- With the latest release of the GoPro Hero 11, GoPro introduced Hypersmooth 5.0, which offers a built-in horizontal lock and a wider field of view. So you can really ask, do you even need to spend another $100 on a Max Lens Mod anymore? Let’s find out.

I've gone through 4 Max Lens mods on the previous goPro version. They scratch instantly. On the 5th one I basically spent the entire shoot making sure NOTHING touched it, and somewhere it got scratched. Glad I saw this video, I'm upgrading right now to GoPro11 and never using a damn Max Lens again.
Glad it helped!
"...max lens mod doesn't allow 10 bit color..." should've just started with that bruh lol
Thanks for the feedback!
The video would be TOO SHORT if he mader that disclaimer
Lol that is what made me say "okay yeah forget the max lens"
You also forgot to mention that when using max lens it shoot only in 2.7k
So why to by this stupid lens?
You just saved me $$$ as I thought I’d be improving my GoPro Hero 11 black. Thank you!
Glad we could help!
@@camerazone_ So I should get just the Hero 11 instead of Hero 10 + Lens Max Mod
same here! thanks1
It will be useful for linear mode with horizon leveling
It is, if you need proper stability.
Nah ... First, the SuperView has too much distortion, very limited use for POV shots only, any pan shots look ugly, and the HyperView is even worse. Second, horison lock works only in linear mode, with cropped image, not very useful for POV. Yes there are limits with MLM, the major one is lower resolution, this is tradeoff. But you cannot replace one with another these are different things.
Very well said. The hyperview and the superview produce a distorted image looking like a fisheye. The media mod can only shoot in 2.7k 60 f/s, but it corrects that ugly fisheye images/video.
Thank you. I just saved $100 because of this video. I just bought my first go pro the hero 11 black and I was going to order the lense mod but now I can spend that money on extra batteries and SD cards. Appreciate this video
Glad it helped!
The horizon lock on GP11 is only avalable in Linear field of view. With Max Lens Mod you get horizon lock in all field of views up to SuperView. Resolution is not everything.
thanks for sharing
Just got a hero 11 mini for $199 right before the action 4 release. Very happy with the hero 11 mini for what it is, and what I use it for.
I got the GoPro 11 for $160 off eBay! Thanks for the review
GoPro needs more narrower angle lenses: 35mm equiv, 50mm equiv with big apertures like 1/1.8 or better
With the max lens mod, at least on the Hero 9 , your max recording resolution is 2.7k. NOT 5k as you said.
It'll always be 2.7k with the max mod-9/10/11.
but with gopro 12 max lens mod you can record 5k@@camerazone_
With the max lens mod, at least on the Hero 9 and 10, your max recording resolution is 2.7k.
Yes!
Thank you so much - I am jumping from a Hero 7 to 11 and had seen the Lens Mod and was curious if it might be worth the investment. Thanks again
Glad to hear that!
So why not go for the pro max instead of the hero 11? When the hero only records whats angle it is pointing at while the ProMax records so many more angels around you that you later can choose from
@@sparrowhawk5673 personally if I was looking for a 360 camera. I’d go for the Insta 360 X3. But it’s the size and robustness of the hero camera I was looking for.
Thanks. I almost bought it for the 11
Just turn it on and don't but the lens.
2:07: I want to know what happened! That looked pretty unfortunate.
He survived! That was scripted.
@@camerazone_ scripted ? Lol
Yeah, I got it and it barely does anything for ya.
Thanks for the advice I was in the process of buying a hero 11, good helpful review.
Thanks for watching!
Can anyone explain what's going on at 2:28? What is the accessory and set-up? Why has he seemingly got 2 cameras?
Do you think I need a max lense mod if I’m filming on a motorbike or moped
Great, thanks for the update.
Thanks for the review. Save me 100 usd.
so confusing!
Can you make a video on Bridge camera with Good stabilization, Please 🙏
Noted, thanks.
@@camerazone_ Thanks a lot, hoping for a good bridge camera
Helpful video, thank you 😊
Well this video just saved me $100, thank you for the details
Great to hear!
Hey.. hi David sir, actually I want your help, I others will be also need your help..
My GoPro 11 black is not compitable with adaptor mod external mic, rather it's only connected external mic in media mod. I want to know how it can be completed, when I connected it.. in preference I find media mod with N/A..
PLEASE HELP
thanks!! It really helps me make up my mind
Glad we could help!
But is an option now pushed on the 12?
Good point.
Thinking of trading in with warranty at Best Buy for hero 11 might pay the difference lol
I just discovered cheap and easy MACRO solution for any action camera.
So it's useless thank you 😊 why is it so expensive for an accessory 😅
Do tell me over here ..in comments ...whats lens mod !!!
Max lens mod is an accessory for GoPro Hero cameras. It's main purpose is to create a wider FOV and Horizontal Lock.
You saved me $100 bucks .
