp light cable for it to trigger on the display, as there’s no way to toggle it from the menus.
Thank you for the comprehensive review of the device. The main thing I found missing from the unit is support for iPhone/Android mirroring. Thus other than CarPlay and Android Auto there you cannot mirror the phone screen or make use of Airplay. Please if your get your hands on CarABC D808 please review the same for us as it appears to have the phone mirroring function.
It depends on the size of phone you have. The landscape nature of these screens mean a phone the size of an iPhone max is very close to what the display would mirror onto it. So you might just have a better experience mounting your phone and watching off that than to use a screen like this.
The swipe down for light and dark mode toggle will depend if AA also reacts to light and dark modes when toggled in the car. I’m sure it doesn’t I never tried it in AA.
This one is hands down the best. The only downside is how it handles android auto. if you use it for CarPlay then it’s still the best there is right now
@@CarPlayLifethanks a lot. I would use CarPlay but my partner AA, but quite interchangeably as we often share the driving. Is this device still what you would recommend in that situation?
When playing music on Spotify is the source on the spotify (bottom left) from Carplay or is it the car's bluetooth? Also, does Google Maps announce the navigation direction through the speakers?
Spotify visual source will always come via CarPlay display, if using BT audio method the audio will come via the cars BT audio channel. Meaning you get wheel controls etc. Google maps nav will come via the car BT channel if using BT audio method, otherwise it will come from the screen speaker. All audio basically comes from your chosen audio method. Be it BT, FM radio, aux or internal speaker
Their shipping is horrible, it comes from china via 4px and I am over a month of waiting now, they’ve dispatched a 2nd unit at this point and it seems to also be stalled out in shipping. It goes 4px to get to Chicago then DHL takes it and is supposed to hand it to USPS. But the shipment type they’re using doesn’t allow DHL to know where it is or what truck or warehouse it’s in or anything other than they think they have it
That sucks. I hope it arrives soon. Nothing worse than knowing where a package is. Sometimes 4PX do mention the DHL track number soemwhere that you then use to pickup the trail. Good luck with it all. It will be worth the wait.
Really nice review! I'm impressed by the CarPod Go T3 Pro's seamless integration into any car, thanks to its quick setup and magnetic mount. The wireless CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity are game-changers, providing convenience without the clutter of wires. Plus, the crisp display quality really elevates the in-car experience.
Would this be able too play back up camera display all the time? Like replace my mirror and use it as an "Digital back view" if u catch my drift. My car has a poor too almost no view through the back glass. I'm considering buying a digital "mirror" that views the back of the car with dashcam recording as bonus. I'm aware this this hasnt dashcam. But being able too use this as my digital back view + entertainment/navigation would be amazing.
I think you need to trigger the camera with a spliced cable to your reverse power cable, meaning it won’t display unless your car is in reverse. There’s also no button on the menu to trigger the camera feed so that confirms it really.
Eonon P4 seems to offer a little better as complete system, bigger screen, brighter, and has dash cam? That been said I like the boot up, size, magnetic connection, I'd say buy the one the fits you the best..... Great video thou
Thanks John. I’m sure the P4 is a great display if it’s anything like the P3 I reviewed. But the T3 Pro display is likely going to be much better and its size isn’t that far off the P4. I wouldn’t to mount anything much bigger than this size tbh. I hope to review the P4 soon so I can compare it then.
Does it have multi-touch capability? That's my biggest pet peeve with my current unit. By multi-touch I mean like on maps, can you pinch and expand your fingers to zoom in and out on a map?
You could but I hear you can trick a Tesla into running CarPlay through its browser app and a plugin device. It would be running via Android but it’s a way to use its main display than using a second display just for CarPlay. Less wires too.
My wife leaves the power cable connected in on this display in her car and has had no battery problems. It all depends on the car and if the 12v powers itself off after the car has been locked up.
I believe Dual BT is for connecting and reconnecting to phone for CP/AA pairing and to phone for audio transmission to the car stereo. This display doesn’t connect directly to the car over BT for its audio. Some displays do but car BT is so widely non universal that makers adopt BT audio via the phone to car stereo instead
The Dual Bluetooth is one connection to your phone for displaying Apple CarPlay or Android Auto (technically it’s just screen mirroring from your phone and adapting to the Carpod screen resolution with touch screen availability) and the other Bluetooth connection made is from your phone to the car directly or any car adapter.
I don’t see why would couldn’t. But it needs a wire spliced in to work so it is not always on for dash cam use. There’s no recording for the camera just live view.
Yes it can as it’s basically your phone connecting to the BT client, that can be vehicle of anything else your phone can connect to. Such as a BT speaker
If you’re operating CarPlay or Android auto from that phone, it will use the phone app on that platform for calling not your car stereo. IMO a better experience.
I’ve not seen better yet. But yes it could be 4K camera front or back, something decent using Sony Starvis sensor, usb media playback, integrated aux output in the power cable, wireless power through the magnetic mount. This doesn’t exist yet
@@CarPlayLife Other than the magnetic mount, I don't see this being different than anything else on the market. Does it run Linux or full blown Android?
@@CarPlayLife A double bacon Angus beef burger at Hardees is better than a cheeseburger at McDonalds too. How is this better than displays at the same price point? Other than the magnet, what am I missing? Does it have a better chipset, more memory, better sound, better brightness, or what else?
I would say its main initial USP is its laminated display. Nearly all other displays I’ve reviewed aren’t laminated. So the display screen sits much deeper under the glass. So from certain angles the display in CP/AA appears cut off. Alongside this is its general aesthetics. If this is important then this display can’t be beaten on its looks. Both externally and software. Its magnetic mounting system is another value add for those wishing to unhook the display and take away or stow the display away from being visible for security. Also, its simple mount is well designed and isn’t just one of the many off the shelf designs that all other brands use. Although this comes with the same windscreen mount too, but it fell of the dash on my wife’s car. She now uses the simple version and hasn’t come off since. Next is the menu system. Again another aesthetic USP because all others use 1-3 off the shelf Linux software. They have written something that’s quick to use, and looks great! Part of this could be enhanced with a better CPU and RAM, but without knowing the internal specs of all displays I can’t really compare them. Alongside its performance of its own interface, there’s the 60fps performing connection to wireless CP/AA. It’s night and day compared to other displays who just feel laggy and slow in comparison. Sound wise they all sound much the same with some offering very poor FM performance. I didn’t have issues with FM on this display as much as I have done on a few others. AUX is the same as any, and BT connection is pretty solid also if that’s an option. The addition of the bundled BT to FM receiver is a nice value add too. The one area against it is its price. With many displays coming in any half its price or cheaper. So it comes down to the saying ‘you get what you pay for’ and understanding what factors you want from a display. If you can get by with a $80-100 display then so be it. But if speed, display quality, performance and aesthetics is important to you, then I have yet to see a product that can beat this display right now. Think of it like buying a budget random brand TV vs buying a Sony. Sure, both achieve the same thing, but the extra $ does offer a better performance and overall experience. Hope this helps.
I notice this review mentions Android Auto being a not great experience. Have you tested any of these devices that work well with Android Auto? I have an older vehicle from 2008 and would much rather get something like this than go through all the work of installing an entirely new stereo in the vehicle but only use Android.
They are all similar. I would think this is the best I’ve personally experienced. Thanks to its higher resolution display and its lamination just looks much better than cheaper options where the display looks more sunk behind the glass, which at certain angles makes the display look cut off. Android auto on this really varies on the connected device. If you have a Google pixel or Samsung it should render good enough. Many suffer with the slightly squashed display ratio of the stream. Clearing Android auto cache might also help with how AA renders on the display. I forgot to do this when switching Android devices in the video.
The worst thing about the lamto is the annoying blue menu that is on the side.. it should be hidden. It would be much nicer to get full screen on your apps, like full screen map
Yes you can using their supplied cable. They mean if you use a different usb 12v adapter that might not supply a suitable power or you could fry your 12v usb adapter or even the display/cable if it doesn’t have the correct current for it.
For me yes. But only because I am not used to it. I have a reference around the centre part of the dash where I know I’m getting too close to the kerb or object when parking. Putting a screen there disrupts that focal point. This becomes less of a problem as it just means I’d have to just create a new point of reference. So it’s just the initial getting used to it. This is made more acceptable with displays like this one which is more horizontal 16:9 screen than a taller 4:3 screen ratio. Hope this helps
Great review! Would be nice if you've followed up with a long term review. Also surprised you didn't go into how sturdy the mounts are when the vehicle is on motion. I had a unit similar to this before but it was like everything else, Android-based crap. Hopefully the Linux OS is more robust and steady. My biggest complaints were the random disconnects, tinny sound even with AUX and the lack of an auto dimmer. Lastly, nice discount with the your code but kinda hesitant to buy without the Amazon refund policy. It's only 14 days direct vs 30 for Amazon. And you pay for the return shipping. Thanks for the review though!
Long term use videos are a bit tricky as my car has CarPlay and I have no need for a display like this. However, my wife’s car needs them and she has this in her car currently (since this review date) and it’s been performing great still. She tells me that the only thing that’s occurred is the windscreen mount has given up and fell off, but we used it to stick to the dash, not to the glass windscreen that it is really best used for. And it may have lost wireless connection once so far, but she might be thinking of an earlier screen 🤷🏻♂️ other than this it’s been working great. Since the mount issue I have replaced it with the smaller one I used in this video and it hasn’t come off since and that’s been a few months now. This screen is miles better than any other I’ve reviewed. I know what you mean about Android based crap. They can be very clunky and personally I can’t really fault or better it right now. So unless it arrives broken I can’t see you sending it back. Hope this helps.
@@CarPlayLife I want to install on windshield and it's little bit a far. I just need remote for volume and next track. If it's possible to use buttons on my bluetooth device?
I see. If you’re using BT audio your wheel controls should work. You bc a test this with your phone connected to the stereo over BT. If that works, it will usually work once connected to the display. Volume can also be controlled on the stereo and prev/next track if you have those buttons also.
All it needs is a 12v socket to power it and a way to get its audio to your car stereo. All stereos will have FM, if it has AUX or Bluetooth then that’s even better.
Sorry no. One question for their support team. Might be just a marketing spin and the device is the same, Or small minor upgrades or accessories that come with it.
One suggestion: Do a rehearsal walkthrough and take notes before recording the final video. You have a good sound and look and pacing... but when you use words like "possibly" and "maybe" or other uncertain words to describe things it makes it seem like you don't really know much about the unit. Then when you're 'exploring' the unit, finding new 'features' (like the time you were trying to find the volume control but instead accidentally stumbled upon the day/night mode switch) it demonstrates that you don't know much more than the average viewer who has read the marketing bullet points about this product. It's not a good look. Viewers want confidence (especially when your goal is to get them to click on affiliate links to purchase the product). Just my $0.02. I wouldn't have commented if I didn't like your video overall and just wanted to offer suggestions for improvement... so please don't take it to be a negative post.
Thanks for the feedback David. All taken onboard. Many videos have been more first impressions and demoing the use of the product as we discover its features together. I go a little deeper in my written articles after I’ve spent more time with them post video edits etc. Appreciate the feedback and I’ll take this all onboard. Thanks for watching 🙏🏻☺️
I don’t think they do as all they do is connect to your phone for wireless CP/AA so they aren’t running apps that need GPS themselves. The only benefit would be to use its own than the phone if it’s in a back pocket or bag during wireless connection but I do not think they have them to keep costs down.
Thanks for this excellent review - that was definitely the one I was looking for. I wonder why microphone from your iPhone was used once testing "display-only" Bluetooth option (during call) or I missed smth. On their page I can see the following: "[...] This mode supports the original car's BT [...] and allows calls using the original car's microphone. The experience is just like connecting your phone to car's Bluetooth on a regular basis." Besides, I like the on/off option in the charger, because my car doesn't cut off power when you switch the ignition to off. I feel 90% convinced to buy it soon :-).
It might be because in my golf I can tell it to use BT connection with phone for music audio and/or calling. It is separate and I might have had it set to just audio.
It’s totally different to a wireless dongle. It’s using an Android/linux layer so you have to compare it more with AI boxes than much simpler wireless dongles that do it all on chip than through an OS. You also have to factor in system start up time. Displays will likely start up faster than a car system will, allowing a connection to CP to be overall faster.
@@CarPlayLife As the product manager at Carpodo, I fully agree with your understanding of our product. In fact, the reason we haven't included a front dash cam feature is not due to technical constraints or costs; incorporating such a camera would only cost about ten dollars. However, 99% of our users do not need this feature, nor have they requested it. This is evident in our product reviews and user communities like Reddit. Our users have high expectations for each feature, which is why we consistently focus on subtracting non-essential features and enhancing the core functionality. The center console is not a suitable angle for recording video and has significant blind spots. Even basic functions like 24-hour continuous recording are not feasible. All our optimizations and improvements in detail experience come from user suggestions and feedback. Based on user needs, we chose a multi-core Linux system chip that is about to be released by the original car infotainment manufacturers, which is suitable for use in vehicle systems. This isn't just about integrating a chip suitable for dash cams into the CarPlay functionality. The chip is designed for car infotainment systems, improving CarPlay fluidity by 100%, increasing boot-up connection speed by 50%, and enhancing CarPlay's experience in hundreds of ways. If one's demands for electronic product performance are not high, choosing a product that meets their own needs is the best choice.
This for those that don’t want to do such a complex dashboard install. It sounds like you’re not in that demographic if you’re willing to favour a proper install, which is of course way better than a portable display.
@Ahmed-Ali21 lmao it's virtually impossible to put a "10 inch portrait display" (vertical mounted) if not designed for it. Go Google any car interior and see, are you gonna cut out the HVAC and radio controls or the center console? Think before you make these ridiculous statements.
@@CarPlayLife emailed the company direct and they won't charge any import charges but there is a delay in getting the laminated screens produced, so taking another 10 days extra, I guess they coming from China not US anyway in this case.
If you would have watched any of this 29 minute review you would have seen this isn’t remotely close to all that other junk on Amazon. This is a true serious device that really outperforms many Sony and Kenwood, etc DIN units.
Discrete install is always the best way to go but this is for someone who can’t tackle such an install in their car. This is solution is clearly not for you. Good luck with your install.

@anthony Barker (CarPlayLife) does the swipe down gesture on the map apps also work on Android Auto?
The swipe down for light and dark mode toggle will depend if AA also reacts to light and dark modes when toggled in the car. I’m sure it doesn’t I never tried it in AA.
Thanks, Anthony. Have you tested the Carpuride W903 Pro or similar and if so which unit would you most recommend of the lot?
This one is hands down the best. The only downside is how it handles android auto. if you use it for CarPlay then it’s still the best there is right now
@@CarPlayLifethanks a lot. I would use CarPlay but my partner AA, but quite interchangeably as we often share the driving. Is this device still what you would recommend in that situation?
I can’t say how well it performs when switching between CP and AA as often. But if I were to buy a display today this would be top of the list.
I’m guessing the other USBc connection allows for wired CarPlay connection?
Unfortunately, no this USB C is for updating the display firmware only
Really nice review!
Thanks. It’s a fantastic display for CarPlay 👍🏻
U work for them or something ???
CarPlay won’t support multitouch, but Android auto maps should be able to. I’ll need to try and confirm.
How does the rear view camera activate on the screen? Does it come on automatically when you put the car in reverse?
Yes as long as you splice the rear camera cable into the reverse light cable
Would you purchase one of these for the new Tesla Model 3 2024, purely for the CarPlay features? Thank you!
You could but I hear you can trick a Tesla into running CarPlay through its browser app and a plugin device. It would be running via Android but it’s a way to use its main display than using a second display just for CarPlay. Less wires too.
Is the best option for apple carplay? I want to use my car Bluetooth / stereo for all the
Music and calls
It’s the best display option right now.
What company does stand behind this product? Is it China, or?
I believe American owned, but like your phone, china parts.
Most everything's made in China if not China parts
Indeed
I’d love a display this size and aspect ratio ties to a 1DIN or 2DIN head unit.
Something like a floating display from alpine, pioneer or kenwood
If you end up putting the wire behind the dash you could get a dash cloth cover to hide the remaining visible wire
Nice tip. Thanks for sharing 🙌🏻
Do you have to unplug it every time you turn your car off, will it drain your cars battery if you leave it plugged in while the car is off?
My wife leaves the power cable connected in on this display in her car and has had no battery problems. It all depends on the car and if the 12v powers itself off after the car has been locked up.
but can you screen share to use netflix and such
No screen mirroring on this one. Usually mirroring hasn’t been that great on these adapters
But can’t the display connect to your phone and then to your cars stereo?
Isn’t that what the Dual Bluetooth feature means?
@@mauriciolazo that is one connection. Unless it can display android auto and Apple CarPlay at the same time.
Is it possible to use the camera in front instead of rear?
I don’t see why would couldn’t. But it needs a wire spliced in to work so it is not always on for dash cam use. There’s no recording for the camera just live view.
This was really helpful! Silly question, but would the screen still be visible with sunglasses on?
I think that might depend if the glasses are polarised or not? 🤔
Budy, you did a great job!By the way,if you guys believ in this brand, you should learn this brand find a factory like us.
Thanks for watching. ☺️🙏🏻
I don’t get what you mean exactly. Sorry.
Have you tried to use it with AI Box to be able to play video on it?
No can do. The usb c port is for updating only so there’s no way to connect to the display for media like that.
Is it possible to use a Bluetooth speaker and not the car sound system with this unit?
Yes it can as it’s basically your phone connecting to the BT client, that can be vehicle of anything else your phone can connect to. Such as a BT speaker
Would you still be able to connect the phone to the car stereo for calls?
If you’re operating CarPlay or Android auto from that phone, it will use the phone app on that platform for calling not your car stereo. IMO a better experience.
What's the new benchmark? Does it have a front camera? Does it play music or video from a USB? It has a magnetic mount? and what else?
I’ve not seen better yet. But yes it could be 4K camera front or back, something decent using Sony Starvis sensor, usb media playback, integrated aux output in the power cable, wireless power through the magnetic mount.
This doesn’t exist yet
@@CarPlayLife Other than the magnetic mount, I don't see this being different than anything else on the market. Does it run Linux or full blown Android?
It is much better than some of the lower quality displays selling for much cheaper. You really can’t compare it IMO
@@CarPlayLife Thank you for answering! I do thankfully use Pixel devices so it sounds like I should actually have an okay experience.
The worst thing about the lamto is the annoying blue menu that is on the side.. it should be hidden.
It would be much nicer to get full screen on your apps, like full screen map
I thought theirs an option for fullscreen CP/AA in the settings area of the display?
I read the manual and it says “do not supply power with 12v sources” does that mean I can’t plug it in my 12 volt cigarette lighter
Yes you can using their supplied cable. They mean if you use a different usb 12v adapter that might not supply a suitable power or you could fry your 12v usb adapter or even the display/cable if it doesn’t have the correct current for it.
Do you ever find that impeding your vision any when looking down towards the road? Say something close to the bumper.
@@CarPlayLife It absolutely does, cheers.
@@CarPlayLife Thank you for the quick response!
What about remote control?
It’s a touchscreen. So I don’t see a need for using one with this display in the car. It doesn’t have remote ability. Most displays won’t do either.
@@CarPlayLife Thank you!
I need a similar thing but with a powe bank attached
You could try connecting its usb c power to a power bank. But you’ll need a beefy power bank as I’m sure the display will chew through its battery
Sweet piece of tech 👌🏼
Sure is!
Did you say it has a camera?
Yup it comes with a rear view cam 1080p I think and a ton of cable to get it to the back discretely.
My car has a parrot system. Will this connect to that ?
All it needs is a 12v socket to power it and a way to get its audio to your car stereo. All stereos will have FM, if it has AUX or Bluetooth then that’s even better.
Anyone know the difference between 2023 version and 2024? Version
Sorry no. One question for their support team. Might be just a marketing spin and the device is the same,
Or small minor upgrades or accessories that come with it.
Great thorough Review!
Thank you 🙏🏻☺️
One suggestion: Do a rehearsal walkthrough and take notes before recording the final video.
The same company makes all of these, the interface is the same. Slight differences but same
Where is this info please?
The shake from your camera pointing at the desk made this very difficult to watch
Sorry. Might have been a little excited on this one 😆
does anybody know there manufacturer?
Only know they are assembled in china 🤷🏻♂️ sorry
Very good review.
Thank you, and thanks for watching 🙏🏻😊
the problem is my car have the audio input by usb type-c. not by aux 🤷
Could you get a usb to 3.5mm audio converter? For something that fancy, surely you have BT audio?
Any of these have gps
The experience is just like connecting your phone to car's Bluetooth on a regular basis."
Besides, I like the on/off option in the charger, because my car doesn't cut off power when you switch the ignition to off. I feel 90% convinced to buy it soon :-).
It might be because in my golf I can tell it to use BT connection with phone for music audio and/or calling. It is separate and I might have had it set to just audio.
@@CarPlayLifeI've just bought one and I provided your coupon code. I hope that you'll have get benefit from that.
Hope so 🤞🏻. Thanks very much.
Thanks
Thanks for watching 🙏🏻☺️
That’s pretty slow to connect to CarPlay. My system connects in about 8 seconds wirelessly with a dongle.
Nah! I rather buy Carpurride and Eonon coz they have a better dash and rear cameras installed. Imo. 💪♥️
This display doesn’t have either so these are not a great comparison. Maybe so once they release a display with camera support. 🤞🏻
Thanks for sharing. ☺️
it is not bad but it is not good. Thx
It’s the Goldilocks of CarPlay displays then ☺️
No Dash Cam... big flaw, shocking.
…For those that need one.
For 249$ I would rather install 10 inch portrait display in my car dashboard instead of this
This for those that don’t want to do such a complex dashboard install. It sounds like you’re not in that demographic if you’re willing to favour a proper install, which is of course way better than a portable display.
Or for people who don’t have a that option. like on my pilot
This is good if you have no double din slot
There’s something to be said for being locked in to an ecosystem while driving so you aren’t distracted.
@Ahmed-Ali21 lmao it's virtually impossible to put a "10 inch portrait display" (vertical mounted) if not designed for it. Go Google any car interior and see, are you gonna cut out the HVAC and radio controls or the center console? Think before you make these ridiculous statements.
it doesn't have a Backup camera So meh
1:17 yes it does
To UK from Amazon us £300 no way
That is a bit steep for any portable display. But it is a good one.
@@CarPlayLife emailed the company direct and they won't charge any import charges but there is a delay in getting the laminated screens produced, so taking another 10 days extra, I guess they coming from China not US anyway in this case.
That’s very likely.
I don’t think it’s steep at all.
Not worth it, you can get the same crap for 60% off without the mag mount.
The difference is this isn’t crap though 😂
If you would have watched any of this 29 minute review you would have seen this isn’t remotely close to all that other junk on Amazon. This is a true serious device that really outperforms many Sony and Kenwood, etc DIN units.
Android compatibility looks shite.
Yeah it doesn’t look like it’s projecting the correct resolution. A simple software update should fix this
£249 when I can buy either a Linux or Android CCC unit for my bmw. No thanks pal. I hope you got those free 😂😂😂
Discrete install is always the best way to go but this is for someone who can’t tackle such an install in their car. This is solution is clearly not for you. Good luck with your install.
