- gas station knives can be tricky some are good some are s***.. but the real truth is it's more about the reviewer I am starting to see that more and more and I need to be careful because it's easy to influence a video a certain way

I think it would be safe to say that everyone of us started with cheap knives, or knives a lot cheaper than the ones we carry today. Personally I prefer cheaper knives for daily carry because they work well, and if lost or broken you won't cry about it too much. I used to carry an Emerson back in the day when I worked construction and it took a big chip in the blade after it bounced off the rack insert in my truck. After that day I switched to Spyderco, Kershaw, etc. I leave the good stuff in the safe of go bag for when the chips are really down. Daily chore knives stay cheaper. Who else does this?
Brother honestly I carry a little bit of everything I always make sure though that I have a couple of cold steels on me for the really really tough stuff. I have found that they do the better job with it just crappy stuff
Scab i bet my paycheck theres been more cheap gas station knives in peoples pockets than highend knives that guys are afraid to use.
Brother I am right there with you that's a solid bet! Hope all is well with you brother
I still have some of my old gas station knives. They're worn out, but I just can't throw them away. Sentimental value to me and never forget where I came from.
Brother I'm the same way I got a whole bin full of them
"Anything over zero is simply unacceptable absolutely" Vets know that you are appreciated and loved by us big time! 👍🏻🇺🇸🔥🔪🔥🇨🇦👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Amen brother amen
Great review. You could have just done a throwaway video, but you gave these knives a fair shake. That's one of the things that sets you apart from lots of the knife reviewers on TH-cam.
Hey brother I appreciate that. The truth is man the guys who wanted me to check these out have really helped this channel out and never asked for anything in return so I wanted to do it for them
Thanks for making this video. Every one can't spend 2 grand on customs. But we always find what works best for our budget
Absolutely man glad to do it
Hey Scab you deserve credit for putting these 2 through their paces. We are not going to be looking to buy but its interesting to see how they did.
Thank you thank you
The truth is man we show everything we've shown $1,000 knives that nobody's going to buy the $5 I try to get it all in
Buy what you can, use what you have!
Fantastic final words Scab!
Thank you my brother! Mucho gracias
I DO have, and buy, nicer knives at this point in my life, but every now and then one of those "toy" knives catches my eye and I am just as excited to get it as I am some of the "better" ones. Turns out that if you keep them sharp, and they are easy AF to sharpen, they still cut. 🤯🤯🤯
I don’t always keep up with your videos but you are my favorite knife reviewer. Nice demonstrations here. Very good work, Scab. Keep em going
Brother I appreciate you very much man it's hard to keep up with everything so anytime you watch I'm thankful
When I was buying those kind of knives. I would lock tight all the screws but you have to be careful when you take the screws out.
Absolute facts man.. thumb studs came out of the red one and I didn't even know
Boy you better get some of those damn Norwegian cut proof gloves 🧤 with them yellow knives! 😅
Lmao
I don't know. Me and my friends felt protected and badass when we were carrying stuff like that back in 1987.
0 they will still stab that they can do
I have to admit, when I am on a road trip and stop at one of those gas stations on the highway, I'm always looking for the crazy gas station knives. I haven't ever bought one, but one day I know I'm going to find just the right one.
i like the looks of the knifes, and they cut..awesome Review my Brother..much love to you and Megatron
My brother I love you I hope you have a great weekend
I wish that one with the crazy handle wasn't from the gas station, I dig that design.
Good work man. Not many Knife channels test these GS knives.
You know we got to brother!
I had one like that but instead of camo it was a rubber handle and the top and bottom bolsters were gold and also had teeth on the back near your thumb.
Nice!!
Who hasn't owned a few Gas Station Knives
It is almost a rite of passage
I'm not gonna use my grails to do dirt....i would be more willing to toss a 5.00 dollar blade into the drink over a blade that ment something to me! I have and will never get rid of my gas station blade! Great chat as always Mr.Scab! Cheers, Kimmers and Jerbs #BEUP #DSKFS #neverquitquitting #22ADay #22ADaynomore #BEUP #DSKFS #NEVERQUITQUITTING #22ADay 🇺🇸🔥🔪🔥🇨🇦👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Cheap is a matter of personal opinion...in other words, cheap is subjective.
For a man with $20 in his pocket, then $100 is expensive.
For a man with $5 in his pocket, then $20 is expensive.
But for a man with $100,000 in his bank account, then a $ 50 knife is cheap.
But a measure of a man is the quality of his tools.
I would never risk the life of my child or wife with a knife that is likely to fail under hard use.
A dependable knife costing a bit more than those "gas station knives" is insurance for safe use.
You use what you have. I don't know I've worked in construction my whole life that I'm not used to all this TH-cam safety s*** we use what we have if we get hurt we get hurt that's just the way it's always been that's the way it always will be. It's all subjective and I can tell you neither me or jerbs have 100000 in the bank🤣
@@choirboyzcutleryoutdoors I have a whooping 30.00 in my bank....i can't afford any knives! Even a 5 dollar knife is out the question atm....without the friends I have I wouldn't have many knives at all in fact....but I tell you if I win the lotto everyone I know would get there grail and a 5.00 gas station knife!
@@blueeyeswhitedragon9839 I feel a measure of a man is making good with what he has to work with....i can do with a 5.00 blade most if not every task a 100.000 could...just may take a little more finesse then....
@@choirboyzcutleryoutdoors :- Add up your potential Social Security payments...that's money in the bank. Or, do you own your home, car, truck? Many of us are more wealthy than we think. And whenever I complain about my financial situation, I look at the lives of people in the Sudan, Gaza, Ukraine and even eastern Russia, or closer to home, the tent people in every large city.
But the $100,000 was used as an example of the high end of wealth in that example...as we know, the truely wealthy measure their wealth in the millions and in power over the rest of us.
I knew a guy who carried hundreds of dollars with him every day, rolled in a wad in his pocket...now that was EDC ! But he is now dead and money meant nothing to him in his last hours.
My little "story" was only an attempt to explain the need for quality tools, at work or at home or in our pockets. No disrespect to the poor who can't afford a decent $50 knife.
Even the knives showcased by Scab in his videos, they can run into hundreds of dollars, you don't get that type of sharpness and dependability for $5...to think otherwise is to be rediculous.
Well, you know my opinion on cheapo beater knives - some are hot, many are not, and a sparse few are truly great. Either of these would be fine, especially for the price, as truck knives to throw in the glove compartment or a tackle box. That said, I don't think I've ever seen ones like the red one where the seat belt cutter did a damn thing.
Every single one of us has had knives like that !!!!! I've always said if it's what you can afford be proud of it you paid for it. Now if it was a friend or somebody thats big into knives let's say like Scab I would give a hard time in a (Friendly Kidding around kinda way). But seriously if it's all I could afford then I'd carry it until I could afford something better. If you can squeeze out say 40 bucks I'd go with Rosecraft or Civivi at least a reputable maker and build from there. Peace Brother
Exactly right brother exactly right! I tell you the truth every now and then you'll find one that's just something about it and it winds up in your pocket LOL
Good topic , thanks for sharing YAH bless brother !
Thank you my brother I can pull one out of nowhere every now and then
My daily is a Zero Tolerance 0650ST. Overkill for most daily uses? Yeah, but its what im use to carrying and my wife got it for me for our anniversary 5 years ago. Ive been a ZT fan boy for years, I admit it. If im dressed up (once a year maybe) I carry a 0350TS
I hear you brother I carry my 0 303 or my 0301 I love them both and I'm a monster zero tolerance fan
As long as they don't fall apart all knives have a use and spot in the rotation...Sometimes as I call it you need a throw away knife and you all out there know what that means....Good stuff....
Are phenomenal throwaways
@@choirboyzcutleryoutdoors 👍👍
Carry what you have... 100% brother Hope you and Meg are doin awesome!!
Excellent video brother!!
Thank you my brother and much love
Great Video Scab, your videos are so well rounded and inclusive
I appreciate you brother thank you!
Steel composition = Bazooka bubblegum
Lmao 🤣🤣
Can’t go too far wrong at that price Brother 🇺🇸 🇳🇿
In terms of budget and quality, if you can spend $33 support the Chinese regime and get a petrified fish Terra, because at $33 it’s the the best thing you can hold, it’s very reminiscent of the original Nomad EDC, I’d like to send you one to thrash, but damn we’re out out of luck 🍀 if we think America can produce that at the quality they do unfortunately 😮
I need to learn how to sharpen badly
Man it's a great skill to have you just have to take the time and put in the work. I've got to get better at it myself
I think you deserve the #1 spot to monopolize the you tube knife market and reveiws.well done.
I appreciate you brother I really do
You’re more man than I am. God bless you I would never feel safe attempting to do these things with these type of knives. Stay safe thank you for another great one. 😊😊😊😊😊😊
Eh.. we do way more dumb s*** than this at work
@@choirboyzcutleryoutdoorsLOL ,Scab
The only time I've ever said anything about a knife someone was carrying was a fire chief of a volunteer fire department carrying a $5 frost knife as his duty knife. If you have other people's lives in your hands, you are saying their lives don't matter. I've ordered a stronger knife to gift to him.
Well that makes sense I have cousins that are fire Chiefs they can certainly afford more than $5 knives 🤣🤣
