  • In this tutorial, we show you how to install the one-step automatic buttonhole foot on your sewing machine, and then we show you how to properly use the presser foot. This foot creates perfectly sized buttonholes for the exact button you are using on your project. No more guesswork or uneven buttonholes! Also great for creating drawstring holes!
We have Automatic Buttonhole feet available for the following sewing machine brands:
Baby Lock, Bernette, Bernina, Brother, Elna, Euro-Pro, Eversewn, Husqvarna Viking, Janome, Juki, Kenmore, Necchi, Pfaff, Riccar, Simplicity, Singer and White: www.sewingpartsonline.com/?ut...
Not sure if your machine can use an Automatic Buttonhole Foot or not sure which foot will fit your machine? Call us at (888) 824-1192 or email us at Info@sewingpartsonline.com.

Place a straight pin across your buttonhole to protect the end threads from being cut by the seam ripper when opening the hole. It's a great trick! Most of us aren't as talented as Sarah in using a seam ripper. Great demo.

I was just curious on how to sew a button hole and didn’t even realize that there was a foot for it. Turns out my sewing machine came with it.

I have tried to use the button hole foot followed all directions still can't get it to work. I am going to just punch a slit in the material and double stitch it by hand. Tired of trying to fiqure it out.

Thank you!! I was altering a wrap dress to be maternity friendly. I attached a piece of fabric in the front that goes behind the top layer of the wrap. I needed a way to help the extra piece stay up, so I added a button hole. Now the string goes through the hole in the new fabric and the hole in the original dress. Perfect!

Hi Sarah I bought a new Janome about three years ago specifically for the automatic buttonhole as I was making my daughter's wedding favours and these needed two bottonholes each for ribbon to feed through - what a difference it made to have this feature. Previous to this my New Home machine had manual and was about 30 years old!
My question is what method/attachment can I use to make a very large oversize buttonhole - say 2-3 inches or bigger.
I wish there was a forum on youtube so that I could pass my thanks on to everyone whose videos I have watched and have given me so many tips, techniques and projects that will keep me busy. THANK YOU.

Depends on a sewing machine, there are sewing machine that are automatic (just 1 setting) just like she has and did, she just started it. And there are sewing machine that every sides has setting. Different setting for top, bottom, left side, and right side. Other sewing machine has no button hole maker setting at all. Hehehe
