First time, ive seen a blues man sing the words out, then play them on a harmonica; usually its on the guitar!! He even added the famous Led Zepplin "speaker in a cupboard" sound to his lyrics! Plain sexy af!
Pure genius .. magician .. still relevant in today's time . We need such humble artists to be stars not all those wannabe clowns using artificial pr beyond limits
To most people who hid not see Rory and band play live this is a mazing wonder, to my 6 brothers and I who were very lucky to see Rory and his boys play many times (but not enough times) this was just a normal Rory gig letting rip, playing blistering wild rocking, blues, country folk etc on stage, ripping up the place, tearing down the building with his stunning very great gigs, Thanks A Million Rory and the boys in your band
If i had to choose one FAVORITE of all the time -Its have to be RORY !!!!! He is HEART and SOUL in one person !!!- I watched him 5 times live in Belgrade and Novi Sad and Zemun ... maaan-
Mr Talent. For that as an occasional instrument he does great. There is a better song on video where the energy will wow you. Probably search Rory on harp?
That was my first thoguht as well! :) I haven't got a clue if he used this "trick" in The Watcher, but it sure sounds similiar. Very unusual Rory song that one, because of that unique sound... but it's still one of my favourite songs by him.
Everything he did.
Genius.

Te ne sei andato troppo presto eri un grande ❤❤❤❤❤❤
Rory plays the harmonica like he plays the Sunburst. He's got soul and mastery: a brilliant balance.
This was recorded on 2nd March 1976 (Rory's 28th Birthday) at BBC London "Old Grey Whistle Test" and the song is "All Around Man"....
RORY THE BEST FOR EVER ! RIP
This is awesome- I haven't seen much footage of him playing harp.
Wow, just a pure Blues man
Great Blues harp. I remember seeing this on TV in the 70s.Thanks heaps for uploading this

As good a harpman as he was an axeman..that's what you call versatility in blues.

@lilrolter Je suis d'accord mon amie.
more respect for RORY GALLAGHER
No Rory, no Robert Plant. From there he came, it is obvious in this delicious video.
When does he breath? Lol
@zarbi10425 nah i think they just both liked the old blues guys and play similar
is this the "trick" he used to sing "The Watcher" ?

I also like The Watcher very much. Unfortunately, I have not been able to locate a live performance. I also like Slumming Angel.
@MsLEHMANN69 I know. Tnx. :)
I'm from Serbia. :D
not rare at all, he always played a few numbers on acoustic and played harp at all his gigs, nothing unusual, or rare, at all
It's actually mediocre playing...now his guitar work...THAT'S amazing!
Mediocre ? I'll take it ! .....and isn't blues supposed to be about feel ?
