It's great to see you guys having fun catching cats. My fishing partner and I do the same thing you guys do nearly every weekend except we almost exclusively use cut bait and fish them on the bottom. I like the idea of slip bobbers and drifting the bait. I'll give that shot.
Great job Bill and Mike!! Really enjoy the videos keep them coming. Float fishing for big cats is one of my favourite types of fishing by far, lots of fun.
thanks Steve , i know theyre just average compared to monster blues you get but they do pull hard - you'll have to come up some day -you'd probably set the new state record.
Cut bait is for the trophies. Chicken liver is for numbers. Also when it comes to cut bait you want to use the bait right from the same waters as the catfish. It's time consuming but worth it when the catfishing is at the peak. I don't live in WNY anymore but have fished the Catt for 20 years. Horndese creek chubs (with the red cheeks and horns) are the ticket my friend. Suckers like you have are last resort for me. Generally up until the cottonwoods cut bait produces 10+ fish and every single one is over 30inches. When the cottonwoods start flying and the creek hits 78+ degrees the spawn starts and you will catch a bunch of small ones. The best catfishing I had is when the water is on the rise and is between 66-70 degrees. I love watching your videos as I have fished all those spots several times. The biggest catfish I have ever caught out of the Catt was 40in, I have a nice photo of it.
thanks man , thats what i heard cut bait for big fish but we caught some real nice ones on liver over the years - we got the chubs there and they did have the little horns but not red cheeks - i'll have to try them again - i usually find the spawn to start 3rd week in june most years but never checked the water temps
cut bait from same waters is always the best bait in western Massachusetts. eels, cut up work great. stay on your hook all night.I use the head cut just under the side fins.leaves most of the guts still intact and it will wiggle and move for along time.
Nice big cats guys ! Don't get any hernia's lifting those pigs up ! I caught a 35 pounder a few years back here north of Phoenix. I thought I had hooked the loch ness monster ! " LOL "
Excellent video as always! Got me pumped for tomorrow, I'm finally going to get down to the cat to fish for them this year! I'll be bank fishing though so I'll be happy with just a couple. My favorite bait is shrimp but I haven't really experimented much with catfish baits since I don't get to fish for them very often, my biggest catfish was actually on a live bluegill of all things, it was about the size of the catfish Bill caught in this video (32" and supper fat).
Good video u guys! Cut bait does work good for big cats. But u chicken liver works good too for big cats. You guys have caught some biggins with chicken liver. Keep the videos coming.
The areas around here livers youll catch fish all day/night but max out around 3 pounders start using live shad/blue gill or cut bait and you start catching 2-70pounders
Awesome video. About an hour ago I was thinking what would work best chicken liver or cut bait, because we might go there tomorrow and then I saw this new upload. Perfect timing. That big one you caught was nice. He had a good fight in him
nice, bro ! I was just thinking about this last week, usually I can get creek chubs every day out of that creek by my house. smaller pieces and chubs will work for perchin also! I wish we could fish again man! we're praying & trying to make it there for the 4'th (my wife love's it there @ Niawanda )! if we do I'll definitely let you know! keep the great (longer )videos coming bro I love em! tight line's &wet nets! 👍👍✌
I like to take a tub of livers for my main rod, and use small rod to catch bait to cut up for my second main rod. If there's no baitfish to catch the cats there aren't looking for cut bait
I just found your channel and I thought I was already subscribed to your channel. Thanks for sharing this great video with us. Keep up the great fun/work. God Bless America 🇺🇸
Chicken liver was by far the best catfish bait I've ever used but I won't touch it with bare hands because that stink just stays on you and everything it touches for years. Had to wait for the skin on my hands to die and was still smelling it a year later. So I'd rather use cut bait but chicken liver guarantees cats no matter the conditions, time or area. They smell that shit and come a runnin lol!
We saw you guys paddle by and fish under the first trestle for a few. Me and my nephew were under the south side of the bridge. Had one on while you guys were under the bridge but he broke off. Slow day for us..............the wind chased us away after about an hour.
Hard to say how far we chuck out as its dark out. Im givin it my all with an 8' Rod..... 3/4oz. dropshot rig and nice supple nanofil line. If i had to guess, id say we were punchin it out there, maybe 50 yds? Total guess though
Just ran into your channel and it’s a good video and to be honest I never used chicken liver I never had any luck with it... i had better luck using hot dogs 😂 but I like to use cut bait or live bait such as shad,, blue gills,, carp and I even used a drum before and it work 😂but every one has their own choice of bait anyways i love fishing so I’m subscribing now
I have used chicken livers my whole life. I've never caught a flat head on them. If you want channel cats chicken livers are the best! This year I'm really wanting to catch a big flat head. I've been using live and cut bluegills. It's a lot less action, but I hope it will pay off with a 50 pounder. I can't even find chicken livers right now because of coronavirus
Now that you mention it channels do seem to love the chicken livers. It's just so nasty I do t like to use it cause the smell stays on your hands and gear forever.
I heard scaling it works good too, I'll try scaling and salting. If someone asks what's the best I say chicken livers but it's soooo nasty smelling and that's why I think k they love it so much and will move a long ways to get it.
Are you tying your own chicken liver sacks or purchasing them tied? I would be interested in how you make your liver sacks. As always, I enjoy your videos. We do not have giant channels in Montana but the bigger fish are caught on big pieces of cut bait.
I've been out the last couple weekends and have had better luck in there with crawlers over livers!! I also marked what I thought was a smallmouth suspended higher in the water, threw a spinnerbait and caught a cat on that!! Lol

@@BillMikesAnglingAdventures ....I have caught cats up to 12 lbs on livers...without a boat in Oklahoma...or access to private property..it is hard to catch the bigger fish. For me...5-7lbs is a good fish around my parts....yes..it is a good sized one. The biggest of my life was about 29lbs....a blue cat...it was fun
Channel cats like livers and stink bait... Blue cats like cutbait and flatheads like live bluegill or shad...👍
yes for blues and flathead your right but stink baits dont work so good for me - fresh livers and bait fish for channels
I caught channels on worms, panfish, shad internals, shrimp and manufactured baits

We use 3 to 6 inch live Gold fish about a foot off bottom, All catfish love them, especially flatheads. Wife caught a 37 pound Flathead two weeks ago
😁👍
Bro.. chicken liver ..👍👍... I alway used it with catfish and it's work like a champ...

The key to cut bait is to scale it first
i never heard that before
I'll have to try that, thanks...
Good tip I'll have to try it.

Night crawlers produce the most down here in KY. You all should give them a shot. Put 2 or 3 on a hook in a big ball. Nice fish btw.

Well done Lads, a good days fishing! very different to what I'm used to but very interesting🎣👍🍻

The only thing I find that works better than chicken liver is bluegill heads and suckers are the best bait for cats hands down
Live bluegill slays em
The Best for sure. The bigger the head the bigger the fish

Yeah don't forget it in your car, smells like a Dead body... perfect for someone you don't like like an ex wife or something 🙄
What time is prime time for fishing for catfish?is night fishing any good?
day and night are both good - if your bank fishing night would probably be best but daytime is good if you can work a lot of water with the floats
use them chubbs live.. or bluegill, pumpkinseeds etc. what we use in wv.. shad tho is where it's at.. catfish crack
" that's a beast ". My thoughts on my wedding day
Did you hold 'er up for a photo?

Chubs work good too but I usually cut there gills to make them bleed and let them die on there own

Welcome!!
It really depends on what cut bait you use, and how fresh you keep it. I would not use the same bait, for more than 30 minutes.
What rods do you guys use length also.
we were using ugly stiks med heavy action 7' and 8.5'
Thanks for responding, I just bought a med/heavy 6.6 ugly stick. Looking forward to trying it. Good videos guy I am a new subscriberer now.
thanks man - good luck
By salted I mean he add a genourous amount of table salt night before fishing to the cutbait
sounds good

Looks like fun Y’all need a scale. Your estimations are way off.
thanks , my scale fell in the water and sank but i weighed quite a few over the years
What hooks do you use?
we mostly use size 1 and 1/0 octopus hooks with the float rigs
Are you tying your own chicken liver sacks or purchasing them tied? I would be interested in how you make your liver sacks. As always, I enjoy your videos. We do not have giant channels in Montana but the bigger fish are caught on big pieces of cut bait.

Do the bobber have a stopper? Or they just go all the way up? Without stopping?
I caught 15 bullheads trying to catch a channel with liver...how do you keep the bullhead off the liver??
you cant

Exactly....Bullheads are Flathead bait.
You cut his horns off & put a hook in his back
cut bait sorry for the spelling I have small keybord.
That’s my favorite spot
