I got to say Leon got the BIGGEST BLOWUP in both Badassness & Hotness in the RE franchise. Also can we also take the time to admit how basically perfect Luis is as both a character and in hotness.
What I love about this game is that it shows just how important being fun is in a world where many Triple-A devs focus more on making a cinematic experience. Even though horror games weren't your thing and you preferred the ambience and puzzles of RE1 (based opinion btw), the fact that 4R is at its core just such a *fun* game is enough to shoot it to the top tier of your fav REs. Helps that Leon got such a huge glowup too!
It has continually blown my mind for the last 15 years or so how so many studios with big budgets seem to not understand this simple fact and instead just shit out mediocre movies with boring gameplay and call it a day
never forget: you now a resident evil final boss isn't dead becaue you don't use a rocket launcher in a scripted moment to kill them. Happens EEVERY single time (granted the rocket launhcer is sometimes not a rocket launcher but its a rocket launcher in SPIRIT)
I don't think her opinion of Ada will change much, but it might reverse for Ashley lol, tbh I think it's easier to sympathize with Ada in the OG RE 2, and the kiss they give is more genuine, which in Re 2 remake feels more manipulative.
Tbh, Ada is kind of like the Akechi. They both cares for the protagonists but cannot get too close due to their circumstances/job. I would be interested in her playing the Separate ways DLC though
Fun fact: In the Japanese dub, Sephiroth (Final Fantasy 7), Leon S. Kennedy (Resident Evil) and Tatsuo Shinada (Yakuza 5) are voiced by the same actor: Toshiyuki Morikawa.
I'm sooo scared of playing horror games myself, so watching streams is ideal for me, and the editing and laughter and Crystaahhl's fun noises really takes the gut-punch out of it, thank you Tion for the auto-tune and car-vroom jokes, those were top-tier XD
I don't like Ada for Ada. I like Ada because of how funny is it to see Leon simp so hard for her when she basically boils down to "pretty lady that throws me rocket launchers"
Crystahl missing the bells in the blind claw guy room is me for allcthe encounters. Like 20 minutes of screaming and shooting and then u find out there was traps, barrels, ladders etc all around the area lmao 😅
For me the horror in these games comes mostly from not knowing if you have enough ammo or resources to tackle whatever's coming next. I was playing RE2 Remake on hardcore recently, and hearing the snarling and hissing of creatures all around while I had barely enough bullets to maybe knock down one zombie definitely put some kind of fear in me - a different kind of fear from something like Silent Hill that likes to screw with players using disturbing ideas and imagery. Idk if you would call it horror at that point, maybe anxiety simulators? Maybe it depends on how strict a person's definition of horror is.
The classic RE games were more scary. The fixed camera angles and not knowing what's at the end of each hallway was terrifying. But RE7 is still the scariest RE game ever made.
technically, Wesker officially returned in Code Veronica, but that one got skipped over for the remakes in favour of RE4 (likely because its...REALLY silly)
I just bought this game yesterday. It’s gonna be a while before I watch this, and it’s gonna be even longer if I can’t get it to run well on my computer, but if you did really enjoy it, that makes me even more excited to finally play it. Edit: I played the game anyway with potato graphics and beat it a couple weeks ago, it was fantastic, I loved it so much, I want to play it again already
From what I've understood, she only just got into the RE series recently as horror games weren't really her thing? I do love though that she's fallen in love with them and I think she's going to play the original versions sometime next year which is going to be super interesting seeing her reactions and thoughts on after having played through the Remakes of 1-4 first and then going to the originals.
It's too bad you didn't fight the first chainsaw guy(s), there were two you can get in the village fight, you could parry the blades and go Rules of nature 9:30 I'm my own master now The original cabin fight had Luis's best line, it hurt when they took it out 15:58 Leon- Hasta luego Me- Press one for english (Explosion) 17:42 Oof, that wouldn't have happened if the eye was still a key item 18:20 Leon- No thanks, bro! The Verdugo fight was my favorite, you get a treasure that's very valueable in both games Besides getting treasure fron the giants if you don't pull the lever, the part where Luis shows up with dyamite changes if you kill the armored fast enough 28:14 Krauser- It's been a long time, comrad Me- Do I know you? 30:11 Ada had more personality in the original and japanese sub of this game, the va and capcom butchered her character in the english version 31:24 Anyone who was fed up with the old man in the original will love this scene so much Just kidding, Salazar is actually twenty 31:40 XD Fun fact- Salazar is allergic to eggs, throw a couple goldens at him and ko I prefer Saddler in the original because he was so cheezy instead of annoying
Hopefully you play the og one day. A sad thing about remakes is that most people will never play the original. I think it would be interesting to see someone play the remake then the og after because I haven’t seen anyone do that yet.
I had mixed feelings with the original. I enjoyed the village and was ready for it to end by the end of the castle, the island felt like punishment. The remake fixed so many issues I had with the original and is easily my favorite game of the year.
Imagine thinking the remake of 4, the actual best reviewed and most sought after RE title- is going to NOT wow you, lol. 33:35 Honestly disappointing that she didn’t even TRY the charms. Those make playthroughs so much more interesting.
"unexpectedly" lol Even when the classic first came out everybody around me was talking about it including those who don't really find the game as masterpiece, yet still enjoyed the game regardless. It just rub the E for everyone quite tight but without making it for babies. It's like GTA but action shooter horror
I would believe you about RE 2, 3 and 4 being action games and having no horror there if you weren't screaming and pissing yourself the whole time lol.
4 isn't bad. It was a big shift in the series, turning it more towards action and less towards horror, something that remained until RE7 came along. The remake does it justice despite some strange changes, however Ada's VA's performance was god awful 18:18 This is one of said strange changes: Ramon Salazar's character model. He looks like Granny Goodness in this yet he's supposed to look like someone who is eternally a child according to his backstory since the Plagas made him stop aging
Also his charisma, I don't think the remake captured as well as the OG, and a little of Saddler, I somewhat liked how cocky and overconfident he was in the OG and how he taunted Leon
you kinda can't say anything about Ada Wong because you defend Akechi and I like Akechi don't get me wrong but even I can admit he is not good boyfriend material
See.... Funny thing is, Crystahl sweety. There's a free shotgun at the village if you get into a house and search the second floor... So yeah, yikes.....
While I personally think this game was a bit over hyped on release, I can’t deny that as an action game type player, I really enjoyed it and made me like resident evil
love the internalized misogyny of liking male morally grey characters like akechi but hating ada😍 if ada was a hot guy instead of a hot girl youd love her no question, lol.
I got to say Leon got the BIGGEST BLOWUP in both Badassness & Hotness in the RE franchise. Also can we also take the time to admit how basically perfect Luis is as both a character and in hotness.
Don't forget dorkiness.
Game blessed us with Luis, his jacket and his dumpy. 11/10
Don’t forget to include his dancing skills that we got to see in the Ada DLC
Much better character than in the original!
There's a higher number of 'noticing the thing to interact with in the environment AFTER the enemies are already dead' moments than usual 😂
What I love about this game is that it shows just how important being fun is in a world where many Triple-A devs focus more on making a cinematic experience. As someone who played the original I feel 90% of the horror in this game is the PTSD we got from Ashley's screaming
Imagine unexpectedly loving the best game in the franchise, no way
The best is hands down 2
You can't just say that man! You're gonna summon a horde of pretentious classic RE fans!
@@Who_is_Arinothing pretentious in admitting that 2002's RE remake is the best😌

24:47 Can i point out the irony of Leon shooting him... There. Of all places. There.
Re 4 was my favorite game ever. Until the Remake came out. Now RE 4 Remake is my favorite game ever.
"I like her (Ashley). She's way better than Ada"
Let's put an pin on that and see how well that ages when CrystAAHHLL tries the og RE4.

OG RE4 is fantastic too. Played it right before the remake released and made me appreciate both a lot more.
Crystaahhl was so entranced by Luis' ass that she couldn't say his name right *once*
We now know why Wesker couldn't either in the Separate Ways DLC

Same way some people manage to like Akechi somehow😂

I love that random Link voice with Leon missing his swings with a knife
Already lovin the video with the editing!!
This game was fantastic. It came out on my birthday this year so was a great birthday gift from Capcom.
Listen I love all my resident evil children equally……. but 4 is easily the best without a doubt 😂
Not even 5 minutes in and she’s already falling for Leon, not that I blame her though lol.
18:36 Also hey that’s me! 😄
technically, Wesker officially returned in Code Veronica, but that one got skipped over for the remakes in favour of RE4 (likely because its...REALLY silly)
Kinda sad they skipped CV because timeline wise, that's the sequel to RE2. I wanted to see how they will remake Steve and the game in general
I think they will make RECV Remake. I just hope it's not as bad as RE3 Remake and Capcom actually puts effort into the game.
