Thanks for showing and explaining the basic organization tools behind this. Looking forward to going back through the videos before this one. Have questions about the construction/engineering: Since each slab is floating free inside the room, is this supposed to represent compacted earth under each slab section, or are you thinking you'd put a ledge under the slab perimeter in each room? Not yet very familiar with how the intersection tool works, but hopefully there's also a way to tell it you want to subtract from the tops of the walls and keep a continuous slab across the floor plane. Is there something in the selection order which tells it which component to subtract from? Thanks for the vid. Nice grid structure early on. Love the select and extend similar items.
Thanks brother, it would be interesting to see how you would add the columns to this. i's the first video i'm seeing for you so ill go and start from the first one you post regarding projects.
Thanks too, for watching! I hope you learning something man. I've decided to end 3D modeling for this project at episode 10. Of course we could go further to do columns and other structural elements, but I will be doing those in 2D for the remainder of this project. Maybe in a future video I will do columns, and column footing.
@@TDVision_U was wondering the same about the columns because in Trinidad our standard must have columns. Our max standard spacing is 15' c/c anything above requires an engineer. I would have a lot of questions as I am next to AutoCAD and the construction field. Also in Trinidad we have a 4" slab between the foundation blocks and the external 10' wall.
I am just seeing this comment. You're correct. Some people place the concrete slab between the sub and superstructure. In Jamaica we build the walls out of the ground all the way up. You're also correct about the columns. Hopefully, I will be adding stiffeners in this building in a future video.
Thanks so much, your videos' are the best on TH-cam. Someone could start a new career with them. You make it so simple! Do you take donations? in this world, nothing is free!
Tip. If you want to avoid a Grid, just set up a control point in your template at an monument such as a building corner. Also, you can copy any construct and move the level up or down and delete the information you don't need. Learned this stuff from " Mastering Autocad Architecture" book.
Good Day thanks for this series. Is there any reason why the slab is not placed on top of the block wall? or is this method practical to the software or your personal preference. Thanks Much!
Building the walls straight up from the foundation to the height of level 1, is one method we use in Jamaica. But the slab can also be placed on the top of the foundation walls.
Excellent videos and very well paced! Thank you for sharing your knowledge. I have a question, how can I adjust the footings on a monolithic slab? I'm trying to extend the lateral footing to be thicker.
Thanks man! I'm glad you like. If I'm understanding your question, you would like to change the width of the footing? It's pretty similar to what we did in this video at 13:52 (th-cam.com/video/omwB1ZyDqHA/w-d-xo.html). In the Edit Style dialogue, select Components tab, then in the Width column, change the value from "BW" to whatever you want it to be (example 18"). Make sure that the Edge Offset column = Width/2., then select OK. I hope this was helpful.
@@TDVision_U Thanks. I was using Concrete Slab on grade with turn down footing which was the closest to creating a monolithic slab but I still couldn't edit the inner edges to a 45 degree angle instead of the 90 degree (square cut). Is there any way to edit the inside of the edges?
You could possibly use wall sweeps to do that. Technically the way I did the foundation in this video is by using the Wall Object to create the footing. The Wall Sweep command should be able to give you that effect. I've never done a video on wall sweeps so you will have to do some research.
Hi Edward!! Thank you so much! I learned a lot from you! I have one question: is there a way to avoid the door threshold being subtracted when subtracting all the walls on the floor slab? otherwise, I would have to manually add all the threshold.. Just wondering if there is a better way to do it? Thanks!
Thanks too for watching! I've never done foundations with vent before. That's not something we normally do in Jamaica where I am from, but I could take a look into it though.
@@TDVision_U is is called crawl space in California didn't find it as a block and was trying to create it and easy in autocad but not in autocad architecture.
I am learning something now. Nice.. 🤔 I think it's possible. Maybe, model it using the extrusion command, manually place it on the wall, then use the wall interference/hole/body modifier tool. Let me know if it worked.
@@TDVision_U I guess am working with older version and didn't seem to find what you suggested but looking for it helped me solve problem. Picked dealings wall/R klk/insert/opening/drag to desired and adjusted size on its property. Thank you again.
Edward, I would think the footing should be 4 feet down at foundation level with the floor slab at ground level. Thought we would shift it downwards by 4 foot

This series is very informative. One of the best tutorial series that I have found. Great work!!
Vey informative video-keep it coming
Wow , this is great and interesting.....learning never ends, God bless you sir
Thank you! Happy you're enjoying it. God bless you too!
intresting episode
Many thanks for your videos!
Yasser
thank you too.
Thank you! the best I have seen, you are very good at hitting the points that make a difference! I will spread the word!
Thank man. Appreciate it.
My first time on this channel, very informative. Looking forward to the rest in this series.
Thanks man.
very educative. thanks Sir
Thanks for this tutorials man. You are saving my life right now 😂
Good job sir , keep them coming.
... perfect on point tut.
Awesome
had to do this over again.. thanks much. Are you going to do a foundation details video...
Nice one
Always on point with the contents
Thanks bro!
This is good work keep it up. You have helped me much. Thanks.
Glad to hear that!
That's great. Thank you .
Thanks!
Can you make a tutorial on concrete slabs?
great works brother
And Also Thank you
Very nice

That is correct. There is a way to pick what subtracts from what. This design would have compacted earth beneath the slab.
thanks man
The best tutorial I have ever seen on youtube keep up the good work bro, However I just can't find those tools in my version i am using.
Make sure you're using AutoCAD Architecture, which is different from the regular AutoCAD.

Unfortunately there's not. You'll have to manually draw the slab to shape to accommodate the door thresholds.

Sure, it could be done that way as well.
hi boss, why the wall tools and others, are not adding into the design tool ribbon, Although I tried it for few times. kindly guide me... thanks
What if your adding just a 1st floor on top of a Residential building?
I can't turn on a middle wall snap to draw the foundation. What type of snap did you turn on?
I'm not sure if I get what you're asking. Did you make the wall "center justify" in the properties pallet?
@@TDVision_U I figured it out. It wasn't center justify. Thank you very much!

hey how do u fly in 3d perspective view ....
also .. if. we dont have grids how to deaw footing exactly beneath wall cntr snap dont work right ???

hi sir i am trying to Set door in plan so there in 2d plan isnt show the door and and if we go to 3d so there hawe A door
How didi you combine this withe the resst of the house??
Create a view and click on all the constructs. Or if you are working in a separate construct, xref the other constructs.
so how can we sole that
Hello, not sure what's going on. But my footing shows as a flat sheet and there's no height to it. I'm not sure what's going on with it
Why not create a wall style with a foundation component?
You're right, that's one way to do it. It depends on the project you're working on, the foundation type, the construction method, etc.
Pls I'm using AutoCAD 2017 but I can't add a tool from the content browser. Can anyone help me out?

Use mass element.
Autocad not allowing me to click more than one walls at a time idk why
Maybe if you hold down the shift key while clicking, that should work. Not sure.
where is the pdf for the foundation?
why don't you use pasteorig to paste the walls from one drawing to another drawing its easieer
