Definitely looking forward to the OG's, which I much preferred over the remakes personally. Hearing Crystal say that RE1 was one of her favourites during this marathon due to the fixed camera angles and puzzles makes me excited for these playthroughs :)

Sometimes I feel like I’m too harsh on RE6 but then I see videos like this and remember what it was like again and my feelings are justified. I’m kinda glad we got this game for Capcom to realise no one wanted this type of RE game so they did a 180 and gave us the brilliant RE7. I look forward to you playing that.

It's certainly not a good game, but I think it can be fun for a different type of player. I'm the type of person who will look up speedruns and technical strats for a game if I'm not having fun with it, because it gives me a different angle to approach it from, and I feel like there's a few really funny things you can do in re6 that make the game more enjoyable. If you are clearly not having fun though, I think you did make the right decision to just look up the cutscenes. You shouldn't torture yourself with something you don't like.
Ahhh. My childhood 😍. I remember getting this when i was like 13. Still love the game & all the new characters that they introduced. Would love to see Sherry & Jake in future games.
I’m glad you enjoyed RE6, because I do as well, especially the Chris play, but I have to correct you some. Sherry wasn’t a new character in RE6, she was in RE2.
Leon: "All aboard!" And Leon is on brand as ever! Also LOVED the timing at 10:14, truly feel it's part of the Leon experience that his quotes can manifest bad-ass, in AND out of game. For every folly of this game, at least the character interactions that feel well overdue are happening. It's like pure junk food, with heartfelt moments and genius ideas sprinkled throughout.
As someone who's played a lot, and I mean a lot of this game (over 1000 combined total and Platinum on two different systems), the worst part of it is definitely learning it. If you can get all the controls and tech down, it's one of the most fluid games I've ever played, but the game does so little to actually teach you how to play that it actively hinders the experience, to the point where I'd recommend someone watch a guide before playing it. The story is still a bit wack at points though, some sections are terrible (both of Jake's driving sections are my least-favorite parts of the game, not counting the end of Chris chapter 5-1 on the highest difficulty, and Jake chapter 2 is definitely my least-favorite chapter overall), and while the QTEs are way too abundant, they're not as bad on repeat playthroughs as the buttons never change outside of two specific cases, one being the drill in Jake chapter 2-3 and the other being a melee move you can do on a specific enemy. Maybe I've just played the game too much to see most of its flaws or maybe it strikes a niche for me that few other games do, but overall I still adore playing this game for almost every section of it wish it at least got the recognition it deserves for its controls and combat, even if the skill floor is unreasonably high for how little it tells the player. Ironically, the Switch version fixes a lot of these issues by having the pause screen be a detailed controls screen, and it even gives you the option to make QTEs automatic so no prompt is even needed outside of counters and like two or three edge-cases. Said option for QTEs was also added on the Switch version of RE5, but unlike with 6, that option was actually backported into other versions of 5, while with 6 it's exclusive to playing on Switch for some reason.
That too, but it's not really much of a gameplay thing, even if I do like that the Switch version finally lets you use the unlockable costumes in the campaign
I might've played games like this too much but the controls were so easy to get used to and manage and I'm always being hyperaware of things in games like this; so I never had too big of a problem with things like the train and car that Crystal didn't like. All in all, I know this one definitely isn't for everyone and don't even think it should've been an RE game, but I still love it.
Well to be fair, i guess people did warned you that RE6 is the worst one XD so we get what we get from it. But im 100% sure that RE7 and forward will atone to you for such experience XD looking forward to see you play it. If I remember correctly, Capcom explicitly stated they were targeting the Call of Duty crowd with RE6, which is prolly why this one in particular feels like such a departure for the series. This WAS made in the early 2010s, after all, when Call of Duty was gigantic.

Everything you say and feel about RE6 is all valid. After watching my friends play, I ended up deciding to live vicariously through those streams, which is pretty much where I left off on the RE series. I'm looking forward to October. Hopefully you have a good time with RE 7&8.
i love watching people, especially fans of RE, play 6 for the first time. Ive beaten all 4 campaigns like 3 or 4 times just to help my friends experience this garbage but not have to do it alone. its funny every time.

RE6 is amazing. I'll give u the interface is kinda weird and some of the gameplay sections can be frustrating but I don't understand how ppl dont get the reason the story is the way it is. Did ppl honestly expect the virus to be contained forever. it had to go worldwide eventually. Thats why its so chaotic and more action.
I think the complaints are more towards the game being badly designed, because Resident Evil’s plot was never stellar, and it doesn’t seem to get better in this one. I think the issues goes farther than just a weird interface.
I remember I grew up watching my brother play the RE games all the time, and whenever I saw him play 6, I was only ever interested in the story too which I remember was in between looooong gameplay sections. Now that I’m older, I can definitely see why some people don’t vibe with this game. I shipped Jake and Sherry so much though and still do tbh lol. I hope we get to see them more in the RE games, their dynamic was cute.
If you're looking for a co-op game I've heard good things about Strangers of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origins. The co-op and gameplay look solid and the story/characters seem really ridiculous in a manner that would be really funny to roast together. Only downside is it's a Soulslike which I know I at least am not really able to play.

It is a weak RE game because they try too many things but have bad execution for the most part. It is the longest game in the series, but it feels dragged down when you play. The problem with a bad tutorial, horrible UI, poor story pacing, an environment, and a set piece that looks ugly and confusing when compared to RE5, which looks much better, Chasing sequences like the car chase are the things that I don't like the most in this game. The good thing is that this game can be enjoyable as a gun-fu action game (and Capcom called it a horror game). If you know how the game works and understand the mechanics, like how Leon can use a dual handgun and how to use gun and melee together, manage stamina, quick shots, and dodging, you will feel like a superhero.
Easily one of my favourite entry's in the entire series, it's more action focused and doesn't give much mind to the whole horror thing, and I think that's what makes it better, it doesn't try to pander, it just has fun. Sad that Crystal couldn't find that as well (Context, I played this one a few years ago after my friend got me to play through multiple RE games)
I agree with your comment totally 100%. I love the action in RE6. I look at it this way when I turn on the PlayStation, I look to have fun, well solving puzzles and being scared doesn’t do that. Blowing up Zombies or Manjinis or shooting numerous of them in the skulls, now that’s fun. Playing RE5 or RE6 Mercenaries for hours on in, trying to better my own solo scores, that’s fun.
@@manbearpigsereal I guess it all depends on one’s perspective. From mine, it’s a good action game, but yes it does fail in comparison to RE5. Basically RE6 was supposed to be an improvement, but it wasn’t in story, mercenaries, dlc’s, I mean RE5 is so much better in every regard. RE5 is miles ahead of mercenaries alone.

Story-wise, I like both RE6 and RE5, but they're purely action games and that's not what made the franchise so popular. Thank God we got RE7. That game brought the franchise to its roots, and it was definitely the scariest RE7 game.
Putting this before I watch the vid but wanted to at least say up front: As far as my perspective and thoughts of RE6, I at least DO find it fun to PLAY. I will absolutely agree the story is absolute nonsensical 80's-like action cheese, but much like the DMC title with "Don't-e", this would have been a fine/ok game, if it wasn't an RE related title. Decent gameplay, but wrong franchise. As I'm watching: - Crystal mentioning all the stuff she is eventually going to encounter as basically her worst fears: I'm sorry. - I can understand getting confused at trying to figure out the controls. I personally felt much better about 6's controls than 5's as far as the gun combat itself overall (a main portion being the ability to swap the shoulder camera and being able to simply move while shooting), but I can see how people would have a hard time with the controls. Granted the surplus of QTEs doesn't help, heck there is an entire spoof song pointing out how RE6 is basically "QTE the game" and I would bet money on the game being a major factor of the seemingly universal hate people have of QTEs. - It's understandable why Crystal keeps having issues recognizing the characters and I don't blame her. Because they do indeed keep f#@%ing changing the facial basis rigs and voices every entry, like a different actor taking up the same character role in a franchise, I don't know why they do it either. XD - Don't worry about venting your frustrations Crystal, EVERYONE that played this game when it came out vented those same frustrations, so you're not alone in your opinions about the game.
One of the BEST WORST games ever. So fucking stupid and did huge damage to Capcom's reputation that they had to reboot with RE7 in a whole new direction and hit the emergency glass with the RE2 Remake. I remember the marketing hype for this. This game seemed like it was gonna be the Avengers for the Resident Evil universe and it ended up being the Suicide Squad of RE lol. The actual gameplay when you get mastery of it is hella fun especially in Mercenaries mode but that's about it.
Re6 was actually the first game i preordered, and i played the demo, which was the first section with leon and helena, so i was pumped, but definitely not so much for the rest of the game, lol. I think the story is probably the worst its been but sometimes decent, the combat can be jank but fun in very brief spurts like mercenaries, and the characters are hit or miss but can be decent enough when they try. Definitely among the bottom barrel of re games, and there are tiny bits enough for some people to like, but im not surprised you dont like this, most dont, lol. Cant wait for you to return to the series later this year!

I'm pretty good as a RE6 player, and I get why many people consider this game the worst in the series. While some enemies are cool when you destroy their limbs, and mutations are unique to those limbs, gameplay mechanics can be fun if you master the action gameplay. Level design is the biggest problem in RE6. Like Instain Death by the Train, sometimes people are not in the way of the train coming at all and still get hit, but the game expects you to follow the rule that makes less sense to most people. That section is one of the bad designs in this game, and there are too many negative things about this game to write about.
RE6 is like RE5 on steroids but it felt really overstuffed and the different UIs across campaigns were annoying. Instant death QTEs are not fun, especially with the sheer amount of them in this game
For me personally, RE6 is overly bloated and its overall tone. It was a massive Michael Bay like production, and I’m not saying that as a compliment. There was no substance and the entire game took itself FAR too seriously.
Tell me.. Does it "feel" like an RE game overall. Even compared to 5. Look at every single one and tell me there's another game in the series with: -4 campaigns you have to complete -ammo that drops in bundles to the point of over compensating -almost 0 puzzles -almost 0 horror emphasis at all (something even 5 has still at points) - almost 0 tension. -focus on QTEs -focus on over the top action (like for Christ sakes it starts with Leon in a Michael Bay film. Not an RE game) And more. Is it an okay action game? Sure. But it's not an RE game in any way pretty much. And that's why RE6 is hated.
Crystahhl really dodge a bullet by watching ada's campaign because that's the only one that you don't have a partner, if you get knocked down it's over.

You know this game is REALLY BAD when not even Matt Mercer voicing the always sexy/badass Leon, & Chris Redfield’s memorable Biceps could of saved this disastrous game. Thank god CrystAAHHL will continue the franchise with RE 7 Biohazard next Spooktober. I CANNOT WAIT FOR THAT
Resident Evil 6 is the worst in the franchise but it is a game that I love. It had the best combat in the series (until RE4 Remake came out) and it featured a cast of characters that I love. My ultimate guilty pleasure.
ik i’m gonna get shat on for this, but i never really minded the story. gameplay felt like the other resident evil games and the inventory system was pretty easy to navigate. but the main thing i liked was the spider web 6 when it gets zoomed in on.
So the game play was not like 4 and 5. Sure it has over the shoulder stuff still, but it's FAR too focused on big action scenes. It's focused more on giving you tons and tons of ammo to shoot more things than building tension and scaring you. Like.... Although it looks similar to 5 in game play but.... It's so much worse. It IS NOT an RE game.
Honestly, I still love RE6 and personally I think Leon's campaign was the worst out of all of the campaigns. His cheesy one liners and the Michael Bay action was a bit too much for me. 😅 Plus, his campaign has the worst and most repetitive soundtrack imo.
Ugh, on one hand, I like Jake and Sherry's campaign because of their bonding since both of them are literal products of two villainous scientists. On the other, *the gameplay ugggggggggh* Also, they chose the most generic looking bald guy for Jake's design
I will always argue this has the best gameplay however it's only "fun" when you learn the mechanics. The learning curve tends to be a major draw back. Doesn't help that Leon's campaign gives a terrible first, and second and 3rd impression. As for story...I don't have a high opinion of this series "writing", 2 and kinda 1 and 3 are the best the series ever had and honestly that's not the highest praise. So most of my enjoyment of 6s story is how self indulgent it is. Unfortunately the upper levels of gameplay don't get shown off or presented in casual circles. So you end up with a weird conversation between people on this game where person A has zero clue what person B is on about. The campaigns structure issues I get but I find it hard to empathize since the issues practically evaporate on revisits which is what I think about when I complain about other games bad campaigns (dmc4 for example)
RE5 game sales really were a lot at the time. But Capcom went too far in that direction and messed up. At least they could take feedback and gave us RE7 as a result
In the first few minutes i could already see an irritating feature, QTE the fact they tried to make this game feel like one of those games thats more cutscenes with QTE than actual gameplay infuriates me

If it wasn't a Resident Evil game, I genuinely believe it would be a solid action pack, Time Crisis themed, save the world type game.

I remember I grew up watching my brother play the RE games all the time, and whenever I saw him play 6, I was only ever interested in the story too which I remember was in between looooong gameplay sections. Now that I’m older, I can definitely see why some people don’t vibe with this game. I shipped Jake and Sherry so much though and still do tbh lol. I hope we get to see them more in the RE games, their dynamic was cute.

If you're looking for a co-op game I've heard good things about Strangers of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origins. The co-op and gameplay look solid and the story/characters seem really ridiculous in a manner that would be really funny to roast together. Only downside is it's a Soulslike which I know I at least am not really able to play.
The only good things you can say about RE6 is Mercenaries, Mercenaries No Mercy, and CO-OP.

It is a weak RE game because they try too many things but have bad execution for the most part. It is the longest game in the series, but it feels dragged down when you play.
The problem with a bad tutorial, horrible UI, poor story pacing, an environment, and a set piece that looks ugly and confusing when compared to RE5, which looks much better, Chasing sequences like the car chase are the things that I don't like the most in this game.
The good thing is that this game can be enjoyable as a gun-fu action game (and Capcom called it a horror game). If you know how the game works and understand the mechanics, like how Leon can use a dual handgun and how to use gun and melee together, manage stamina, quick shots, and dodging, you will feel like a superhero.
honestly, the comments are way more enjoyable than what the game looks like.
Easily one of my favourite entry's in the entire series, it's more action focused and doesn't give much mind to the whole horror thing, and I think that's what makes it better, it doesn't try to pander, it just has fun.
Sad that Crystal couldn't find that as well (Context, I played this one a few years ago after my friend got me to play through multiple RE games)

I love the action in RE6.
I look at it this way when I turn on the PlayStation, I look to have fun, well solving puzzles and being scared doesn’t do that.
Blowing up Zombies or Manjinis or shooting numerous of them in the skulls, now that’s fun.
Playing RE5 or RE6 Mercenaries for hours on in, trying to better my own solo scores, that’s fun.
But it fails as an action game too

Basically RE6 was supposed to be an improvement, but it wasn’t in story, mercenaries, dlc’s, I mean RE5 is so much better in every regard.
RE5 is miles ahead of mercenaries alone.

Story-wise, I like both RE6 and RE5, but they're purely action games and that's not what made the franchise so popular. Thank God we got RE7. That game brought the franchise to its roots, and it was definitely the scariest RE7 game.
Putting this before I watch the vid but wanted to at least say up front:
As far as my perspective and thoughts of RE6, I at least DO find it fun to PLAY. I will absolutely agree the story is absolute nonsensical 80's-like action cheese, but much like the DMC title with "Don't-e", this would have been a fine/ok game, if it wasn't an RE related title. Decent gameplay, but wrong franchise.
As I'm watching:
- Crystal mentioning all the stuff she is eventually going to encounter as basically her worst fears: I'm sorry.
- I can understand getting confused at trying to figure out the controls. I personally felt much better about 6's controls than 5's as far as the gun combat itself overall (a main portion being the ability to swap the shoulder camera and being able to simply move while shooting), but I can see how people would have a hard time with the controls. Granted the surplus of QTEs doesn't help, heck there is an entire spoof song pointing out how RE6 is basically "QTE the game" and I would bet money on the game being a major factor of the seemingly universal hate people have of QTEs.
- It's understandable why Crystal keeps having issues recognizing the characters and I don't blame her. Because they do indeed keep f#@%ing changing the facial basis rigs and voices every entry, like a different actor taking up the same character role in a franchise, I don't know why they do it either. XD
- Don't worry about venting your frustrations Crystal, EVERYONE that played this game when it came out vented those same frustrations, so you're not alone in your opinions about the game.
One of the BEST WORST games ever. So fucking stupid and did huge damage to Capcom's reputation that they had to reboot with RE7 in a whole new direction and hit the emergency glass with the RE2 Remake.
I remember the marketing hype for this. This game seemed like it was gonna be the Avengers for the Resident Evil universe and it ended up being the Suicide Squad of RE lol.
The actual gameplay when you get mastery of it is hella fun especially in Mercenaries mode but that's about it.

Re6 was actually the first game i preordered, and i played the demo, which was the first section with leon and helena, so i was pumped, but definitely not so much for the rest of the game, lol. I think the story is probably the worst its been but sometimes decent, the combat can be jank but fun in very brief spurts like mercenaries, and the characters are hit or miss but can be decent enough when they try. Definitely among the bottom barrel of re games, and there are tiny bits enough for some people to like, but im not surprised you dont like this, most dont, lol. Cant wait for you to return to the series later this year!

Been a fan of RE since I was 5 and I _adore_ this game, it's fantastic. Don't get the hate for it especially from people who like RE4 and RE5.
I'm pretty good as a RE6 player, and I get why many people consider this game the worst in the series. While some enemies are cool when you destroy their limbs, and mutations are unique to those limbs, gameplay mechanics can be fun if you master the action gameplay. Level design is the biggest problem in RE6. Like Instain Death by the Train, sometimes people are not in the way of the train coming at all and still get hit, but the game expects you to follow the rule that makes less sense to most people. That section is one of the bad designs in this game, and there are too many negative things about this game to write about.
RE6 is like RE5 on steroids but it felt really overstuffed and the different UIs across campaigns were annoying. Instant death QTEs are not fun, especially with the sheer amount of them in this game
For me personally, RE6 is overly bloated and its overall tone.
It was a massive Michael Bay like production, and I’m not saying that as a compliment. There was no substance and the entire game took itself FAR too seriously.
Tell me.. Does it "feel" like an RE game overall. Even compared to 5. Look at every single one and tell me there's another game in the series with:
-4 campaigns you have to complete
-ammo that drops in bundles to the point of over compensating
-almost 0 puzzles
-almost 0 horror emphasis at all (something even 5 has still at points)
- almost 0 tension.
-focus on QTEs
-focus on over the top action (like for Christ sakes it starts with Leon in a Michael Bay film. Not an RE game)
And more.
Is it an okay action game? Sure. But it's not an RE game in any way pretty much. And that's why RE6 is hated.

Crystahhl really dodge a bullet by watching ada's campaign because that's the only one that you don't have a partner, if you get knocked down it's over.
They added a "partner" character later.
@@CrazeeAdam and the campaign wasn't designed for two playable characters, the partner character can't do puzzles, can't do grapple hook during the bus fight and can't proceed to the next area without Ada.
This is the only game in the franchise that I played.

Resident Evil 6 is the worst in the franchise but it is a game that I love. It had the best combat in the series (until RE4 Remake came out) and it featured a cast of characters that I love. My ultimate guilty pleasure.

I mean it was great seeing Sherry’s ballistics, but no Chris’s campaign was the most fun.
ik i’m gonna get shat on for this, but i never really minded the story. gameplay felt like the other resident evil games and the inventory system was pretty easy to navigate. but the main thing i liked was the spider web 6 when it gets zoomed in on.
So the game play was not like 4 and 5. Sure it has over the shoulder stuff still, but it's FAR too focused on big action scenes. It's focused more on giving you tons and tons of ammo to shoot more things than building tension and scaring you. Like.... Although it looks similar to 5 in game play but.... It's so much worse. It IS NOT an RE game.
I LOVE THIS GAME. Don't get me wrong, it's preeeetty baaaad, BUT I LOVE RESIDENT EVIL 6 MAN, nothing I can do about it ❤

Honestly, I still love RE6 and personally I think Leon's campaign was the worst out of all of the campaigns. His cheesy one liners and the Michael Bay action was a bit too much for me. 😅 Plus, his campaign has the worst and most repetitive soundtrack imo.
Ugh, on one hand, I like Jake and Sherry's campaign because of their bonding since both of them are literal products of two villainous scientists. On the other, *the gameplay ugggggggggh*
Also, they chose the most generic looking bald guy for Jake's design

I will always argue this has the best gameplay however it's only "fun" when you learn the mechanics. The learning curve tends to be a major draw back. Doesn't help that Leon's campaign gives a terrible first, and second and 3rd impression.
As for story...I don't have a high opinion of this series "writing", 2 and kinda 1 and 3 are the best the series ever had and honestly that's not the highest praise. So most of my enjoyment of 6s story is how self indulgent it is. Unfortunately the upper levels of gameplay don't get shown off or presented in casual circles. So you end up with a weird conversation between people on this game where person A has zero clue what person B is on about. The campaigns structure issues I get but I find it hard to empathize since the issues practically evaporate on revisits which is what I think about when I complain about other games bad campaigns (dmc4 for example)

RE5 game sales really were a lot at the time. But Capcom went too far in that direction and messed up. At least they could take feedback and gave us RE7 as a result
