K1100 92 Galway, Ireland I know you did this 2 years ago but you have saved me a shed load of hassle working out which way the ECU connection arrives from the correct direction- there is no slack!! Who knew!! Got blessed you!
Bonjour. Pas mal de rouille en attente sur ce secteur de batterie! Il faut se munir de la pompe a graisse et de peinture noire ! Salutations d'un amoureux de Bmw KK 1100 LT .
Thank you very, very much! 😊The result of your film is: I will charge this f… battery inside of my Moto, because I just thought about taking it out for winter. Now I’m sure I won’t! 😂😂😂
what a fucking pain to change the battery. even my r1100gs is easier and you have to remove the tank. i also had an issue with my battery not letting the ABS reset. left the radio on and it drained the battery. it wasnt too old and the battery (AGM) took a charge and started the bike fine. sitting the battery put off 12.8v... rode the thing for 100 miles still couldnt reset the ABS. finally tried a different battery tender and let it sit for 2 days. sure enough that little extra power did it. i reset the abs for the 20th time and the light went out.
It doesnt help if you are using the wrong capacity Battery! That generation requires the 30 ah battery. The reason is that that generation of ABS can draw excessive amperage during a high speed or successive operation / ABS activation that can reduce the battery power below specification to properly operate the ABS actuators. When the battery voltage drops due to multiple or extended ABS operation, the ABS computer power supplies in the ABS module cannot maintain the power delivery to the actuators when voltage drops. So current increases and can over whelm the ABS power supplies and cause ABS error messages or ABS computer power supply failures. Failure are more likely to happen because these units are 30 years old and the power supplies are already weakened with age, all power amplifiers weaken with age. The 30 amp hour battery helps ensure the voltage does not drop to cause an increase of current in the system. This generation of ABS systems require owners to keep the 30 amp battery properly charged or replace as needed. Do not substitute a 25 or a 19 AH capacity battery as shown in this video.

thanks for that, nigel
Nice job explaining all the little things that tend to drive you crazy...until you learn them. Thanks!
Thank you sir. it was the little thing in your video that made this easy.

GREAT VIDEO!!! Thank you I’ll be doing this one soon
Thank you for showing us. And explaining everything
no problem
