Stoeger 3500 Magazine Limit Plug Removal

- The M3500 Autoloader shotgun comes with a shell limit plug installed in the magazine tube. Removing the plug is not as simple as described in the manual, but is still very simple. You need to remove the plastic protector ring (S07 in the owners manual) with a screwdriver first.

With the limit plug in place, it will only hold two in the magazine and one in the chamber. With the plug removed, it will hold 3-3 1/2", 4-3", or 5-2 3/4" rounds. The neat thing is you can load any length round without changing anything on the gun.
Stoeger would sell so many more guns if they would have these and other tips on their site! For instance removing the scope mount plugs is easiest by removing the trigger assembly and punching them out easily from the inside with the gun upside down! Had to call to find that out and that the weaver scope mount rail is a 93 or 93A or 93AT with the AT having many slots! Great helpful video, thank you very much!

Thanx matt. Just picked up a super nice used one today and noticed it only held 3 rounds. Shot some of my old short brass reloads and no problem.It's a very nice and smooth gun!.
I didn't get to do any duck/goose last season, and I only bought it in the fall of 2012, but I did a lot of rabbit and pheasant and I LOVE THE GUN. Super low recoil. Never had a feed problem. I put about 50 various rounds through it before going in the field just to get comfy and break it in a little. The thing I like the most is how clean the action stays. At the end of the season, I went to clean it and didn't bother, just a little lube and a wipe down.
Yes. With the plug removed, you can now load 5x 2-3/4 rounds into the tube. So with one in the chamber you can chase rabbits and pheasant's with a six round arsenal in hand.
Yeah, I bought a M3K a few days ago, I was trying to figure out how to install an extended magazine I bought from MOA. One, I didn't know what the "limiter" was when I first saw it in the mag extension or what it was for, duh! Two, I didn't know how to get that extension in there until I saw this vid along with others and also, that there is another limiter inside the gun! Yeah, I felt that dumb, but thanks for clearing out some details that could have brought me a big headache later.

Strange thing happened to me today as I went to clean my 3500, that's how I came across this video. I noticed that the magazine tube retaining piece that you removed was completely missing, not sure what happened! The gun seems to cycle just fine without out. Not sure why the part is there. Thanks for the help!

They stopped putting the spacer in a few years ago. Has no purpose.

Very helpful. The owner's manual definitely doesn't explain the procedure very well.
When I called them on the phone, the guy said that EVERYBODY calls them for this, so I figured it was perfect material for a video! Happy shooting!
Actually be careful about not putting the cap back on because with out the cap M35000 now can hold 4, 2 3/4 shells even with the plug put back in ,but its not an issue with the 3 inch or bigger

thanks for the video I have the same shot gun and I was wondering the same thing I want to shoot clays and I could only get 2 in the tub one in the chamber and 1 ghost now I can really do it up thanks very much for the video

I just bought myself a brand new Stoeger am 3500. It would appear as though Stoeger is wise to the little plastic thing on the top of the magazine tube which makes removing the limiter plug a pain in the ass. When I got home and took it apart there was no plastic At the top of that magazine tube once I removed the threaded on magazine The limiter plug just fell out of the magazine I’m not sure if it was supposed to be like that but apparently my brand new one did not come with that plastic piece you have to pry out

Matt, why didn't your magazine spring jump out when you removed magazine spring retainer?
I don’t remember. This was 11 years ago, but I’m prettty sure the spring was otherwise retained in the tube.
I just bought my p3000 shot gun and I don't have this black plastic ring before the limiter plug?
Without the plug it will hold 4 or 5 in the tube with 2 3/4?
