    Really enjoyed watching this adventure Mr Wild Wales. I have to chuckle at some of your words and expressions. I found myself repeating them around the house. "I'm shattered. That's bonkers. I woke up really perky." LOL! Love it! What an epic trip with such Incredible footage of the beautiful Scotland.

    love the quip about keeping something out / in (fences) a delightful place to visit/stay. So where is your 4 legged friend this time? - midgee's galore & no insect repellant?? Wonderful exploration of the the Hillsides & Loch's, encountering cows & I found your tale of a poor guy getting trampled, so sad, there is a moral somewhere in that tale. Having buildings available to stay is definite a Plus for travellers. Nice big & clean. You Saying, 'down there where I came from' my dear father-in-law would say hubby's dad & I love the accent. Beautiful, ancient & foreboding place & so inviting at the same time, Rocks suspended in time, magical place, so happy to have joned you on this helluva trip and thank you for the invite. Travel well n safe. Cheers Memorable song: 'Speed Bonnie Boat LIke a Bird on a wing, onward the Sailors cry,

    • @MrWildWales

      Poppy would have loved to come on this hike with me but she couldn't come on the plane. I used lots of insect spray but they just seemed to ignore it most of the time! The buildings are called bothies there is quite a lot of them around but they are mostly very basic huts. The one in Camasunary is quite a new build I think.
      Glad you enjoyed the trip I'm happy I videoed it so that I can watch it back myself to remember it 👌

    Hi Adam. Found your channel from watching Gez`s last video. Watched your kit loadout video for this trip, went to watch this one then saw how long it was. First thing my brain said was, ffs thats a long video. But here I am one hour and 20 minutes later, absolutely loved it. Just a quick selfie before I die.... 😂 Looks like you had an amazing adventure, I am heading to Skye in March for the first time, this video has made me even more excited than I was before.
    Only downside of finding your channel, is that I now have a ton of new videos to watch, I am never going to get anything done!

    Great thing about Scotland is wild camping is completely legal, no being asked to move on like you would in some spots in the Gower.
    Also 8:34 I've got that stove, from a cheap camping pan set from Amazon.

    What do you do for water? Are there some natural sources that you consider unsafe to use? How exactly do you treat and filter it? Planning on doing this Trail before but have only ever done thru hikes that pass often enough through places with clean water that's available.

    • @MrWildWales
      @MrWildWales  ปีที่แล้ว

      I wouldn't say the water is any less fresh in Skye than anywhere else. I treated it myself with chlorine tabs or boiled 🤟

    Great video! And thank you for sharing. What time of the year was this? Just starting to plan a trip for next June mostly by train and by foot around Scotland (coming from the US), hoping to save money by mostly camping, occasionally staying in hostels or even a bed-and-breakfast here and there. Would love to avoid the midges, but will have to go when I have time to go, which is mid June.
    Also, Is it possible to take a train from Glasgow to the Isle of Skye, or would I need to stop before the Isle of Skye and get a ride by car the rest of the way? I would imagine you have to go onto the island by car. Just don’t want to have to rent a car because we want to just be able to backpack to wherever we want to stop each time and then hitch a ride back to the train station or wherever we got dropped off after getting a ride from the nearest train station. :-) but if needs be, I’ll just rent a car and do backpacking loops back to the car each time. Thanks for any help or advice you can give me on this! Fellow TH-cam hikers are usually the best helpers!

    • @MrWildWales
      @MrWildWales  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi there thanks for watching this was hiked in August. I think midges are unavoidable there just make sure you've got some sprays and mesh to hide behind! The train you need to take gets you as far as Kyle of Lochalsh which is just over the bridge to Skye. There are buses to take you onto the island and they circulate it pretty often you won't need a car. The hotels tend to be pretty expensive so camping is definitely preferred (and allowed) trying to stay away from the main tourist areas.

      @@MrWildWales Thank you for responding, it means so much to me that you took a little time to describe the transportation situation to me. It’s been a long time (2010) since I had to plan international transportation, but I’m so looking forward to seeing Scotland again, the land of my ancestors. It’s good news that we won’t need a car, perhaps we will be able to do what I hoped, and just take trains and buses everywhere and then walk from stations to anywhere else we want to go. Camping and hostels all the way! Thanks again for the info and the great video, subscribing to your channel!
