It's because many people got tendency to confuse Romanian with Roms/Roms (gypsy). It is because of lack information, people are just narrow minded. Romanian people got their country, history, culture, they are usually beautiful, good qualified, well educated, hard working.
Yet, this is actually very accurate. People around the world don't see us as we actually are- nice, intelligent, hospitable, and know close to nothing about our culture, history, traditions. But they see us as thiefs, because that's what gypsy families did when they invaded Europe in the '90s, declaring they're Romanians. And now they chose the name " rromas",not gypsies. So close to ,,romanians" ,right?
I am Portuguese and I can understand some Romanian by listening to the language. It does sound like Portuguese mixed in with French and Italian a lot of times. Although it is harder for me to comprehend it well due to the Slavic influences in the languages. Most of the time I do understand Romanian. :)
@@User98272-ue That is because we are still part of the same Latin language family. Did you know that even Portuguese from Europe can sound like Romanian? Our pronunciation is quite similar to each other which may cause the other Latin languages of Spanish, French, and Italian having a harder time to understand our languages . Maybe the complex phonology with our both languages may cause the other Latin languages finding it difficult to understand us. That is for sure a mystery between Romanian and Portuguese! Even the words between Portuguese and Romanian have the same words in Latin. We definitely can communicate with each other in our languages if we speak slowly. Unless there are no Slavic, Turkish, or Russian influences that may cause for a Portuguese speaking person not to understand. And for Portuguese, we have some Germanic and Arabic influences that may have changed our language as well. Everyone gets confused with Portuguese and Spanish due to it being so close to each other and we sound so similar too. Portuguese is the older twin brother of Spanish by 400 years! However, we are always known as "Spanish" when we are not! Yes, we share the same Peninsula, but two different languages and cultures. Actually, Romanian can sound so much like Portuguese more than Spanish! I am not kidding neither! Also, I get asked, "Why does Portuguese sound so much like Russian?" WOW!!! They explain to me the history and culture and explain how they were descendants of the ancient romans. And they did not fail to mention that they believe in the Lord Jesus christ.
Romanian was originally HEAVILY influenced by the Slavic languages which is why people even think we’re speaking Russian or Polish or whatever. But somewhere in the 17th or 18th century Romania decided to adopt Latin and languages that include Latin words. Most notably, French words
Let me introduce you to Brazil, same thing. Most Americans I've met are convinced that we speak Spanish and live in a forest. Besides from one girl, she actually thought that Brasil was in Russia somehow :')
I am Portuguese speaking from Portuguese parents. I don’t know what it is but everyone thinks because Portugal is just a strip off of Spain, we are Spanish and speak the same language! Actually the Portuguese are the intelligent ones! We can understand 100 percent our other Latin languages quicker and accurately in Spanish, French, and Italian!!! Sorry to offend any of my Latin Speaking twin brother language, but I don’t know what is the problem that most Spanish don’t want to assimilate with other Latin languages! They don’t want to make the effort of understanding anyone! I can not believe they say “ I don’t understand any Portuguese!” I look at them as if they were dumb!!!! Most of the time , 90% Portuguese is their twin brother language, speaking the same words but with a different accent!!! Portuguese is another Latin language that nobody can understand that! It will not always be Spanish but it will venture out to Italian, French, and believe it or not, so much in common with Romanian!!!! I don’t know if you ever been to Portugal, but our European Portuguese accent does sound so much like Romanian!!! Quite incredible ❤!!! 😂 This is why it is harder for the other Latin languages of Spanish, French, and Italian to understand us completely! However, I admire Romanians because they are extremely intelligent ❤! I love Romanians!!! They will go out of their way to help our other Latin language family, to understand them ! Quite incredible, beautiful, and interesting the Romanian language!!! It does have a lot of power among the other Latin languages of Portuguese, Spanish, French, snd Italian!

omg, i couldn't believe my ears when you said 'romanian' bc it's not a country that is noticed on yt shorts or on tiktok. i am verry happy that i finally saw content like this on my page
I've been to transilvania, It was so beautiful seeing so many hungarians. Truly an astounding place 10/10 would recommend visiting

man that is so true. I am a romanian and when i speaked with an american he ran away.
And you suprised? Romanians do everything out of interest
The romanian stole this guys brain cells😂
Americans would never know what a Slavic country is. You’re either Irish, Russian or “of color” in America
“Just don’t steal anything from me” got me 🤣🙄🤣🙄🤣🙄🤣🙄
To my Romanian Latin family, if you can read and understand this Portuguese phrase that these words can only exist between Portuguese and Romanian, you will definitely know we are Latins! LOL
(Limba Portugheza): Em minha casa, o meu cu fromoso doi tanto! HAHAHHAAHA!
You’re not wrong. People think we are all Gypsies.
I hate that everyone thinks that we steal that much. Beacuse everyone thinks we're like that, sometimes I get embaressd of my own country.
da, si eu sincer
I’m just curious, like some of the romanians say there is stealing in the country and some approve of the joke ,
I did some research and I’ve realized it is actually very inappropriate and insensitive to say this to romanians .
But how some of you guys are actually very chill about these insults ??? Like whaa I know it js a joke but it is really inappropriate and normally such jokes could cause real racism and shouldn’t be taken this delicately 💀
Also just to make sure , is there any conflict between russians and romanians ?
@@user-rv9jm4vx8ubro just don't assume everyone is automatically okay with such "jokes". Just like in US you will always find token POCs and pickmes who claim they don't have a problem with slurs, you will find romanians who claim theyre chill with it. It doesn't mean thats our general sentiment.
Please don’t be embarrassed by dumb and ignorant people! Everyone in every culture has criminals! Just stupid people always want to demean a culture because they love the “bad.” I am Portuguese and I have the upmost respect for Romanians! ❤❤❤ I love them because believe it or not, I still can understand some Romanian! 😂🥰♥️🇵🇹🇷🇴 quite incredible and I value their intelligence! I have learned so much Romanian because as a Latin language speaker in the same family pool, I can sometimes understood Romanian! A very interesting and beautiful language!!! I try my best to learn Romanian and I can get it! 😂😂😂❤ it sounds so much like European Portuguese! Astonishing and amazing really!
Portuguese: Eu amo 🥰 a minha família Romana !
Romanian: Eu iubesc familia mea Romană ! ❤

As an American, I adore the Romanian language and culture! Just so beautiful!
What people from other countries say in order to keep up a conversation with me when they find out I am form Romania: O, yes, yes, I know Romania.... Soooo, Dracula, right? Also, how many times have u been robbed?
I can relate but the opposite! I am Portuguese and everyone asks me, "Isn't Portuguese a Spanish language?" Nope a different Romance language in the family of Spanish, Romanian, French, and Italian. OK.........HERE WE GO AGAIN !!! LOL
For me it's "Oh so you're from Transylvania? That's a film, silly! Do you drink blood?" Firstly, no Transylvania isn't a film you mistook it for hotel Transylvania and second I don't drink blood 😭😭😭
I got a bunch of Romanian friends online, My favorite thing about them, is how homemade wine is a big thing for both of us, don’t know if that’s how it is for every Romanian though
It's not. I'm Romanian and I don't make or drink any alcohol.
Im a romanian and im proud of my roots
Love u video so much and im from romania
You know how I know this never happens? Because most Americans have probably never heard of Romania…
Yeah and when they find out what Moldova is
Not true I’m American and know Romania so do most people when we think of Romania we think of Count Dracula and Transylvania
😂😂😂
I met a couple of Romanian Brothers once. Some of the coolest dudes I've ever met. Very nice respectful and actually know how to hold a genuine conversation. They explain to me the history and culture and explain how they were descendants of the ancient romans. And they did not fail to mention that they believe in the Lord Jesus christ.

Lol they would just think "Where is that country again??"
as a Romanian. True 100%. Pfft-
My Romanian voice:AAAAAHHHH
România hai cu țuică!!!
"just don't steal anything from me" 💀🤣🤣
Romanian was originally HEAVILY influenced by the Slavic languages which is why people even think we’re speaking Russian or Polish or whatever. But somewhere in the 17th or 18th century Romania decided to adopt Latin and languages that include Latin words. Most notably, French words
Yeaa people always mistook me for being Polish when I wasn't
Transnistrean....sinonim cu meltean.. Rusul știe mai bine ce este cu latina😊😂

Sad is this is note joke...they steal everything in job and they saing other peoples do it...they dont have shame
Wait until he meets a Moldovan
lol yeah 🇲🇩
@@eileencampos5680 Coincidentally I'm half Brazilian and half Romanian! I do agree that it can be quite similar! I'm currently living in Italy too, and although it can be a little tricky sometimes, since it's also a Latin language it's not that hard to understand. Same to French and other Latin languages!
@@Nike_707 It gets better that when you learn a language, you know what to expect from the other one. So you start adapting to it as well.

@@User98272-ue Romanian also has a mixture of all Latin languages in Portuguese, Spanish, French, Italian, and Romanian. I can understand some Romanian. Not all the time but I am getting there and loving to learn the language.
All the Latin languages in Portuguese, Spanish, French, Italian, and Romanian have each others language mixed in and then some of the words will go into English. I know when an English word is Latin.
