I did very well with this yesterday which is why I'm here. Pulled in some big rainbows. This was the last fly I resorted to on my 9 mile float and it immediately started producing. Wish I realized that during the first 7 miles of the trip. Going to wrap my hook shank with lead wire to get it into those deep pockets on my whitewater rivers.

THIS IS MY FAVORITE FLY!!! I'm so glad you've made a video of it! this is my go-to fly for salmon, brook trout, brown trout and sea-run brookies and browns when nothing else is working. for smaller stocked fish I'll tie it on a much smaller hook with a bright orange bead head. gold and silver are the most productive colors for me and in the waters i fish.

If you've never used Kreinik, you should give it a shot. It is really a unique flash material. Thanks for sharing Chuck's amazing pattern. This fly has a hilarious variation where Chuck used a cone head instead of dumbbell eyes, because a one fly tournament banned the use of dumbbell eyes due to the kreelex being so effective. The conehead variant won that tournament as well.

Kreinik and polar flash are nearly identical

You know if you have a hot glass of water almost boiling and you stick your fly in it it’ll automatically relaxes fibers so the top wing can be styled i back against the hook shank and if you’re hanging by the eye of the hook the fly will shape itself. When it dries. A little trick I learned from Isaac newton and his theory on gravity.

Nice simple easy tie. I use something similar in the Delta. Didn't know it was a fly till now. 👍

Who makes that cool purple vise?

If you add the TINIEST bit of superglue to the wraps underneath the dumbell eyes BEFORE you tie on the eyes, it will make for a better bond and less crap in the "over-tie" (the stuff between the hook shank and the fly materials)

Surprised you didn't get a nasty comment from the same guy who yelled at me and told me my video wasn't a Kreelex because I used a slightly different material on mine and trimmed it raggedy on purpose.

If you taper your ends, thank you.
The Kreelex is a great fly. One that can be made even better by giving it a kiss of a profile.
