    No doubt the after market parts makers have a huge boner for the Yeti...all the plastic steering and suspension parts need to be T6 aluminum at the least...sigh. I wonder if Axial owns Vanquish stock? lol

      So true! $650 buggy and Axial can't throw aluminum knuckles and carriers on this bad boy at least? I bought the 1/10th scale kit, there's a few upgrades from the RTR but still put a aluminum steering rack, front suspension and a steel rear drive shaft on it $$$. Does the XL at least come with a steel rear drive shaft? Also, in the video they mention putting a rear sway bar on the XL for control, again aftermarket? Any suggestions for that part anyone (rear sway bar)? Love my Yeti but the XL is next!

    It would not surprise me to see Yetis being converted to Trophy trucks, which I'm going out of limb to predict will be the next big thing in RC and will largely supplant SCTs. But those will go to being Traxxas Rally-style rally cars.

    • @LtZerge
      @LtZerge 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      Something I've always wanted to see. when traxxas came out with original slash, they built it with the HCG to emulate real-life handling and body-roll, but things gradually mutated to become more race oriented than scale oriented. I'd love a scale SC/Trophy off road class with a solid rear axle, nylon rollcage and lexan interior like what's seen with the Axial kits.

    I hope the yeti xl is more reliable than the yeti. Axial dropped the ball on the yeti. I understand the idea of upgrade parts but the yeti needed upgrading just to run the first time. My yeti is finally getting reliable after a complete rebuild and ton of aftermarket parts.

    A 1:1 scale buggy is larger than a crawler. So the 1:10 yeti and 1:8 yeti is acurate

    In what universe is that 1/6th? If it's a 1/8 scale replica of a truck that is genuinely bigger in full scale then it's model counterpart will also be bigger. You can't compare a scaler to a monster truck.

    So Car Action completely forgot about the EXO which is about the same size than the YETI

    • @DocWolph
      @DocWolph 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      True but the EXO was/is a headache and a half that was otherwise just another buggy. The YETI actually brings something maybe not entirely new (The Vaterra KoH came first) but better.

    • @skirmich
      @skirmich 10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Sorry but "Otherwise another buggy"??? The EXO completely broke the mold of buggys and introduced something completely new to the table at the time.. And I shall add that "nightmare" to work is pretty subjective, it still the Fastest Handling RC that Axial has ever made either way. In a track the EXO will easily lap the Yeti/Yeti XL.

    • @DocWolph
      @DocWolph 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      The EXO required 8 screws to bolt down the roll cage and if you had or wanted to anymore than swap the battery, which was a pain in the butt itself, you had to completely unscrew the roll cage our. The buggy couldn't even be run without the roll cage because the suspension with tied up in it.
      There was not a single RC reviewer who actually likes the EXO because it is a headache and a half to work on and it wasn't all that great.
      HPI did roughly the same thing with the Apache C8, but they made the roll cage easily detachable and NOT required to run the buggy, and it was/is a 1/8.
      Broke the mold? All the EXO is a Buggy with a roll cage that was not well thought out and done only for scale looks.
      As for the EXO being faster than the Yeti: If that was any reason to give a damn about the EXO, you can get faster for the same money.
      There are numerous genres and classes of RC across numerous scales and types/styles. Each brings their own requirements and skill set. It's not about flat out speed, but making the best of the format. AXIAL canonized Crawlers, and their schtick is making scale-like trucks with SLAs, including racing trucks.
      The Yeti on the other hand adds to RC, with a new style that is actually new. I still say Thunder Tech, then Vaterra, did it first, but AXIAL is doing it better. A lot like how the Traxxas Slash opened up SCT and their Rally set the definition of what Rally cars in the US will be, and everyone else did basically what they did but did it decidedly better.

    • @skirmich
      @skirmich 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      DocWolph Seems you dislike the EXO by reading or watching the same ignorant people that did the reviews online and not having real experience with it.
      As an early adopter of the Kit (Which was Crap and broke easily) and Current owner of the after recalled Kit with almost 3 years of ownership and working with it I can tell you are just repeating what every lazy reviewer said that didn't own the thing for more than 2 months.
      FYI: The EXO requires 16 screws to remove the Roll Cage.
      A) I can outrun, outpace and lap several SCT with it, In fact there are only a handful of guys in my local track (SDRC) that can keep up with it and they are running MOD Setups way more expensive that what I am running.. So your "Can go faster for same money" is pretty baseless.
      B) After you find you sweet spot in your setup there is absolutely no need to remove the cage at all unless you don't know how to setup RCs or new to the hobby which the EXO wasn't clearly aimed at.. I have run my EXO for months without the need to remove the cage. In fact I remove the cage often just for cleaning purposes and not to tune anything.
      C) The battery thing is still a PITA but you get used to it, no deal breaker unless you really want to swap your battery in less than 10 seconds.
      The Yeti is basically the Official "WREXO".
      The WREXO was a popular mod for the EXO which slapped the front end with the Wraith Solid Axle in the rear (Look for it, its the basis of the Yeti).

      I was excited for the EXO. But I have become indifferent especially since I have learned more about it. Dislike or hate would imply I care enough to have such strong feelings for it.
      Relativistics of the EXO versus Anything Axial has or anyone else renders the EXO less than desirable and hardly something to keep crowing about.
      "WOW! Axial made a buggy with a roll cage!" Well so did a half dozen companies making at least one or two models, not just repaints, each.
      I can not nor would I apologize for your inability to even understand that POV, nevermind agree with it. That you want others to simply cow to the EXO because you think,. somehow, it is "All that", is a point of hubris, ignorance, and flatout arrogance, I really do not subscribe to deliberately anymore. One would think you are just trolling and/or you are actually more ignorant that those whom you want to slap with the label.
      My money is precious to me and I am not going to throw money at an RC that was going to be used for running around and having fun only to have it end up a shelf queen or on Ebay because the thing is a pain in the butt to work on. That is, unless I specifically bought it to be a shelf queen.
      So, despite your ranting and carrying on, which I did not read, because frankly THIS is my last spurt of caring on the subject, I really do not think much of the EXO. If I "hate" anything about the EXO is mindless fanboys of the thing who want everyone to love what they love or they 1) hate it and 2) must be stupid. I personally hate people like that more than the thing they want to claim I hate to give them permission to hate on me.
      I honestly though AXIAL would have released a revised EXO, an "EXO2" as it were, that was easier to work on. But even if they did, AXIAL, which predicated itself on doing really interesting and customizable (i.e. easy to work on) things in RC, burned, sorted, and buried any possible interest I could have in the EXO with the Yeti and YETI XL.
      That is all I'm writing. You still have problem with my position just go back and reread it. I'm not changing anything about it.

      torsion: the twisting of an object due to an applied torque.

    • @gunsandcommissions
      @gunsandcommissions 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If I understand correctly, the yeti has an open front diff and a locked rear diff - it also has a ton of suspension travel and its design is made to allow that suspension to articulate easily
      as such, the laws of physics dictate that, when the rears are getting any kind of bite, the extra torque/ twisting energy that is produced by the motor under hard acceleration and subsequently fed into the drivetrain (that is firmly attached to the chassis), has to act on some part of the vehicle - the motor's energy, when the rears are getting any kind of decent traction, is then applied to the chassis mounted drivetrain - the excess energy overcomes the suspensions stiffness/ability to keep the vehicle "flat" - so the excess energy ends up twisting the chassis and suspension and lifting one of the front tires
      If I owned one, I'd not use it as a crawler, as I see infinitely more fun in running it as a high speed basher/ using it as a desert racing type vehicle- I have a designated crawler and it bores the hell out of me most of the time - the yeti flat out hauls and really handles and jumps well for the way it is designed - and it can throw a serious roost and handle excessively rough terrain at speed - to me, this is what makes it attractive
      That being said, I'd want to open/unlock the rear diff - I'd want to put slightly stiffer springs on it and I wholeheartedly agree with a rear swaybar - these changes would eliminate the chassis twist while also allowing the vehicle to lean less and "slide" more in the turns as opposed to being on the ragged edge of traction flipping when cornering at speed or while traversing and/or turning hard on really soft or high traction surfaces
      Just my $.02! - cheers mates!

      +Brenton Carter if you ad the sway bars this takes a lot of the torsion twist out of it.

    why would you put a sway bar on a rocky terrain vehicle? it would completely destroy the awesome articulation of the yeti xl.
