You have to admire Mark’s dedication to this series. He still uploads an episode even when there are no new arrivals lmao. Turns out that this is only the third time in Hot 100 history that it’s happened. The first instance was on January 17th 1998 and the second was on the exact same day in 2009.
Coincidentally Lady Gaga was on both this and the last instance of that occurring and if you don't count the Christmas songs then she could technically be considered at #1 on both charts as well. Also this is the first time there isn't a new #1 song along with no new entries since the last 2 incidences Truly Madly Deeply by Savage Garden and Just Dance hit #1

@@Oble_Noceda I've not heard the song before but I'm glad that the World Hit segment makes a brief reappearance. Speaking of which, 'Push 2 Start' debuted on the Bubbling Under chart today so hopefully it become another hit for Tyla in the new year.
@@piran1807 oh absolutely agreed! That segment was sorely missed. I think I respect tyla's work after water more than I like it but if this means more positive Afrobeats exposure then I guess I won't complain
‘Santa Tell Me’ and ‘Underneath The Tree’ officially become the first holiday hits released this century to enter the Top 10. Delighted for Kelly and Ariana as both of them are fantastic songs!
Seeing Corrella show up on Billboard Breakdown as a kiwi who thought they'd never get international attention was a truly surreal moment. Seeing them do it with a yacht rock song that I'm pretty sure is about Captain Cook getting killed by natives is even more bizarre
Jokes aside about the abnormality of this week's chart, I wish everybody who reads this a happy and healthy Christmas. Hope the rest of the festive period brings you all joy and peace! ❤
Funny how quiet the Hot 100 is for this week because the Billboard 200 hit a historic mark: Stray Kids' 'HOP' went to #1 on there, which yes, makes them the first act EVER to have their first six albums debut at #1 on that chart! As someone who's only been following their content for a year now, this makes me so happy! 🥳
@@juhaniaho6698 Very good choice with 'Cricket Chirping'. It might be a very late contender for my favourite song of the year! Disappointed that you weren't a fan of 'Awkward Silence' though...
@@piran1807 The thing with awkward silence is that I'm fairly certain somebody farted during the recording and nobody was able to remove it during the mixing and mastering. The sound is very quiet, but it is distracting and breaks the immersion.
Hey, I'm all for it if you ask me. But it goes to show just how worse the billboard charts have become since 1984 so, it's been this way for many years now.
@@marekK27 Yeah, but again, I do think someone mentioned how the billboard charts have not been the same since 1982/1984, but for me I doubt Billboard has been that great since 2014 and before.
I have been watching billboard breakdown since early to mid 2017 and it's been fascinating. I got to watch Mark progress from hating Juice Wrld's music to just being incessantly mad at the label for milking his image and many other things. I still remember when Post Malone was this man's musical arch nemesis and basically every trap song was a near instant lock for worst of the week and DHM.
Funnily enough its been years since this phenomenon has happened even if it does make for quite a boring week ngl And Ive been keeping my peepers on the US Billboard charts since I was 17 years old
Curious what next week would've been like if SZA didn't drop. Was kinda hoping Fairytale of New York would finally debut since Hozier covered it on SNL.
I've been calculating what the Year-End Hot 100 would look like if it were tracked from a January-December period, the proper calendar year, using whatever weekly predictions point data that I can find from predictors online. Here, have a ranking of every Killers Christmas song. Merry Christmas. I could care less. 11. I'll Be Home For Christmas (This isn't even a song.) Now onto the songs that I often feel like returning to. 10. Joel the Lump of Coal (The only time Jimmy Kimmel was tolerable. I also think it perfectly sums up how much I considering the term "catchy" to mean something when this is the catchiest song on the list.) 9. Dirt Sledding 8. ¡Happy Birthday Guadalupe! (Better than Feliz Navidad because this song actually has verses.) 7. A Great Big Sled 6. Boots 5. Joseph, Better You Than Me (This kinda shrunk on me since last year. I should add that while I wouldn't go as far as to call myself an atheist, I'm not a religious person. I don't have anything against it, but it's never been part of my life. I'm neutral on it at best. So I think the fact that this song was this high on the list despite that sums up how good the presentation is.) 4. The Cowboys' Christmas Ball (This kinda grew on me since last year. This also has my favorite music video of the group.) 3. I Feel It In My Bones 2. Don't Shoot Me Santa 1. Christmas In L.A. (My second favorite Christmas song of all time behind Christmas Lights by Coldplay. They didn't need to make a Christmas song this good.) Shame that I got around to listening to half of these songs that matter too late for them to spend a week on my personal chart.

My takes on some of this year's Oscars Best Original Song shortlist entries. -I haven't listened to all of these. I'm gonna wait until the final nominees actually gets announced to do so. -Do I have to listen to The Journey when I update the 2020's Oscar songs ranking? I don't want to. Do I need to find out what happens when an unstoppable force (H.E.R.) meets an immovable object (Diane Warren)? At least we still have Fight For You. -I'm still barely above lukewarm on Marren Morris Wild Robot song. And yet, I'd still be fine with it getting nominated because Marren deserves it after her and her newborn recieved threats after calling someone out for being racist. -Likewise, I haven't listened to Harper and Will Go West, but not matter what, I'll be fine with it being nominated because trans rights. abcdef the Annoying Orange. -What? The Twisters song on the list isn't Ain't No Love in Oklahoma? The Oscars prioritize quality sometimes? -I was originally gonna go on a tangent about how despite Elton John being one of my favorite artists, I'm not a fan of Never Too Late. But then I re-listened to the song and it grew on me. It's sweet. I'm Gonna Love Me Again was the last time the Oscars gave the award to the best song of the year. -I'm glad to see Forbidden Road here. I mean, at the end of the day, it's a really simple song about following a path. As someone who's done with these types of Oscars songs, I shouldn't care about this. And yet, the song is actually pretty charming and likable. It's the best use of these cliches. And I'm glad Robbie borrowed an idea from his Struts friends and had a crowd chant. -I've seen it show up in a few prediction lists, and I still chuckled when I saw Piece By Piece on the list. And yet it's still a justified choice. It's sad how it might be one of the better songs on the list. I might be disappointed if it doesn't make the final cut. So I wrote a lot of stuff. Because of that, I'm splitting this comment into two parts. Second part is in the replies. I talk about the best movie song of the year in the reply.
-Can we all agree that Mufasa Song and Moana 2 Song are the two biggest waste of space in the shortlist? -ClawMachinefromISawtheTVGlowdidn'tmaketheshortlistwhatthefuckthatsongiseasilythebestmoviesongoftheyearandmilesbetterthanany2020'sOscarnominatedsongtheygaveabestoriginalsongwintoasongwithakindaawfullastminuteearlierthisdecadetheygaveashortlistentrytoasongfromthatCinderellamoviewithJamesCordenbuttheydidn'tgiveashortlistentrytoClawMachinebutgaveonetoamoviethatwasoriginallysupposedtobeashowinstead. Then again, I'm not actually surprised it wasn't in the list. Claw Machine is a beautiful work of art. Of course movie award shows aren't gonna acknowledge it. Shame considering how Claw Machine is a Song, but movie awards shows don't care about quality music. -El Mal is a fine I guess choice for the current frontrunner for winning the award. It's better visually in the movie than as a song, but it's kinda cool sounding. It's a better choice than Mi Camino. -I once found an article about the shortlist songs where their examples of snubbed songs didn't include Claw Machine, but instead Ain't No Love in Oklahoma, a Mean Girls remake song, an Ed Sheeran song, a Miley Cyrus song, and a fucking Joker 2 song. Who told that person they can have thoughts? Can't wait to see which four of the fourteen will get nominated. Maybe the year after next year will be the first year this decade they give the award to the best movie song of the year.

rio da yung og wouldve charted, with a debut of #2 on the bubbling under if it wasnt for christmas music. Why dont they just make a no christmas music chart???
This doesn't have anything to do with this week's chart. But I want to go back to something I said a year ago on this channel. The last time I made one of those comments of every number one song and movie pairing of the year, the next one is next week, I said "let's find out what songs get paired with The Garfield Movie, Despicable Me 4, Sonic 3, and other meme movies." To be honest, despite saying that, I didn't really expect Sonic 3 to go to number one. Hate to say, but I expected Mufasa to take that spot instead. Don't wrong, I would've preferred Sonic 3 too. But here's the thing. Yes, I get that Sonic is one of the most iconic video game characters of all time. But it's still a movie from a film franchise that made $400,000,000 at most against a prequel to the at the time highest grossing animated film of all time that was already a remake of a strong contender for the most iconic animated film of all time. It seemed more likely that gullible parents were gonna go with the lesser option. I was originally gonna say "at least Mufasa could trojan horse current kids into being into a great movie." But unlike other scenarios where that seemed possible like the Tom and Jerry or the 2016 Ghostbusters, what parents introduce their kids to the remakes before the original Disney classics? But no, Sonic 3 actually ended up making almost twice as much as Mufasa did. Truly the underdog story of the year. Then again, we've all seen those memes of how the Sonic movies seem to end a franchise that had a movie around the same time. With the second one, they also had the help of a different movie with a fox in it to beat transphobia. Barbenheimer wishes it could be The Unbearable Weight of The Bad Northman. I should add that I like how I said that last year, like I didn't know what song was gonna get paired with it. At least it's better than what the other two meme movies got besides A Bar Song. Just like how I haven't actually Sonic 3 yet, but I still know it was a better movie than the other two. That film was truly the last piece of fun before everything goes to Hell. Give me my Crash Bandicoot movie.
Guess which song didn’t go number 1 (part 1/2): A. Chamillionaire - Ridin (ft. Krayzie Bone) B. Gotye - Somebody That I Used To Know (ft. Kimbra) C. PSY - Gangnam Style D. Vanilla Ice - Ice Ice Baby
I was actually talking to a Kiwi friend of mine after listening to the song Cookie, I thought it was very very funny so I showed it to him. He also thought it was very funny but pointed out a historical pov that I hadn't considered. The song is about Captain James Cook, a British explorer and imperialist during the 18th century, particularly around his death. Which while making the song a lot darker, also makes it a bit goofier, especially with how they take a threatening and violent figure in NZ history and de-fang him by referring to him as "cookie".

Headlock by Imogen Heap (=) 14. Run Rudolph Run by Mark Ambor (New) (Another Spotify holiday single where you wouldn't expect it to be covered by the lead artist, but we'll see if either this or #20 can break through next week for the peak of holiday activity.) 15. Bigger Houses by Dan + Shay (+1) 16. Push 2 Start by Tyla (New) (I know there is an audience that wants this to be huge, especially as her chance to follow up Water's success, but if it doesn't start picking up traction on streaming, in America I should clarify, then it won't get very far.) 17. Make It To The Morning by PARTYNEXTDOOR (-2) 18. Beanie by Chezile (New) (I was wondering when this would show up here given I've been seeing it on Spotify charts for a while.) 19. Don't Mind If I Do by Riley Green ft. Ella Langley (Re-Entry) (It seems like whoever is Riley Green's singles can't capitalize on good timing for radio pushes given the sales for this track are clearly speaking from the general public. For the record, Worst Way is only now getting pushed as his next single to country radio.) 20. Holiday Road by Kesha (New) (I bet nobody expected this holiday tune to get covered, let alone by Kesha of all people.) 21. House Again by Hudson Westbrook (+3) 22. I think Christmas officially broke Billboard's system this week. Hilarious, and I don't know whether to be relieved or disappointed. Next week, I'm not sure HOW big the SZA album bomb will be, but it is also the last week for holiday music, and for this week, I'm going to rank songs on the Bubbling Under chart for the best and worst. Let me know what you guys think of the songs over there. BOTW: Push 2 Start - Can we stop using the "industry plant" term for Tyla, please? Afrobeats has been a popular genre for a couple years now, and you're not using the term on people like Burna Boy, Wizkid, Tems, Rema, or plenty others in the vein. Anyway, really good song, would not mind at all if this crosses over, especially as someone who loves "Water". HM: Little Things - This spot was tough, but I've been getting into Ella Mai's material quite a bit lately, especially love the "Mustard on da beat, ho" line being deep in the intro, cracks me up all the time. Can we let both top songs chart in 2025? Please? DM: Rosones (Fuerza Regida version) - Honestly, I can see why Peso Pluma kicked Fuerza Regida off of his cousin's song. Tito Double P at least has a personality. Also, who the hell is this Jorsshh guy? And why is his name like that? WOTW: Rio Free - I think the popularity of Sexyy Red is going to be bringing back rappers who can barely stay on beat and when they do, they sound sloppy as hell. And this was the biggest debut on the Bubbling Under, really? Anyways, Merry Christmas y'all!

Funny how quiet the Hot 100 is for this week because the Billboard 200 hit a historic mark: Stray Kids' 'HOP' went to #1 on there, which yes, makes them the first act EVER to have their first six albums debut at #1 on that chart! I have been watching billboard breakdown since early to mid 2017 and it's been fascinating. Here, have a ranking of every Killers Christmas song. Merry Christmas. I could care less.
11. I'll Be Home For Christmas (This isn't even a song.)
Now onto the songs that I often feel like returning to.
10. Joel the Lump of Coal (The only time Jimmy Kimmel was tolerable. I also think it perfectly sums up how much I considering the term "catchy" to mean something when this is the catchiest song on the list.)
9. Dirt Sledding
8. ¡Happy Birthday Guadalupe! (Better than Feliz Navidad because this song actually has verses.)
7. A Great Big Sled
6. Boots
5. Joseph, Better You Than Me (This kinda shrunk on me since last year. I should add that while I wouldn't go as far as to call myself an atheist, I'm not a religious person. I don't have anything against it, but it's never been part of my life. I'm neutral on it at best. So I think the fact that this song was this high on the list despite that sums up how good the presentation is.)
4. The Cowboys' Christmas Ball (This kinda grew on me since last year. This also has my favorite music video of the group.)
3. I Feel It In My Bones
2. Don't Shoot Me Santa
1. Christmas In L.A. (My second favorite Christmas song of all time behind Christmas Lights by Coldplay. They didn't need to make a Christmas song this good.)
Shame that I got around to listening to half of these songs that matter too late for them to spend a week on my personal chart.
YES, SPREAD THAT COOKIE GOSPEL
What are the chances we get a SZA album bomb next week?

Yep. I knew this would happen eventually.

Never thought I'd see Mark talk about Corrella. Their hit "Blue Eyed Māori" is a vibe.
Man, I was hoping Nadie by Tito Double P would debut this week, but it seems to have barely missed the top 100.
Honestly glad there isn’t. Need a break
Claw
Machine is a beautiful work of art.

When was the last time where the Hot 100 didn’t have no new debuts, I know it happened in 2009 but did it happen after that?
No new debuts? Is this a first?

I was actually talking to a Kiwi friend of mine after listening to the song Cookie, I thought it was very very funny so I showed it to him. He also thought it was very funny but pointed out a historical pov that I hadn't considered. The song is about Captain James Cook, a British explorer and imperialist during the 18th century, particularly around his death. Which while making the song a lot darker, also makes it a bit goofier, especially with how they take a threatening and violent figure in NZ history and de-fang him by referring to him as "cookie".
Ngl you being dedicated to the cookie bit is great.

3. HOODRAT/KING - Ye + Ty dolla sign (i know everyone chose carnival since it was the hit, but i think hoodrat is even more embarrassing for ye, and king is just lyrically worse than carnival IMO)
2. Cry - Benson Boone (no)
1. Bigfoot - Nicki Minaj (10-2 has a closer gap compared to 2-1)
The only disagree is truck bed
miles on it wasn't bad
I would’ve added I Don’t Wanna Wait by David Guetta & One Republic and Think You The Fart by Ice Spice
@@WdjtekryhsgMarshmallow ruins the song
@ShrekTheSecond think you the shit wasn't bad enought to me to make it on this list.
1) Merry Christmas, everybody! This is the shortest episode of Billboard Breakdown I've ever seen. Has Mark ever made an episode *this* short before? 🧑🎄🎄🎁➡️🤔
2) Sabrina Carpenter's "Espresso" and Hozier's "Too Sweet" are about to fall off after 36 weeks and 39 weeks, just shy of each artist's personal record. They had good runs! 🤓
3) The fact that Mark had to cover a goofy song most people have never heard of to compensate for there being *no* new debuts is just funny! 😆
They’re likely to come back when the holiday garbage disappears
3:37 what, you’ve never seen people twerking at hospitals?
Well I have to applaud you for doing this Mark. Still uploading on a weekly basis even with no new debuts.

Interesting choice of future songs.I still wanna give his 3 albums this year further relistens.
I haven't watched this channel in a while but I only watched just for the historic nature of this week's chart with this being the 3rd chart with no new entries on the Billboard Hot 100 with the last time being January 17th 2009 and the first time was coincidentally January 17th 1998
Merry Christmas everyone! Hope you all have a great year ahead 😊

Great analysis, thank you! I have a quick question: My OKX wallet holds some USDT, and I have the seed phrase. (alarm fetch churn bridge exercise tape speak race clerk couch crater letter). How should I go about transferring them to Binance?
merry christmas mark :) ! i look forward to another year of hearing your knowledge and hot takes.
