He's using an i5 here. I'm looking at the i7 version with 16gb of ram and the price gets to around 1250$ where i live.
Yes, there are cheaper options with those specs but I'm looking for a laptop that I can work on when I travel.
The cheaper options usually have too many other disadvantages in terms of screen, size, weight, keyboard, heating, reliability or whatever.
Look at the reviews of this one and it's just a good laptop without any major issues, so based on those qualities, which is why it's a business laptop, the price is good.
I did not find a better option, and I was digging a lot.
EDIT: I bought this laptop and it's really a great one, feels very solid, great keyboard and touchpad, amazing screen. The only disadvantage is that it gets a little hot.

Going to try to get your hands on the E485/E585 with Ryzen APUs? I'm super anxious to see how those perform. They're meant to be the AMD brothers of the E480/E580. Should be considerably better with the integrated graphics than intel. I believe they may be launching next week in the US... already available in european and asian markets

This model was released almost one year ago (it's not listed on wikipedia but I have found articles on the web about the e480 that were published on january 2018). As far as i am concerned, it is a good buy, the rest is all marketing hype. it has the same processor, same res, same ram, same hard drive that others have. you can up the cpu if you want, the rest is just marketing nonsense. if you are gamer get one with a better graphic card and cpu. if not this one will do just fine. HOWEVER-lenovo site has some serious issues, be careful that your order does not fall in the cancel category and then you run in circles trying to get it off your bank acct. yah there are horror stories of how orders are getting cancelled without reason and sometimes cancelled orders are getting shipped. it is a nightmare.

allot of people trashing this E480, saying that isn't not a true Thinkpad like the T480, i find it ridiculous.
i used both and while the E480 doesn't feel as solid as the T480 its still much more well built then the vast majority of consumer laptops.
unless you really need that extra strength and are going to use your laptop for the next 10 years then the E480 is good enought.

Hi lon! i know, i know my kind of comment is not the most welcome but im having a bit of trouble getting the right one.
You see, im looking for a good laptopt, between 12 and 14", with a decent battery and brightness but mostly, a good keyboard (backlit would be almost a must but i guess if i found the perfect one without it..) under 700dls (if under 500, the better) and light. Im not looking for a lot of performance, but i do open a lot of tabs (doing research). About gaming, i wont play anything else than indies probably (the binding of isaac, slay the spire etc etc)
The thing is, the C302ca is basically a perfect match...i have really no much complains about it...but it uses chrome OS, and i would like to have at least an alternative with windows.
Do you know any laptop that comes even close to the c302ca, under 700? Thank you

I use an E440 i5 for work and it really extremely low quality built. Specs were fine for the build time. For my use (use it in and out of my car, and at customer sites, any E series would not hold up.) E as a joke stands for Economy, L stands for Lower end, T for Thinkpad, and X for Xtreme. Drop an E series Thinkpad once and it has frame damage and the keyboard deck cracks. I'm embarrassed to let people borrow my E440 due to the unintentional damage it has. I personally use a Yoga 15 720 i5 7300HQ with a 1050 2gig and love it for the build quality alone; specs are a bonus. I also have an L430 that is ALL thick plastic except for a magnesium frame and it will hold up to anything. I don't use the L430 because it's too slow and too old and too heavy. If I was in the market for a standard laptop now, I'd go X series or T5XXs series.

Lenovo have been copying their ideapad's. I have a lenovo 320s, and it looks the exact same as the 14inch thinkpad, but the ideapad is without the added features, such as the nub in the middle, and the USB type C charging. Mine does have a USB type c port, but it can only do data in and out. As well as that it has the same construction, which also shows that they are copying their old designs. They are good laptops, but I would go for the cheaper ideapad, just because its a nice feel for the money you are paying.

If you are just doing web research or programming, you can easily set the battery consumption on low, which will result in longer battery life. brother do you use this laptop? can you tell me more about the battery life in general use like programming or web researching.

@@deadblast2340 I use it for software development and it's decent. The battery life is not that great, won't last more than 6 hours with screen brightness at 70%. Has coil whine and tends to overheat a bit (fans are on the loud side). Screen is dim but if you're using it indoors, it's manageable. Keyboard is excellent - as all Thinkpad keyboards are.
I did not buy it, the company gave it to me and it was brand new (took it out of the sealed box myself) but would definitely not buy it for personal use.
If you absolutely need a laptop and can't wait a few weeks, get something like the Lenovo IdeaPad 530S (comes in 14 and 15 inches) or you can wait a bit more because Dell, Asus and Lenovo will bring to market the laptops announced at IFA a few weeks back - I'm really interested in the Asus Zenbook UX533 and the new Lenovo IdeaPad 730S that's supposedly coming out this fall.

The worst display I have ever come across. Bought this one with the 1920 display IPS which i thought was a better display. Wrong! the brightness is horrible on this E480 and there is so much darkness in the display it is unbelievable that this type of laptops are in the market. Most of the laptops I saw in the store (Lenovo) were with this low brightness. Would not recommend it based on my experience.

You could get a pretty good second hand laptop for $300. For example ThinkPad T430, T440 or maybe some Dell Latitude E6430, E6440, E5440. But DO NOT buy a brand new laptop for $300 because those are pure garbage!
