August 2024. It does seem like her Focus was on the root causes from Guatemala as opposed to the boots on the ground perspective at the southern border. The president's job is to initiate executive orders at the border until an effective border Reform Bill can be passed. The VP can't override the president and initiate executive orders. Trump did a good job of locking that border down with those executive orders such as the "stay in mexico" initiative, but he didn't address the root cause which caused them to still want to come over here.

I don’t think what you said is similar at all. What she was saying by that is that the border itself is not the root cause of the issue, so visiting the border would not change much, just like visiting the European border would not. If you watch the entire thing, she mentioned how the focus should be on fixing the root causes, which are what make people flee countries like Guatemala, to Mexico and then to the border. She is right, it’s a long process but it will be much more effective than just building a wall and not actually focusing on the root causes of the border. Through doing this, they have actually reduced the number of illegal immigration into the country. There is a documentary / article by the New York Times on this. I highly recommend you watch/listen to it!

I am as well. I have always watched both NBC and Fox, since moving to the States, and taught my kids to do the same. I am a Permeant Resident Alien from Scotland, Navy Brat. I've always wanted to get my citizenship, but as a single Mum everything always came up. ie; baseball, soccer, gymnastics, swim team. Now more than ever, I wish I would have put some money aside. God, family country. My Son is at UNT and Navy Vet of 5 years and my Daughter FSU grad living in NYC. At 6;30pm. there was a home cooked meal and we watched Tom Brokaw. The root cause of this problem isn’t in Guatemala or Venezuela, it’s in the White House and the fact that they want these people to flood into our country because they believe they will be future democratic voters.
The wall is needed and Trumps stay in Mexico policy is needed until we have real reform take place.

The U.S. has been around more than 250 years now, plenty of time for any country that wants to follow our model (minus mistakes) can see what they need to do. Guess what, some country will do that someday after we tear ourselves apart from the inside and break down every institution that made us the greatest superpower in the world the last 70 years. I just hope that country is as lenient at their border as we are now, I may want to claim "asylum" to go there someday.
