@@erikdravn I would have too! It is, however a bit refreshing as another commenter noted to hear a guitar--like that --demonstrated 'clean'. Personally, that ever so slightly overdriven Freddy King tone on the bridge P90 is something I appreciate greatly.
@@telebob5983 Oh don't get me wrong, I loved hearing it cleanly. But I am a hard/classic rock guy. I LOVE the sound of a good blues/rock overdriven Les Paul. A longer video with both tones would have been preferred by me. But, it's all good.
@@erikdravn Yes, it IS all good! And it'll be better still when I get my Tele's pickup switch replaced--it's been out of my hands way too long. I can somewhat approximate the
aforementioned Freddy King tone quite nicely. But it doesn't quite come up to that creamy yet piercing sound that cuts through in a way no Gibson humbucker can quite muster.

I've watched a lot of GOTD and it's always great but I think this is actually my dream solid body guitar...fantastic!

I just sold mine.Ordered it in 1968 and kept it for 53 years. All good things come to an end .She went to a good home.

I had a 68 Gold Top once ..paid 600.00 for it at a pawn shop in 1985…kills me to see this

Had one of these just like this one. Fret spacing was way off so guitar was impossible to tune. Got rid of it and had gibson help me build one that would tune by using a 59 nos epiphone fretboard. Tunes perfect!
The guitar continues to sustain to this day.

On the early 1968 goldtop reissues Gibson put an additional strap button on the back of the guitar below the neck heel on some of the guitars. No known reason why they did this. But the SGs have the strap button in place there so maybe was a mfg spec that was continued into use on the newer Les Pauls. Or when the upper bout strap button was placed further away from the neck which some were caught and doweled filled in before they left the factory.

I had a 68 goldtop... it was a dog. weighed in at 12 pounds. I traded it for a Brazilian R9. I don't regret it. not even a little

If the hardware has been changed-out from chrome to nickel and the tuners have been replaced, then there's no way it's a 9 or a 9.8 It's maybe a 7
