    I used this video today to diagnose and fix my daughter’s CRV with this EXACT same problem! Video was so informative, and walked me through the process step-by-step. I am a 43 year old woman with no car repair experience. For real, this was my first repair, but my husband isn’t in town and the car was overheating. With bated breath I started the car and turned on the ac, the absolute delight I felt when the new fan started spinning was amazing! Thanks for putting out content to help us regular people, Dave!!!

      @@FamilyFriendlyDIY Hi Dave, I changed the cam seals, belts, water pump, tensioner, timing belt, and broke a bolt along the way 😂
      I still have to change the valve seals because my vehicle smokes after extended idling. I'm not a mechanic so this is all new to me but is a lot of fun.

    11:03 - "let's test it to make sure it works" BEFORE installing into the vehicle. I don't know how many times I have installed parts without testing them - assuming they should work. +10 man points.

    Thank you for this video. I bought a 2007 CRV in India and my mechanic did a coolant flush. Since then the car is overheating when I a/c is turned on. I noticed 1 fan wasn’t working also. Therefore it could be the fan.

    Great video! I had the same problem with the wire on the air conditioning fan I replaced on my 98. The frame simply didn't work. I had to take the new motor out of the new frame and put it in the old frame. It's an easy change over. Just a small detail: you don't have to take out the bottom bolts. The frame is slotted where the bottom bolts go in, so you just have to loosen the bottom bolts and take out the top ones. All the best, Cheers Rick

    In my case its the PFI Sub Relay or (ECU) not energizing the fan relays.

    Two things. No need to remove the lower radiator bolts, just loosen them enough to slide the fan frame out.
    No need to start the engine, just turn key to run position when A/C is switched ON and blower motor is switched ON.
    Nice video overall : )

    What do you think the issue would be if the radiator fan only comes on when the AC is turned on, but will not come on when the vehicle tries to overheat? The coolant temp sensor on the thermostat has been replaced and has continuity when it should.

      Hmmm. The only other thing I can think of if those two things are true is that might a problem with the computer. I hope it’s not. Maybe someone else out there has an idea?

      Try bypass the fan temp switch (supposed to switch ON fan, at 93C), by shorting its connector.

      After reading your comment, Pedro, I checked the oil. Looks like it's burned only half a quart in the last 330 miles. I've got to say it's been really reliable, and I think it rides better, accelerates smoother, and has more power than the Honda Fit we just bought. I prefer driving it over the Fit. I've been getting lots of good suggestions from viewers, and I hope to produce more informative videos soon. Thanks for the comment!

      Check all of the wiring to the fan motors and grounds. You could test the fans to see if the motors work by getting some wire and conecting them directly to battery voltage. Also test the temperature control switch.

      @@mclovinpo my guess would be something wrong with the engine coolant temperature sensor- which you can test … but if it has caused a coolant leak somewhere, that’s usually not good. Usually means something has been warped… like the head gasket.

    • @FamilyFriendlyDIY
      @FamilyFriendlyDIY  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That's a tough one. It sounds like everything is new. Have you tested the engine coolant temperature sensor? It may be causing the gauge to read hot when it's really not. If the engine really is running hot, my only other guess would be there is a clog somewhere, or a buildup of scale that is impeding coolant flow. Has the "overheating" been getting worse gradually? or was it a sudden change?

    • @FamilyFriendlyDIY
      @FamilyFriendlyDIY  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Are both fans actually running? If so, it might just be your thermostat isn’t fully opening. If you haven’t already, I would start by changing that.

    • @FamilyFriendlyDIY

      @@wisetv9132 Since it is only while sitting still and not driving, it is probably fan related. Do both fans come on when you turn the AC on? Both fans should instantly come on when you turn the AC on.
