Re: The Boss 429, I worked at a machine shop in Titusville Florida (about 50 miles south of Daytona on U.S. 1) that had a dyno and they used to get lots of machine work around Daytona race week. The chief mechanic of one of the race cars (I don't recall who it was but it wasn't a Big name) had a Boss 429 in there getting it align bored. As a teen boy familiar with the rated 375 HP I asked him about it. He said Ford had it pretty well suffocated off the showroom with the new smog and restrictive air intake and especially the exhaust system. He guessed the 375 was pretty accurate. But he said if you just remove the smog equipment use a less restrictive air filter and install some big tube headers that the engine will go right to 500 HP and with Cam work right to 600 vey easily.
Just freaking amazing, it's so breath taking all of the best cars (the Mustangs) ever built, just an amazing collection, along with your stories Evan. A awesome video for great enjoyment.
Evan we agree on alot! the 69 is the pinnacle of the Mustang by far, the 4 headlights, quarter scoops, the coved taillights and panel its head and shoulders above the other years, and i also agree the 351Boss is THE baddest factory small block ever made by any of the Big3 , but, the Godzilla may give it a run for the money though. my dad had a 69 sportsroof racecar in the 80's with a 351Boss and a toploader, it had a tunnel ram and was built to 7Os prostock specs from a how to book put out by Jack Roush
With head-turning graphics and a healthy sounding 351 Cleveland engine, this 1970 Mach 1 is one of only 96 Twister Special Mustangs produced. The legendary Twister Special story begins when American Raceways International requested 1970 Mustang convertibles for use as pace cars and limited editions. Ford’s Special Promotions Division was tasked with creating unique side stripes and graphics for the project. But when ARI went bankrupt, Ford offered the package to the Kansas City dealer sales district as a special regional promotion for Mach 1s and Torino Cobras.
WE are going to need oxygen haha. I can't believe the amount and quality of cars. Loved #3 convertible and a Boss 429, Mystic Chrome, Mach 1 or Boss 351 will always be a star in any collection. But the 2000 Cobra R is something very very special even among them. And personally I like the big '71-'73s a lot... Quite interesting test you did with the three Cobra R's back in the day; it would be amazing to do something like that on video today.
I take offence, 18;37 to your remarks about the Mustang II! My first car was a 1976 coupe . I was 17 years old, 302 4spd, no A/C. I raced everthing that I could get ahold of from mid to late 70"s, never lost a race. My best friend bought a low mileage 1976 T/A automatic in 1978 and I whiped him time, and time again! You forget that 145Hp net equates to nearly 200Hp SAE which is what a 2bbl 289/302 from 1965 on was rated at. My Mustang weighed under 2900l lbs. with me in itt, and I did not play! Evan, apology accepted, to a fellow Mustang lover!!!
2000 Cobra R was actually a 5.4 DOHC, not a 5.8 as you kept mentioning. So many cars you spoke about in a short period, so not throwing shade as it's easy slip up a bit. Excellent video as always, thanks for sharing!
Hi from the UK , Just found your channel cool Mustangs here , That Twister is rare, the dealer that built them was based in Kansas City. The Cobra R is baddass and probably my favourite Post 60s muscle car era Mustang or the Terminator. MM & FF I used to by during the 90s , had loads of mags imported to the UK.
I am a s197 3v , manual owner, I’ve owned 7 different years of mustangs in my 54 years on this planet. My 08 gt. Is the most fun to drive. Btw, I bleed !!! Ford blue!!
Alot of treasure's in that building.I was never a fan of the Mustang 2's , but I never knew that the factory HP put out was so small. That could have possibly been because that's when the government started putting all of the emission demands on the car companies. When you grow up in the 60's, the Mustangs were the big seller.
Great video, I did't quite understand the part about the 69 Mach 1. You said it was a 2 barrel 351, that would be 250 HP .the 4 barrel was the 290 HP version. But again I might not have understood what you said. Any event great content.
1970 clearly a great looking mustang!! I like 70 better than the 69. Might be cause I drove a 70 fast back in high school, my senior year. 1988. It wasn’t very nice, but I loved it!!!
I owned a 2000 Mustang Cobra R model, #288 of 300...outside of the 911/997 Turbo I owned and my current GT2 RS, the R was the best engineered street car I ever owned. fyi, the side exhaust was by Borla
Re: the Hertz GT350 (Rent-a-Racer)...enterprising young lads were pulling the K code engines and substituting an A or C code so much that Hertz/Ford put locks on the engine bolts to stop them.
Parnelli Jones didn't care for the shaker hood, he said he preferred the '69 winning car with no scoop, so kinda odd that Saleen made a tribute car with a shaker hood.
Work harder and stop wishing for things… This “system” rewards hard work and making the right moves at the right time. Everyone doesn’t get to be a winner… as nature intended.
With all due respect, I couldn’t disagree more. This man gives so much back and helps so many people. But even if he didn’t, he was smart enough and worked hard for everything he has EARNED.
This museum is beyond interesting, in 1975 I went to an all Mustang, Shelby Mustang, Shelby Cobra car show at the St. Louis Carpenters hall when I was 15, and went with a friend Eric, and his sister Rose who was on a 2nd or 3rd date with a guy named Bob Shulte who had just recently sold a 1968 289 Shelby Cobra that Bob dubbed, the Corvette killer that he street raced. It was a pretty interesting Ford car show and there quite a few heavily modified engines and cars with suspension modifications. Bob and Rose got married about a year later at Holy Cross Catholic church in Baden, MO., and are still married. But were also into Mopar love machines and have a 2022 Dodge Challenger.
Great video Evan. I was a long term MM&FF subscriber and remember every magazine cover shown in this video. RIP MM&FF
Good show and a pretty girl 🧒 too. Your ratings are gonna skyrocket😊

Wow! I’m in awe. Such a great collection beautifully displayed. And your stories bring it all to life and make the cars so very real.
You are correct about the 69 Mach 1s!!! I hate to see the rear spoilers and rear wings and slats on them!!! Great video Evan!
Agreed 100%!
Wow those are a lot of amazing Mustangs! I love all the stories you have about all those Mustangs! Ready part 3!!!
Def worth a visit

You are correct, 5.4 DOHC and it is indeed hard to talk and think, at least for me.

It's really alarming that a system exists which allows an individual to accumulate this much wealth. Aside from that, nice collection.
Work harder and stop wishing for things… This “system” rewards hard work and making the right moves at the right time.
Everyone doesn’t get to be a winner… as nature intended.
It's called capitalism and rewards persistant hard work and risk.
