- Highlights of a three week circumnavigation of Ireland with my biking buddy Martin.
To say we had good luck with the weather is a huge understatement, and the scenery was certainly a match for western Scotland at times. Add to that great roads with little traffic, and it's a winner!

Lovely video.I have lived in Ireland all of my 68 years and I,v been a biker for 52 of those years,there is not many roads here I have not traveled and will continue to travel as long as my health allows..Thank you for posting..

Hi, I don’t have the GPX, but in a nutshell we went from Dublin and stayed at: Wexford, Cork, Killarney, Dingle, Galway, Westport, Rossnowlagh, Dunfanaghy, Portrush, Belfast, and back to Dublin. You’ll love it! Thanks for your comment 👍

Fabulous video and very helpful to me.
I’m planning a very similar trip in May on my Classic 350 Royal Enfield. Could easily do it on one of my bigger bikes but think that little machine will be just perfect for exploring those fantastic roads.

Beautiful video , as someone who has lived in N.I. for 61 years you won the lottery with the weather. LOL. Many thanks for showing the Causeway Coast Road in N.I. so many bikers go straight to WAW and miss this lovely route, it's our "cat & fiddle" run on a sunday.

Probably the best video footage of a tour of Ireland I've seen !! The weather obviously played a big part - you were so lucky. The music was quite good too. I live in Dublin and our bike group (CRRG) is blessed to have roads like that and stunning scenery every Saturday when we go for a group spin all around Ireland (weather permitting, of course!!!). Motorists tend to use the motorways so many of the old national and regional roads can be fairly traffic free and most of the surfaces are quite good.

@@1962jpg Hi Paul. I told my brother (also a biker) about this video and he was amazed too. He really enjoyed it. You captured a good few places which we have ridden to. Pity that you missed out on Galway/Connemara which is my favourite county as it is so barren and unique but maybe you just couldn't fit it all into the trip? Maybe next year........ ;-)

Scenery amazing - you got lucky with the weather. Not a fan of the music, but I could watch with the sound down, so that's ok. One pernickety thing - it's not Northern and Southern Ireland. It's Northern Ireland the Republic of Ireland.

Hi, Just wondering whether you have gpx files for your route? We are Aussies, keep a BMW GS in Cork. Think we were on the west coast as you were coming down the east coast. We are returning in April this year. We will be driving up the east coast and the Wicklows on the way to Belfast and the ferry. Really loved your video but have not been able to trace your route on the map. Cheers
Hi, many thanks for your comments.. All we did prior to the trip was to make a list of the places we wanted to visit, book our hotels to accommodate these, then just make up a route that day to take in the P.O.I.s and end up at our next hotel, so unfortunately no gpx routes were pre-planned or retained afterwards... I did list the towns/areas we stayed in, in my response to a previous question....

Paul, this looked an amazing trip and some spectacular roads and views, with stunning scenery. Lovely video and really well put together. Did you plan the route on your satnavs? I was trying to follow on maps etc did you have a GPX file for the trip?

We had a rough route to follow, made up from the various passes and places of interest we wanted to visit, and just put these into our satnavs on a daily basis. So... unfortunately no gpx files for the trip..

Thanks for your comments. We were on the trip for around 3 weeks and apart from a day in Dublin & another in Belfast, we're riding every day.

Great video. You obviously put a lot of thought into your route, taking the road less travelled in most cases and showcasing what a lovely country it is (when the sun shines on it!) I’m not a biker but watching this I sort of wish I was!

Will be going to France probably next year or the year after to ride the Route des Grande Alps, and the Route Napoleon! 😁👍
@@1962jpg Don't worry, I'll go over the video point by point and I'll be able to draw the line. Avoid doing the Alps in July August, too many tourists, bicycles and motorhomes. Switzerland and Austria are also worth it

I’ve been to Ireland 3 times. Car rental. I’ve often thought about shipping my motorcycle over for a 2 week vacation. That is my day dream bucket list.
Yes I do have a bit of jealousy running through my head.

I have a virago 1100 and yamaha ybr 125 but this bike it was always my dream also it's gonna stay in my dream because in this country we have to work for 55 mounth to buy this bike😔

Hi Eddie, thanks firstly for your comments. Someone else below has also asked for GPX / routes, and all I could really offer were the places we stayed at (see my reply..) Not certain what roads we took in many cases, but if you Google the various passes, gaps, towns etc, it'll give you a pretty good idea of our general route. Cheers, Paul

Incredible but true, there are still real Irish people on the isle.
I'm one of those Irish people. We are blessed to have been joined in recent years by beautiful and interesting people from many diverse cultures. Every town and village in our country must accept a quota of immigrants relative to the size of its existing population. This ensures that immigrants are settled in every community across the country and do not form ghettos in cities and large towns like we see in other countries. Here they blend in with the existing population and take on the existing traditions and culture. Their contribution to our nation is positive and enriching and we are honoured that they have decided to settle here. Perhaps your own nation could try it? It might reduce the degree of ugly xenophobia that exists there - you know the kind of xenophobia that can sometimes even be seen popping up in these discussions.👍☘

No route as such unfortunately, we just ‘joined the dots’ between places of interest we wanted to visit, whilst riding clockwise near-ish to the coast for much of the time..
