All beens, whether coffee beens or Dr. Been, are good for you.
For years I drank coffee by the pot full and in NY restaurants I never counted the refills which arrived automatically. Now retired I drink a mix of two table spoons of instant coffee mixed with two tablespoons of Cocoa per day. The mix usually also contains amino acids, BCAA's, Arginine Alphaketogluterate and multi vitamins. Thank you Dr. Been, for clearing up a few questions I had about caffeine. Now I can drink more coffee again but not nearly as much as I did.
Cinnamon is the 💣 when added. Turmeric 👍
Instant Coffee is carcinogenic
Cylon Cinnamon is safer to use if you use cinnamon on a daily basis.
The usual type found in grocery stores is the type that also thins the blood, found in the rolled up bark and powdered forms Cassia cinnamon has Cumarin in it which acts to think the blood.
@@scythianking7315 Thanks for that info.
@@kellydrodgers8957 I stopped buying Cassia cinnamon but keep forgetting to order Cylon. Thanks for the reminder.
I do 24 hour fast at least 2 days a week. I only drink 2 to 3 black coffee throughout the day. I've lost over 25 lbs in one year. No exercise.
Love love love this information. I always felt guilty choosing coffee over tea or water . Lol
While I appreciate we live in a world where overeating is a problem, weight loss is not always a positive or an indicator of good health.
No exercise??? You might look good on the outside, but you are a disaster waiting to happen on the inside. Walk every day if you want to be actually healthy.
@@katydidnt3906 haha I do exercise but not on a daily routine like I did a year ago. I ride bike to work on cool days, and of course do my little yoga. But a year ago I was full out crossfit 5 days a week. I know I've lost muscle but my insides are more healthy than when I was 30. I took a gut and brain health course and continue to work on my gut health.
Namaste fellow Been fan!!!
Black coffee is good for your liver.... Buy a percolator.... Thank me later
@@neobailey5268 lol awe thanks! I actually live off grid with solar power so I only drink percolated. Unless if course I grab one from Tims in town when I dare to go in haha
During my daily fasting hours I do drink plain black coffee and tea. There are purists claiming if you drink anything but water it's not a fast. Well, call it whatever you want. I can easily go up to 30 hours without food, but not without coffee.
DrBeen, you missed your way, you are an ARTIST!!!!!🎨
Perhaps he could do an NFT series. I love his illustrations. His artistic expression helps me to grasp the concepts in such a fun way.
He has lost a hero who died at age 47 from cardiac arrest at the Paris airport. Maybe this is channeled art?
I am sure those studies were done using vegetable
(Seed) oils mainly. According to Dr. Eades, animal fats have no negative effect on mitochondrial metabolism so we as humans started to put on excess weight and increase fatty liver and other modern diseases once we introduce those vegetable oils. Animal fats have a protective effect. Eat rich and live longer. I am a heavy coffee drinker too and Low carb and I believed coffee(black) really reduces appetite.
as a dietitian, i often focus on triggering autophagy, be it with keto, fasting, berberine, curcumin, resveratrol, green tea, and other proven autophagy activators, along with carnitine and cholegogues to mobilize fats. i have def seen this work to lower stubborn triglycerides anecdotally for people who dont respond to normal lifestyle interventions and blood augar control. just saying. makes sense.
welp, that sounds like an excellent multidimensional approach
You're one of the few dietitians I think that way
Hi Charlotte,
I have been taking berberine to help lower A1C which seems to be helping along with diet change. What are the other proven autophagy activators you mentioned in your comment? Thanks!
Would you mind helping a fellow human bean out with some dieting questions?! If so I'd love to message you through youtubes!
I'm glad to hear from someone who has multidimensional approach - I like coffee, but I know it's not overall healthy like those other foods you've mentioned
Made my day. Thank you so much for your never ending gifts to humanity.
I take 6 to 8 cups daily, of good quality Brazilian coffee. Just feel great. Very pleased to hear about this beautiful study. Thank you Dr. Been, for everything! I've been following you since early 2020, due to the hellish pandemic, and now you have a layman following you forever lol. Just love your lectures, and your effort to keep us well informed. Very much appreciated. Greetings from Rio, Brazil.
also drinking to much fluids is problem itself
one of reasons is water sources do not come from high mountains from ice melting but are polluted with high levels of deuterium
and it's bad for your mitochondria
which are busy getting rid of deuterium to create the real metabolic clean water without this hard water
it means that people drink a lot of water to get hydrated but get dehydrated instead 😂
I am one of those Koolbeens who stay on after the summary because I just love these deep dives right down to the cellular level! Keeps my brain on the go, better than coffee.🤩
An ENT told me to stop drinking coffee a few years ago. I'm glad I didn't listen to him. Thank you ❤️
They never tell us to quit beer, sugar, or TV 🥴
Caffeine is actually bad for microbiome however, it maybe good for liver fat which we have already known about. Caffeine decreases beneficial species of bacteria and increases harmful microbes all while increasing inflammation in the gut. Not to mention increasing both stress hormones.
@@tommyortiz6623 Name your sources and/or provide links.
@@percybyssheshelley8573 I have many sources but here’s 2
@@tommyortiz6623
Don't see your source links? Info sounds maybe correct tho since so much acid in coffee can affect the stomach at least. Yes! I know stress hormones go up.
I drink 2 cups in morn, occasionally one later- coconut oil and turmeric added - sometime whipped cream and cinnamon! Thanks for great break down at cellular level- love it! 😍
Sounds like the "bullet proof" method with the oil?
I use to add oil or butter to mine but found out I have the genetic leaning that causes a higher saturated fat diet to lead to diabetes etc.
Always loved coffee. And not too long ago increased my intake. I must be drinking at least 4 cups a day. We always knew coffee was loaded with antioxidants. But after reading two huge studies done not too long ago, involving close to a half a million people, showing coffee can extend your life, it was just more confirmation of its benefits.
In the 18th century, a King of Sweden did a study to test the dangers of coffee. He used twins doing life terms in prison. Probably more like dungeons. He gave one pots of coffee a day, the other tea. The twins doing hard time no doubt, outlived the King and those conducting the experiment.
Were both the tea and coffee outcomes the same?
@@L.J.01 I would say they were similar outcomes. The story goes the tea drinker was the first to die, at age 83; it is unknown how long the coffee drinker lived. The physicians supervising the experiment, died of natural causes before the study was completed.
There is some question to the validity of the story. But with those two huge studies done recently, involving a half a million participants, showing people living longer lives,... I see no reason to question the story.
The two studies and the story can be easily found on the internet. CNN did a write up on the two huge studies. Then I looked them up on PubMed. I knew of the 18th century experiment a long time ago.
@@ohbaby-baby Thanks for the info! 😊
I like coffee so I like this study. I think you like coffee too! lol. A bunch of recent diet studies tend to point me back to a more traditional lifestyle (wine, coffee, enjoy everything in moderation, stay close to nature, etc).
Wine and coffee is acidic so very little for health
I agree
@@gracewhite1601 you must disagree with the study. Also,as a cardiac nurse for years, the patients who drank caffeinated coffee had less damage and faster recovery than patient who restricted caffeine.
@@gracewhite1601 Wine, especially homemade, has resveratrol and who knows what else that works well with it. When you say acidic, do you mean by its ph or how it makes your body? The reason I ask is because lemon juice, apple cider vinegar, vitamin C are all acidic but still healthy.
Another lesson chock full of info. I also enjoy between 6 to 12 oz of coffee a day and green tea also every day. Please continue with these nutritional lessons. Also enjoy the intermittent fasting ones you have done and the dandelion leaf one too! Learning so much from you and your guests. Thank you😊 Have a nice weekend🙂
I am fasting every morning until lunch at noon, or more often until supper at around 5-6PM. Coffee and water helps to surpress hunger that occure around 11AM.
My weight dropped from 102 kg to 97 kg in about 4 months.
This study, and presentation is gold standard for a novice like me :)
You're putting your body under chronic stress, which means heightened levels of cortisol. Do some research on that before thinking you are on the right track to health. Then decide your best approach to overall health.
Dr Bean I am not a coffee drinker or do I drink tea I have problems with caffeinated beverages .I would like you to tell me if cholesterol levels are associated with caffeine?
@@katydidnt3906 what chronic stress would that be?

The more I learn about biology and the integrated complexities of the human body and how DNA is masterfully programmed to interact with what we put into it the more I realize why I don't have enough faith to be an atheist. Our bodies are incredible designs.
Romans 1:20
For his invisible attributes, namely, his eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly perceived, ever since the creation of the world, in the things that have been made. So they are without excuse.
I started intermittent fasting to try to trigger autophagy and Dr. Marik said it’s ok to drink coffee, so I started drinking more coffee instead of eating until late afternoon. So far, lost 7 or 8# so far (that was not my goal but is a good thing!)
I have always loved the smell of coffee, but I always feel gitery when I have it and my mom always got headaches when she had it one day and didn't have it another day so I didn't really feel comfortable with it, but it has helped many people I have known so everyone is different with how their bodies react to it. This is very interesting and great for those who have coffee I don't even have pop either just water, with lemon, and stevia and it is very delicious and helps get rid of headaches if ever I have them and very refreshing on a hot desert day. Thanks for sharing this information and how unbiased you are very special and doing a great service for all of us and many blessings!
Thank you again. You are a great teacher Dr Been .
You just saved my life. Thank you Dr. Bean!
Such an important study! Would caffeine in another form like black tea or even caffeine tablets/patches have the same affect as coffee? Wondering if other zinc ionophores like green tea (EGCG) or quercetin would also affect autophagy like chloroquine did in the study.
I hope so. I don't do coffee
YAY! Thanks Dr. Been! Another reason to enjoy my morning coffee!
In response to your concluding questions; I drink dark roasts. 4-5?cups daily. We work evenings. Have no trouble sleeping. Weight 110. Yo72. Hgt 5' 1.5". Injured back and bed ridden couple days. Just slept. No food just water. Intense leg cramps began. No relief. Had strong cup of coffee and pain subsided in 10-15 minutes. Looked up studies and yes caffeine can break pain cycle. Important to stay hydrated because it can increase urination. Enjoyed your presentation 😃🤝
I'm a proud two cup coffee drinker every day and when I fast. (Also, drink tea both are great.)
Wow I love learning new things!
Coffee is a true gift to humanity! ☕️🥰
I would drink two cups a day and noticed I wouldn’t feel very hungry. I felt full until later in the day. I had to stop coffee due to heart palpitations, Covid made them worse for awhile. Then the coffee hyped me up when I started back again, caffeine high, and I would crash the next day. I guess I am very sensitive to the hyper effects of caffeine?
So now I know it wasn’t just me “feeling”full it was the caffeine. Thank you Drbeen.
Same here with the heart palps. So now I occasionally drink decaf and no heart effects. Still get the antioxids from the coffee and I use only organic, water decaf'd kind. Just recently found out have mast cell activation, and my tachycardia was mostly gone until recently got the JN.1 (I think) and now tach is back! I've never been sick with the flu for a month and were same symptoms of CV but less. Pretty sure it was JN.1 now with your experience added. Thanks.
Dr. Marik etal. Will adore this study and its propensity to reduce diabetic comorbity and clear spike protein debris through autophagy. Thank you Dr. Been for relevant forgotten science!!
That study did specify that they used clean black organic coffee only. The pesticides in regular coffee might have a negative effect. Most heavy coffee drinkers drink regular coffee with added calories that will not have the same effect as this study.
Great lecture and information! Really appreciated this one! Many thanks 🙏❣️
You are so welcome Sunny! Thanks for joining us :)
The study was based on drinking 3-4 cups a day. So under that amount may have no effect. Also note that there was another doctor mentioned in the article who said that other studies have proved the opposite, that coffee does not help the liver. I can certainly see that intermittent fasting is a good thing though, no matter if you drink coffee or not.
I love coffee!!!!! I make a French press make organic coffee - no jitters, no palpitations - I put organic butter/ organic coconut oil and a bit of powdered goat into a bullet
oh, sounds like a nice morning routine * yum
4 cups a day for me!!! First thing I think about when I wake up!!!

Thank you Dr. Mobeen for this incredible study. I have always appreciated your lectures even if I am not a medical practicioner :) Stay healthy and happy always !
Beautiful study and discussion. As a Patron, I have thoroughly enjoyed Mobeen’s gifts.
Several questions:
1. Have these findings been confirmed by subsequent studies?
2. Does this caffeine induced autophagy occur in ALL body cells, including brain, heart, joints, etc.?
3. The findings on the inhibition of autophagy induced by chloroquine/hydroxychloroquine seem to suggest a negative effect of hydroxychloroquine on the management of Long Haul and Post vax injured. In FLCCC protocols for both, hydroxychloroquine is listed as one of the treatment alternatives. If indeed this has been confirmed with subsequent studies, should FLCCC reconsider the recommendation for hydroxychloroquine?
4. As a pediatrician, I often find fatty liver in my obese older children and adolescents. Although we always tend to frown on coffee in kids due to associated caffeine induced calciuria and calcium loss, I am wondering if calcium supplementation would be considered in patients who use caffeine for autophagy/detoxification. I realize Mobeen is hesitant to discuss items in pediatric population. Just wondering if this might make sense in the fatty liver management even in obese older kids and adolescents.
Middle of page 10 on the FLCCC website in the I recover post vaccine recovery section.
" Chloroquine and hydroxychloroquine (HCQ) act by alkalinizing lysosomes and therefore interfere
with the autophagy process. [79;80] Based on this data, HCQ may limit the benefit of
intermittent fasting."
I really normally brew decaf because of the jitters and irregular heartbeat. But in the brew I add a 1/2 tsp. Cardamom, 1 tsp cinnamon, 10 shakes of ground cloves and a pinch of salt for 8-10 cups brewing level- delicious!
WHAT HAPPENS IN CULTURES that DON’T drink coffee - and never have ancestrally ?
I wonder …
They found something else! And if they still live in the woods you know why.
God bless you Dr Mobeen!!! 🙏👏
If I drink even a tablespoon of coffee, I end up in ER with major heart palpitations and chest pain.
I have been intermittent fasting for a few years…and added some of the things that the dietitian commented on like curcumin etc. so hopefully that helps my NAFL. Thanks for the report💜💫
Crazy..I wonder what causes this? I have bad palps and arrhythmias I take meds for. Coffee doesn't trigger anything for me for tachycardia luckily.
@@SupremeODMG for me, I also have Histamine Intolerance, which makes my body react to almost everything 😢

I am looking forward to your follow up program on intermittent fasting, specifically, at what point in the fast is autophagy triggered?
I do not drink coffee on daily basis, I consume about 2-5 cups/ week. I like to make myself the coffee and I drink really strong ones . I also feel that coffee doesn't really mix nice with other food ( may be just for me, or just my strong coffees, I don't know), so I usually drink a coffee alone ( or maybe sometimes with some sugar/ cinnamon, a little dark chocolate ). Mixing coffee with some more food makes me feel like the digestion is not really proper ( although also I have less sensation of 'I want to lay and sleep after a good big meal' ).
Brilliant explanation, thank you Dr. Been

Thanks for the talk! I have the occasional cup. It doesn't go well with my meds, so decaf for me. I'm taking less of that medication now, so maybe I'll enjoy the regular more often.
I am a heavy coffee drinker 8cups per day all my life, i had a scan on my liver recently & they said i had a healthy fresh looking liver &i'm 54.

really cool real-life comparison there + thanks for sharing
does she drink a lot of alcohol ?
@@cami5054 no tea total like me, she has never even tried a glass of wine, she hates the smell, both non smokers
There are a lot of reasons for a healthy looking liver vs. having NAFLD. Not sure coffee is the most prominent one. Liver disease is due to eating the wrong foods and our sedentary lifestyle. And genetics. My mom was thin, but dad was not. Fortunately, I got my mom's genes in that regard. Thanks mom!
@@Fair-to-Middling your right but i think coffee can help as can lemons for helping clear the liver.

Thank you God! For making coffee.
This is just fascinating....
I drink 2 cups a day. I use a strainer with coffee filter and pour boiling water over it. I make terrible coffee with coffee pot. I use 3 to 4 tablespoons of coffee pr cup.
I absolutely love the smell of coffee but I can not drink it any more. I used to drink coffee when I was a smoker but after stopping smoking the need for that cuppa in the morning wasn't so urgent. So I became a rooibos tea drinker. There is no caffeine in rooibos, so I have not had caffeine for about 18 years. But I would love to drink coffee again, for the reason in this video and because I love the taste and smell of it. How do I drink coffee without getting the shakes and tremors for hours on end? And without lying awake at night with my brain on full speed? I already find it difficult to get a good nighnt's sleep as it is (menopause an all).
You should check out the mice studies with I ver mectin for NAFLD. Very impressive.
Home ground organic coffee filtered water with foamed organic milk -is my drink of choice. Too lazy to eat 1/2 the time. Works for this sturdy old lady.

If you L-O-V-E coffee, be SURE to try Red Bay Coffee dark roast-- best-tasting coffee I've ever had. Red Bay is an Oakland, CA business and operates online so you can order and they'll ship, or if in Oakland visit the Fruitvale area shop. It's a Black-owned socially responsible business that holds a number of celebrations and neighborhood events.
Before people, especially women, start drinking 5 cups a day, consider that caffeine is a risk factor for osteoporosis.
I def have 2-3 cups daily w about 2 tbsp heavy cream ☕️
To add: the first thing I have before coffee is hot green tea or lemon tea or just hot water with squeezed lemon in it. Then I wait about 15 minutes before drinking the special coffee with ingredients mentioned earlier.
my morning "breakfast" consists of straight long black coffee and vaping. No food until between 12pm to 6pm. Energy levels improved significantly over couple of months.
Hello Dr. Been. Thank you very much for your information. You are helping many people. I have a question. Lots of people are suffering from long Covid, heart problems, diabetes, etc..... And there is lots of information (more and more) what you could do yourself to feel better. But it's not easy to find the right information and to make a plan for yourself. I have a request. Could it be possible to make a compilation which vitamins, minerals, supplements, food to eat and complete with a time schedule. Inclusive excercise and training. Also what is the best time to take a cup of coffee. Or NAD, vitamin D, etc....apple cider vinegar.
I think it's a big job to do. But you're very experienced and highly educated. I am sure many people are willing to pay sone money for a like I say detox, authopaghy, immune boosting program. I am having brain fog and concentration issues. Otherwise I would do it myself. With love. John.
I drink two or three cups of tea per day. coffee gives me nausea and vomiting. Good luck to those that can consumed coffee...

I was never over weight in my entire life. My weight equal my height, normally. Thank you DrBean...
Whoa! I know someone who had a habit of drinking 6-8 (6oz) cups of coffee every day, but always had normal blood labs. Then the person lost the taste for coffee after lunch, so the habit dropped to 2 (6oz) cups every day. The doctor thought that was good news, which was the first the patient heard that the doctor had any concern about drinking 36-48 oz. of coffee every day. Then a few days later the person got a voicemail from the doctor's office, sounding urgent, asking for a return call ASAP because of what the blood labs showed. The person was scared, and phoned back on the lunch break at work. It turned out the cholesterol levels were high so the doctor wanted the patient on medication immediately. I wonder if there's a connection to the drop of caffeine? Maybe for this person it would be better to have 4 (6oz) cups per day rather than either medication with risk of dementia and other side effects, or going untreated. Certainly something to bring up with the doctor.
Betcha a nickel that that doc has NO idea about this subject...
well, if it was just something like Lovaza (to help mobilize serum triglycerides) then that was probably fine. If your friend is now stuck on a lousy Statin, have him/her seek their Doc's council to map out an alternative approach. Just some ideas eh
great video Dr. Been. speaking of coffee, i fast every Fridays which includes coffee and carbs. and as i watched this video, now i crave coffee LOL! I almost turned on my espresso machine to make a cappuccino. your video on coffee and fatty liver was very interesting. your thoughts on choline and inositol supplements on regards to getting the liver back to normal?
well.. Next to coffee I do drink "Yerba Mate" ..
( caffeine in Yerba Mate somehow doesn't cause sleeping disorder )
caffeine in green tea also will keep you awake,
but for me unlike coffee it does feel "less" bad to be awake

Dr Been, please comment whether taking hydroxychloroquine to get zinc into the cell interferes with the phagosomes.
Some people don't believe that fairy tales come true, but I drink a potion made from magic beans every morning, and it brings me back to life \(٥⁀▽⁀ )/
In the past, I drank 6-8 cups of coffee and about 1 liter of coke (daily). Until I developed SVT due to much caffeine according to my cardiologists. I reduced my coffee intake to 3 cups caffeinated and 1 cup of decaf a day. Stopped drinking coke. Living a High Fat Low Carb (KETO) lifestyle for the last 5 years and feeling great. I take several supplements including NAC, D3,K2, Zinc and Quercetin among others. I was wondering if quercetin will reduce autophagy.
Losing the Coke likely solved all your problems
SVT can be triggered by dehydration. Remember to re-hydrate after coffee intake ;)
....but I am surely not one to lecture because I am very bad at drinking water after my coffee.
thanks for sharing, and sorry not sure about the quercetin
Good question. I take quercetin plus zinc to reduce my covid risk and now I’m wondering if it reduces acidity like chloroquine does. I don’t have an answer for you but since I recently had covid (no big deal) I think I will reduce my quercetin intake especially the day before fasting.

What about the chlorogenic acid component of coffee? I thought that did something important, maybe anti-oxidant.Also I am not sure why we want to increase autophagy so much, as it can be overdone. Are we opposing the body's balance by stimulating autophagy more than the cells would have? Do we know better than the body? Or, is this for people who eat high-fat diets, to balance that?
What about tea caffeine?
Dr been I just heard Dr Marik speak on your podcast live but there was no room for comment so I'd love to comment here FIRST THANK YOU so much for bringing Dr Marik on because he is a man of his word and everything he says is the TRUTH and I esteem him beyond words HE mentioned two products to take that I thought he said were especially good for women that would help increase autophagy BUT I've NEVER heard of the names and so I need you-- if you would-- PLEASE spell them and IF they're over the counter, can I find them in Walgreens or CVS or need I go online? ALSO hopefully I won't need a prescription because my doctor is NOT compliant re anything regarding health. HE'S only compliant regarding drugs which I don't take -- until I was lied to about this latest drug.
ALSO could you ask Sean if he would come back on your show?
THANK YOU and I hope you and your wife and your son and daughter had a lovely Thanksgiving all together. And I'm so glad your wife after one year is feeling better as am I😊Not 100% for -- as the good doctor said & as I've been saying: the spike may stay within the body FOREVER😵 I read of a study that said they modified the spike for the vaccine to make it NOT degrade and therein lies the rub, as Shakespeare would say🤐
Hello ladybug! Do you have a source for the study you mentioned? I'd like to read that one. Thanks!
I usually drink 1 cup of filtered 100% Arabic coffee in the morning. If I take coffee in the afternoon my sleep will be disturbed. Curiously, when I had Covid (about two months ago) I could not have any coffee. It gave me nausea. Thank God it is all over now!
Green tea has caffeine, as far as I know. Does green tea thus have the same positiv effect?
I take a small amount of sodium bicarbonate with water beginning and end of the day as a way to clean my kidney. Does this affect autophagy which I also practise daily. My concern arise from the reduction of acid in cells which are necessary for autophagy.
I've been heavy coffee drinker, 10 mugs plus for 45 years, there are days when I don't eat and just drink flat white coffee. I weighed the same weight for the 45 years.
I never drink coffee. Can't stand the taste, and it has too much caffeine for me. As a side note, I've been the same weight for 45 years too. Probably longer. 115 pounds (except when I had my children, then I was 135). I think there's more to being slim than drinking coffee. I see a LOT of overweight people who drink the stuff.
I wonder what effect 0n inflammatory response increased autphagy has.
I wonder if coffee enemas would allow better route to the liver for caffeine via hepatic portal circulation rather than by mouth?

Hi Dr, at the start you say this is relevant to those drinking 2-3 cups a day; is that 3 cups made on an espresso machine, or 3 cups dry coffee powder (instant). A lot of people I know consider instant to be equal, yet direct from bean would obviously be different
This is probably over my head and I may regret this comment later. But here it goes: I thought caffeine also increases cortisol levels, which isn't really something to be desired daily. In a world where so many are already in adrenal fight or flight response. Wouldn't gentler methods like curcumin, which seems to lower cortisol levels be a better choice? Or am I getting this all worng?
I wonder if removal of the mice gall bladder would disrupt the process....if mice have gall bladders. And what about high fructose corn syrup? Isn't fructose exclusivly used by the liver and stored there? Hmmm.....
