Good job buddy on the fish .but I will say those fish are just to selfish for not telling the world to hit that subscribe and like button!! Can't wait for more videos brother
sorry for not commenting yesterday when I watched this video Justin but man it's another awesome video. my favorite part was the two flatheads you caught. all in all as always I enjoyed the entire video. keep them coming. best part of my day is when I get to watch your new videos
Probably works well. Over here in NC that salmon would be too expensive for fish bait! We don't have skipjack in my area either. We do have lots and lots of bluegill/sunfish though.
When I go for eating sized cats here in Indiana, I use chicken breast soaked in either cherry Kool-Aid or stuff called catfish nectar. I’ll find some grain barges and use a little float and cast it right against the barge. Works like a charm every time.
Another great fishing trip Justin! Really interesting one today with the baits. I've never fished with chicken and we don't have Skipjack in SC. I will have to try that chicken in my waters and see what happens. Great job today brother keep the good stuff coming! 👍🏻
Catfishing where I fish is weird. I hardly ever catch anything on cut bait, it'll sit out there for hours with no action. Chicken works pretty good, but hotdogs? That's magic. A cheap $0.88 pack of hotdogs is a day of fun.
@@271yaks Don't do hotdogs if you're casting. They're pretty soft and tend to fly off easily. You can manage it if you chill them, that firms them up a little, and use a gentle cast. If you're on a boat and just dropping it down though? Go for it.
I got to agree with that scenario, I'm going to use cut skip Jack, cut shad cut bluegill or even fish with them live to get my bigger catfish. I've taken the challenge of chicken liver and chicken while I did catch a quantity on both I got the bigger ones on chicken liver. It helps if you put the chicken or the chicken liver and cheesecloth sacks then put them on the hook. That was still an awesome video Justin I definitely enjoy seeing somebody catch the big ones when I can't, you're a damn good fisherman and me and my family enjoy your videos, catch a gollywhopper for all of us
I did a similar experiment with shad. I did a double rig with shad and chicken on the same line. I used 6/0 on shad and 3/0 hook on chicken. Chicken got far more fish but shad had all the better fish. I use chicken mostly for taking the grandkids out now.
Justin, I understand your reluctance to downsize your main hook for chicken. Would it be worth tipping that stinger fly with a small piece of chicken? Or would that only run you out of chicken sooner? In any case, another good video! 👍
Always stick around to the end last 2 took me a day or two to finish cause I’m doing some fishing of my own for a bass tournament online but great video as always
In the winter months I always have chicken on a couple of my rods alongside mostly cut bait. Almost every year I catch my biggest blue in January or February on chicken. When the water warms up I stop using chicken because in the warmer months it’s pretty consistently a dink bait where I’m fishing.
Great video Justin I am Going fishing tomorrow at a local reservoir fed by 2 rivers..it is a bass lake..but it has shad. And I know it has to have big channels..going to fish a 60ft spot..with live and cut bait..🤟😎
Well I fish in central Kansas, I used live bait , minnows, bluegill, green sunfish, crayfish, leopard frogs, also use goldfish too the challenge with leopard frogs and live bait Justin.
I subscribed to your channel about a week ago and I’m really enjoying your content! You’re the man buddy… I wish I could swap that Tennessee hat for an Alabama hat but you know I reckon we can still be friends… Lmao just messing with you… Tennessee is looking good this year! We drift the tail waters of the chickamauga dam with chicken breast… Basically as soon as you see or feel a little bit of tension on your rod they have it in their mouth so just go ahead and ease into em and they’ll hook themselves… I know what you mean about the flatheads though. They’ll play with it forever before they commit to it…
I've tried the chicken breast before and I didn't care for it for the same reason and you said you mainly catch small ones if they don't strip your hook. But like always I enjoyed your video TY
Looked like another good day for u Justin. I hate using chicken unless I am using treble hooks. Holds the chicken better. Thanks for taking me along brother….
No skipjack here in east TX. So shad and bluegill. Ive seen you use live bluegill have you ever had luck on cut bluegill? They seem go bleed out to quick.
Lots of good fish. I wonder how South Carolina cats feel about chicken.. Chicken liver works but it comes off the hook too. I live near lake Keowee and lake Hartwell
Try tying the chicken on the hook with some line. I catch multiple fish on the same bait all the time doing that. Great video, really enjoy your channel.
I have had the same results with chicken breast and cut bait. Get a lot of bites on chicken breast but my bigger fish come on cut baits. Another awesome video
great video, nice fish.as long you're having fun it great. yes going to smaller hooks, would help the hookups on the chichen.but you would starting catching your beloved channels lol. stay safe.
Perfect video for my ? Why do you think flatheads take the bait down easy and slow and the blues just crush it? I’ve always wondered that and I’m wanting to hear your 2 cents on it!
Are you anchored in this video, and if so do you just use one anchor. Since you real up off the bottom a little bit it doesn't matter that your moving around some.
thats how they r in ky too the longer they play with it the more chance u got to catch em i love flatties bout as much as u do bubby lol keep on keepin on an God bless the family
Hey Justin you’re talking about the chicken breast coming off pretty easy off the hook. I was wondering have you ever tried using chicken thighs. They seem to have a little bit more firmness to Them. But I live in Arizona I’ve never even heard of using chicken breast. Let me know OK.
You weren't skunked and that's always a good thing. 👍 I've been wanting to try something out on catfish but I'm not sure whether it would work or not. What do you think about using plain cod liver oil on chicken or whatever? Not sure if anyone has ever tried it. Do you think it would work?
@@KayakCatfish What if you left it to soak overnight or maybe even a dough bait? I'm really thinking about trying it. Here in my area, small town south central Pennsylvania, most people use chicken livers and the other usual stuff. I was just thinking outside of the box. I'm going to try it out I guess. Never know. Good luck on your next outing and I'll be watching. 👍
vid idea; a topo map of any general midwest reservoir where you believe nice blue/ flats would be located in each season of the year. That would be really helpful. Maybe you already have one? thx
Fishing with Colonel Sanders. Well.......it does work though. I do think you need to spray those baits with some Gas X . LOL Thanks for sharing Justin!!
I know there won't be a catfish idea you have not heard but I am going to give a tip that I used with chicken and liver for years that worked great. You simply take a piece of women's panty hose and wrap the bait with it and wrap a rubber band or crazy glue at the top to make a small sack covering the bait and hook. The taste and smell go right through the thin panty hose and you will keep your bait on the hook. More fish and less lost bait. You can also grind up your cut bait and make it into a ball wrapped in the hose and get better scent dissemination into the water. Have you ever tried the panty hose secret? Your hook will go right through the hose on the hookset and they never feel the hook when holding the bait.
I do use chicken but I put some cooking oil on it and minced garlic then soak at least over night before using. I have caught some really nice fish. It is messy and smells to high heaven. I catch fish when nobody else around me are catching fish.
@@KayakCatfish oh ok you had mentioned in your live a couple of days ago that you might be at Nickajack on Friday so was just wondering. We live near Tim’s Ford Lake but go fish Nickajack quite a bit.

IMO that first his was a monster Flathead. He sucked up the bait and the line/weight pulled it out of his mouth. IMO chicken is good for cats you want to clean and cook size.

2018 was my best year I fought a 20.5 lb blue cat and if you happened to look me up on FB keep scrolling it's in between middle, you might have to do it slow
My dad used chicken as bait if he didn't have any cut baits and he would always soak the chicken in salt water over night to tuffen up the chicken so it doesn't fall apart + most fish like catfish like the taste of salt and catch cats a lot, but his best bait was chicken livers ...
6/5 cut bait wins. I only use chicken if I'm grocery fish. I use a Mustad 2/0 liver hook with safety pin. Keeps that bait pinned downed to the hook a little longer. Most of the other times I'm going with cut baits.

When you can''t get skipjack try a chunk of skin-on salmon from the store. It works for me here in central Missouri.

Stopped another video soon as I got the notification of this video your by far my favorite you tuber to watch justin thanks stay safe out there
Love the videos buddy. Interesting concept of chicken vs skipjack. I’d be interested to see how skip compares to gizzard shad.
That skinny fun size you got when you moved sure was a pretty blue. Glad to see you had so much action though that had to be a fun time

The stinger fly hook size would definitely be more appropriate for chicken
