Liverpool has its "John Lennon Airport". CORK should have its "RORY GALLAGHER AIRPORT".

An informative video;shows the history of the airport. With all of Rory's accomplishments it is only fitting that the Cork Airport be named after him. There is also a petition to sign to get Rory inducted to the rock and roll hall of fame , which,surprisingly,he is still not in -both these injustices must be corrected . Sign up now.

What an awesome post. My 18 year old son is a guitar player and counts Rory as one of the all-time best. Hope to fly into the Rory Gallagher Airport before the end of the year. groundzero1999

It might be also worth mentioning, Belfast City Airport changed it's name to "George Best Airport" It is only fitting really that Rory, another iconic figure in Ireland to be given the honour of the airport named after him. Cork is renowned for Gallagher!

Well Melte, why does it takes so long? Ask that the politicians in Dublin or better Irish Minister of Transport Leo Varadkar...he has no plans to rename any of the State Airports in Ireland...but the petition simply continues...don't give up anyway!

Belfast City Airport is now called George Best Airport. Rory deserves more recognition than he has been given by his home country, both North and South of the border. I thingk that renaming Ulster Hall in Belfast as the Rory Gallagher hall would be fitting
